[ROM][GINGERBREAD] CyanogenMOD 7 Nightly Builds.

Looks like #3 does not have much for us. But #4 looks like it's starting to get some Camera Goodies! ;)

Again just wanted to say thank you to everyone for all the help... I was successfully able to install the ROM for my first time ever... and I backed up everything successfully too. Just wondering though... has anyone else noticed that battery life seems to suck a bit more... before I installed the CM7, I had SetCPU on my phone which did a great job at controlling my CPU usage during screen off time.. but now it just seem like my battery is dying ALOT quicker.

For better battery life I would recommend flashing the latest Incredikernel, which can be found in the OP. After flashing, go into Cyanogenmod Settings > Performance > CPU settings, and change the governor to smartass. The smartass governor has a built in screen off profile, which works in place of using SetCPU.

I don't think I have ever flashed anything yet? dumb question, but what is the 'OP' ? and how do I flash it? just need to know how to do that and I should be all set. another question... I see there is a new nightly out... If i want to put that on my phone do I have to competely wipe everything again and reinstall it like before when I did it with CM7 3? or is there an easier way to do it?

Did you flash with the new Clockwork? I've seen some reports of people having issues when flashing with a 3.x.x version of Clockwork that sound similar to yours.

Yes but I fixed the problem and now that im on build 2, no problems at all.

OP = Original post

If you were already coming from a nightly, no need to wipe data. At most just wipe dalvik cache but between you and me, I don't even do that =]

In order to do that you must manually go into recovery, advanced, and then wipe dalvik cache.

I downloaded the 2.6.37-incredikernel-02/20/11 to my winzip and am about to put it on my SD... after I do that... How do I flash it? Do I do that through Clockwork? or manually? AND if I do it, then do I need to turn off my setCPU. also, should I flash the new nightly 4 or just stick with 3? what are the differences? and should I just stick with 3 and wait until some more nightly's come along

#4 is not out yet - it will come out tonight.

For the Kernel, just place the .zip file on your SD Card, reboot into recovery. Clear Cache and Dalvik Cache (under advanced in recovery) and then flash the kernel .zip file.

Reboot and you're good to go.

I would not use Set CPU with this kernel. Also check under Settings -> CyanogenMod Settings -> Performance -> CPU settings that Smartass is selected.

As far as flashing nightly - some flash every nightly, others will flash every 3rd or 4th, or wait until there is a big release of features they want. It's all up to you but beware... Flashing is addictive ;)

SUPER BUMMED.... I just figured out that I don't have enough space on my SD card to put smartass on it... and I am not sure what to delete. Guess I need to buy a new SD... dang.... DO I NEED TO PUT IT ON MY SD CARD? cuz I got plenty o room on my phone internal.

You can remove the old .zip of #2 you don't need it anymore. Pictures are something you can also offload to your PC.

Needs to be on the SD. Delete the .zip file for the ROM, it is not needed after you've flashed it and should clear up a bit of space.

Everything Is running absolutely smooth except for Flash... BUT just a minor bug! I love this new nightly... it is awesome. The more I learn, The more I can possibly help others... I used to own the Pre Plus and knew the phone inside and out... Now that I have the Hinc, I am trying to do the same... looking foward to what the future holds.

I rooted my friends Aria last night and put CM7 on it and he said the same thing. I don't visit flash sites on my phone but I will investigate...

Edit: Just tried it out on my phone, no flash here either. All I see are the blue boxes. May just be broken on the nightlies or CM7 altogether. When it comes to nightlies, no one posts known bugs because the ROM itself is experimental and is expected to have bugs.

My flash works ok too - but it is on-demand - You have to tap the blue box and then flash will load.

Did you update Flash in the market?

Incognito Mode in the browser should be fixed in tonight's build, as well as the new camera features that I mentioned earlier! #4 should be a good one! As long as the build doesn't fail.
