[ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9+Paranoid Android LS670 11/20 ZVD basesband Alpha19

Re: [ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9 Sprint LS670 9/1 ZVD basesband Alpha17

Hi TheKraven! I've been using your builds for a very long time and I'd like to let you know I appreciate your work! You continue to breath new life into my Optimus S! :D

I too am having the endless boot animation problem, here is what I have tried:

Before I did any of these, I formatted /boot:/sd-ext:/cache:/dalvik-cache:/system:/data using Xionia and a debugSYSTEM-format.zip (I'm not sure if that's the correct filename, but it formats the system partition). I also flashed gapps, but I figure that's irrelevant.

--flashed 17b: failed
--flashed 17b, then test15 kernel: failed
--flashed 17b, then old audio drivers: failed
--flashed 17b, then test15 kernel, then old audio drivers: failed
--flashed 16e, then test15 kernel: failed
--flashed 16e: failed
--flashed 15f: success

So unless I'm not installing the audio drivers correctly (I just assumed I should flash them last), 15f is still the only version that I have tested that works on my phone. I did not try any of the earlier 16 builds.

I hope this helps.

Yep ^ I'm still getting the endless boot after I formatted my SD ext and my SD card >.> Sucks I really want this! :{ lol

Re: [ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9 Sprint LS670 9/1 ZVD basesband Alpha17

I was getting the endless boot as well. I read that some one tried it with a non formatted sdcard and it booted. I removed mine after pulling the battery and it booted in less than a minute after removing it

Re: [ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9 Sprint LS670 9/1 ZVD basesband Alpha17

Also, my sd-ext is formatted as ext4 and it is mounted on mmcblk0p2
I think p2 means it's in the second partition slot, because of this:

cat /proc/partitions
major minor #blocks name
179 0 1955840 mmcblk0
179 1 1706054 mmcblk0p1
179 2 249785 mmcblk0p2

I have seen many tutorials online emphasizing that sd-ext should be the first partition. Perhaps people that are having the endless boot animation problem could post what position their sd-ext partition is in? To find out type:

su
mount|grep sd-ext

into a terminal emulator. It will spit out a bunch of info. Look for the filesystem type (ext3, ext4, fat32, etc...), and look for something like "mmcblk0p2" or "mmcblk0p1".

Let's see if this works for sd-ext partitions. Backup your SDCARD first, reboot to recovery or use the minitool program to make the partions. I made my sd-ext partitions via COT recovery, 256M , swap 64M. Then copied over the rom zip and gapps. But I think the minitool program should work too.

First off want to say I LOVE this ROM!! But I am having one small issue and I noticed a little bit of talk about it earlier in the thread, but can anyone tell me if there is a fix and if so how to fix the issue with assigning a specific ringtone to a contact but it doesn't take and continues to use the phone's default ringtone?

Re: [ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9 Sprint LS670 9/1 ZVD basesband Alpha17

I wound up trying this out after being unable to boot after restoring a nand of a different ROM. This new version is pretty awesome. Here's some things to know, kraven:

1.) When in deep sleep, there are times when it WILL NOT awaken regardless of what you do. (And I have the volume rocker set to wake the phone as well) Only a battery pull can alleviate this.

2.) Not sure if anyone else has ever had this problem, but the game Dream Heights crashes A LOT. It doesn't seem as bad now as it did with older versions of this ROM (it used to be that it would crash constantly; I'd be lucky to get more than five minutes of play at the most before it would crash). I'm beginning to wonder if maybe the game is incompatible with ICS.

3.) This newest version seems to be a LOT faster and smoother running. I noticed this almost immediately...very impressive!!

4.) And something I had noticed by accident: the home screen will actually rotate into landscape mode with the phone...I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure older versions of the ROM didn't do that.

Keep up the good work!!

Re: [ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9 Sprint LS670 9/1 ZVD basesband Alpha17

so the newer update worked, and i was just doing my normal reputting everything how i liked it and at one restart the apps all just disappeared from the device and it wouldnt find nothing, i had to reflash a previous nand, any idea what that was?

edit: ok it just did it on my flash of the nand i just did and its saying that the apps arent installed :/ i think it moved the apps but now the phone lost track of them, any idea how to fix?

I had to re flash it 3 times . super user would shut off.. I so went back to nandroid set up. Re flashed..... nothing funky happened to me yet and it's been 4 hours straight. Will report when things go bad

17c getting reports of barely audible/garbled voice during calls. Will try to test older audio libs available while at work tonight.

Re: [ROM]COLD AS ICE-CM9 Sprint LS670 9/1 ZVD basesband Alpha17

doesnt work for me, it'll start fine, but after a few reboots the apps get moved to the sd, and the phone acts like nothing is installed
