[ROM][GINGERBREAD] CyanogenMOD 7 Nightly Builds.

Sweet...also when there is a new version how do I update it...will I lose all my current info
For CM7, you really don't have to wipe between nightlies. What I do is make sure I have a good nandroid backup (I update that every couple days) and flash right over top of yesterday's nightly, with today's nightly :) and you wont lose your current setup.

Does anyone know exactly what the Dalvik cache (spelling?) is and what it does and why it should be wiped sometimes? the reason I ask is because i have seen it come up in a few post and some other threads and forums...

Dalvik is the name of the Java Virtual Machine that is used for Android. The Dalvik engine reads the Java files and compiles them into binary files that can be read by the kernel. Wiping the Dalvik cache erases all of those binaries. The binaries are rebuilt as needed when the phone boots, which is why it takes so long for the phone to reboot the first time after a wipe.

You can generally get away without wiping the Dalvik cache, but it's best to do it regularly. If the nightly contains kernel modifications you want to make sure the java binaries are correct for the kernel.

Hope this helps!

noticed improvement in flashPlayer with #5

Since I flashed the new nightly 5 this morning... I have noticed that my Flash 10.1 is now working fine... they must have fixed a bug. Looking forward to more nightlys

Ok I need some help with wiping battery stats. I went into recovery and did it there hut now by green charged light and batteryvmeter don't line up right...did I do this wrong.

When I have my screen backlight auto adjust it is way to dim. Is there anyway to fix this to make it a little brighter but still have it auto adjust.

I have this problem too - Sometimes it's too dim and then it catches up. I would suggest setting it at like 50% or 70% and see how you like that. Hopefully they will tweak the light sensor.

Haha! Figures! I get home tonight and what do I find as part of my nightly reading!

xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM] CM7 Nightlies Progress (RC1.5)

There is a way to adjust the auto brghtness!

Menu -> Settings -> Cyanogen Settings -> Display -> Automatic Backlight -> Use Custom -> Edit Other Levels

This thing needs a Friggin manual! LOL It's like a Russian Doll, layer within layer within layer!

Anyway - I was worng. Where there's a Developer there's a way!

You need to give it time to regenerate some stats. Generally it is recommended that you wipe Battery Stats at 100% (or there about) and then let the phone run down very low. Then give it a full charge. This give the phone a good gauge of your battery range and the stat's can be regenerated.

So, what are people’s thoughts about the camera changes and the Battery % gauge options?

I have not played with the stock camera in a long time, but I'm hoping some of the changes will help Vignette focus better.

I like the Battery % mod. It's not as sexy as I would have thought for CM, but it's functional.

check this site daily CyanogenMod Mirror Network - Powered by TDRevolution OR if you have the Premium (paid for) version of ClockWorkMod then you can just check it OTA on your phone... that is how I do it. much easier. but if you cant afford the premium right now the just hit up that link and DL the latest nightly, infact #6 just came out :)

No problem - The best way, if you don't have the premium ROM Manager, is to check out the download link on the Original Post. That will always have a listing of the most current/latest. The builds are done nightly on a Bot so unless there are problems with previous builds the DInc build usually is done between 10:00 pm and Midnight. Sometimes later.

If you have Premium ROM Manager then you can register in the Cyanogenmod Settings -> System -> Update Notifications and you'll get a notification in the bar when updates are available.

Doooh Too slow by a minute ;)

I am flashing #6 as I write this... Maybe you can help me Pville.... I want to use Handcent SMS as my default texting app. everytime I get a text, i get two of them (one in handcent and one in the default texting app for CM7)... Do you know how to make it so that only handcent is my default texting app so that I only get texts to that app? I have tried everything that I can think of...

I don't use Handsent but in the default messaging app you can turn off notifications. Messaging -> Menu -> Settings -> Notification Settings

Then just delete the Messaging icons off your screen and use Handsent. I don't think there is a way to "turn off" the default messaging app completely.

Thanks... Thats what I thought too. I guess I will just stick with the CM version instead of getting two texts and taking up space. if you do find out otherwise, please let me know, and I will post it too if I find out a way... :)
