[ROM][GINGERBREAD] CyanogenMOD 7 Nightly Builds.

Yes did the original through recovery, but all the updated nightlies through ROM Manger, First time runnind a ROM. I'll do it through recovery tonight, will post an update.

A lot of people have been complaining about rom manager lately.. myself included. But it is better to use recovery mode instead of rom manager... ;)

@xterror - you did a full wipe before you flashed cm7 the first time around?

if not i would do a full wipe, cache dalvik and data, then flash cm7 and gapps, then reboot, all in recovery mode.

@ssethv i'm gonna flash 19 later. good to hear the wake-stutters have been addressed. and which kernel do you refer to a few posts ago, the updated slayher or the updated incredikernel?

and a question: anybody that flashed 19 notice if the updated words w friends is working?

This was mentioned a while ago with build 6, but bizdady over at xda has an awesome honeycomb-esq lockscreen and is now available via metamorph.

Yes first time I did a full wipe, everything has been working great since first time I did it. Have been doing updates through Rom Manager no problems (dont wipe on updates) My Issue started last night before i updated to 19.

I was referring to chads new incredikernel. I have a link taking you to the post from xda talking about it and I also have a link to the exact kernel download :)

do you have a nandroid backup from nightly 17 that you can flash back to?
I would go back to a nandroid that was stable and working well for you, then boot into recovery, wipe the cache partition and the dalvik, then flash 19, if that's the nightly you are trying to get to at the moment.

if that doesnt work out properly i would go back to your nandroid, then boot into recovery and do a full wipe of all three, then flash 19 and the most up to date version of gapps available (dont know which it is offhand).

@seth - the new incredikernel that was available i guess a week ago was good, at first i had some issues with it but it definitely was working well for me since 17. though, the newest slayher that comes baked into 18 and 19 has been doing very nicely the last few days as far as battery life and operation go.

i'll go back and find your link and see if its the same kernel i tried out earlier this week

edit
btw i missed a page of posts somehow so i apologize if i just reiterated things that had already been said

@neck - I can't tell how many pages back it is because I am using my phone right now to do this, But I did post 2 different links 1 of them to the actual thread and 1 to chads new incredikernel

That has never happened to me. Before you installed this rom all the way back at the very beginning when you started doing this, Did you do a full wipe of everything before you installed the nightly(CM7) rom? Also what kind of kernel are you using? I guess what I'm really trying to say, is did you follow the exact instructions on the very first page of this thread? The only reason I ask is because I've never had any type of the issues like that ever... I'm just trying to help you backtrack and get to the root of the problem

Can't wait to get home and try to fix my phone, it's getting worse. everything is force closing, can't open handcent to see wife's txt. Can't open built in sms messanger. Pulse crashing, started last night and wasnt after an update. Had last updated like a week ago, STRANGE, but at least I'll learn something new after I fix it. lol

I have always done a full wipe of everything...between every nightly too

Bro... That is major overkill!!! you do not need to do a full wipe between nightlies...

I DO NOT USE ROM manager when i do this except for making my nandroid

all I do is DL the nightly I want(I use my computer and also load it to my phone from the computer). Then i do a nandroid backup of my current ROM (just in case:), then turn my phone off and then on into recovery mode (vol down and power button). then I flash the newest nightly, after that I wipe cache and then wipe dalvik cache, then I install the kernel again (you have to reinstall the kernel you want between nightlies for some reason)... after that just reboot and you are good to go. YOU def don't need to do a full wipe... maybe thats why your having so many problems dude ( i could be wrong about that) ... the only time you ever need to do a full wipe is when switching between two completely different ROMS... You are making soooo much more work for yourself brother...

when I flash I new nightly, it takes maybe 5 mins... I cant imagine having to reinstall all my apps everytime... Let me know how everything goes for you... if I helped; hit my thanks button :)

Another positive I have noticed is that now we have the ability to use a third-party SMS/MMS app instead of being stuck with the sms/mms app we did have to use back when nightlies first started... That is a BIG plus for me :) Handcent app is now my default ;)

That is the beauty of nightlies... YOU LEARN alot about your phone, and then you can help others too :)

I will add the new incredikernel to the OP as soon as I am at a computer. It's been running very nicely for me. Great battery life especially with the minimum set at 128. Looks like slayher has merged a new I/O scheduler to our kernel. It's called the deadline scheduler. Here is a little info on that: Deadline scheduler

Ahhh....I meant to say a cache and dalvik wipe between nightlies....only a full wipe at initial install
