[ROM][GINGERBREAD] CyanogenMOD 7 Nightly Builds.

I downloaded the latest nightlie last night. Very cool ROM!! My only issue is that once I can actually get my phone to fully boot, I have a lot of force close errors. When I try to reboot it gets stuck on the Cyanogen C7 boot screen and then I have to do a fresh install. Any suggestions before I move on to a different ROM? Thanks and I appreciate any advice you have!!

I am going to assume that you did a Full Wipe of Data, Cache and Dalvik when you installed.

Try running Fix Permissions from Recovery. That usually fixes wierd fc issues after an install.

i ran the rc2 a couple days but went back to skyraider i had previously. there were some things i liked in cyan but i'd get random hang ups in apps like overlays would stop working, or i'd lose my bottom row of icons on my main ui.

I think i just really enjoy how sense loooks and feels because i always seem to come back to sense builds after i try vanilla ones. even saying that though this is a nice rom and i was glad i tried it for a week or so.

Thanks PvilleComp I will see if that works. Another question I have is how can I get my contacts photos to sync with the Facebook ones. There is no link option anymore with this ROM.

There is an option in the facebook for android settings to sync all or just existing contacts. The existing contacts option will only match the photos if the names are exactly the same.

Other than Flashing 22 and having to change my boot animation, anyone noticed any changes to this nightly? I havent noticed but I haven't spent a whole lot of time on my phone today..

I am going to go back to my "flash every odd" routine. With the custom bot animation and some minor configurations that get reset, the nightly routine is getting to be a little much for me. With that said, I'll be keeping up on the forums, so if there is something cool added, I'll be all over it.

I am with you on that. Hasn't been too many changes lately... or at least any that we see... I have been spending a lot of time at xda reading up on some other cool things you can do to our phones:)

Everything in this ROM is working smooth as butta for me besides the GPS being off by about 30 feet.

If I remember correctly from last night - there were only 3 or 4 merges between 21 and 22. None that had any effect on us.

23, it's alivveee!!!! and since ROM manager seems to be working Im going to give it a shot... lets see what happens :)

SO pville... any inc changes? you seem to have the hook up on the info... or at least understand the gerrits :)

Looks like a tweak to the Automatic Light Sensor and Proximity Sensor, a bunch of fixes for the Click and Hero devices and a lot of translation updates/corrections.

I just added the new THUNDEBOLT boot animation to my phone... I cant afford the real thing so might as well pretend right? :) here is the link If anyone else wants it... it was ported for the skyraider ROM but works just fine on CM nightly...

Thunderbolt Bootanimation Skyradier ROM - xda-develop

Do you just flash like normal and do u lose it if you update nightlies

Not really, I will exlpain how to do it in a few hrs.. busy right now :)

md17; First question? Have you ever changed your boot animation before? if yes, than you just do it the same way as any other boot animation (just make sure they fit the screen size of our phones:))

IF NOT-> Here is how I do it... FOLLOW CAREFULLY :)
1:if you do not have any type of file manager that works with root, then I suggest (Super Manager app by Gpc) it is the same as Root explorer but FREE and IMO easier to use... that being said, these are the directions using the app Super Manager, not Root explorer (i have never used that app)
2: Find a Boot animation that you want and download onto your PC. must be renamed bootanimation
3: open supermanager app and go to setting and check the box for enable ROOT funciton. then back up and Open File explorer
4: Find "sd card (looks like a chainlink in front of it) and open it then scroll until you find ' bootanimation.zip " and long press and select copy. then back up again and click on 'system' (there is a folder in front of it)
5: when you click on 'system" a message will pop up asking to switch to R/W, yes click on the R/W button. then the folder will open up and you need to then find the MEDIA folder and open it. long press on the 'boot animation.zip" and select delete (if a message pops up just say OK.
6. click on the Clipboard at the bottom of the screen and it will place the copied bootanimation.zip that you copied earlier... after that you need to press the menu (soft button at bottom of phone) and then select Switch system R/W, and select R/O....
7: exit out of it and reboot your phone :) easy as that.
just to be on the safe side have a nandroid back up , i always to. and unfortunately everytime you reflash a new nightly you will have to do this again but it only takes like 5 seconds once you know how to do it :)

Let me know if this helps. click the thanks button if so, if not, let me know :)

BTY: installing a new splash screen is even easier... just find one you like and Rename the file PB31IMG and place it on the root of your SD card. Power down, hold volume down + power... and let hboot do the rest. When prompt to install, press volume up. Then reboot and enjoy

One thing I noticed with 22 is the ability to "purge assets" under performance settings in CM. has that always been there?

Just ran a benchmark test with the Smartbench 2001 app for the new nightly... results below... I am getting much lower results than I was with 21 and lower nightlies (not by much, but I was hitting the 1100 mark at least!) what up with that?
