Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1.1

Yeah, that is a VH build issue for sure.

Was pretty sure about that too. I had an issue one time after unplugging my phone where it was at 100% and then about an hour later my battery icon caught my attention because it was cycling between about 90% and 100%... After laughing at it for a bit, I plugged my phone back into the charger and then removed it and it was fine from there on out!

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1.1

You may also notice other nuances like up time not reporting properly because of the battery issue. Its like the battery stats are not saving properly.

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1.1

I have noticed that too. Seems that ZVH files are the only thing holding back our ROMs!!

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1.1

Sinc VC was buggy (boot loops), VD was stable. ZVH is buggy, so soon maybe we'll see ZVJ

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1.1

I wanted to make something completely clear. On the install process #4 - Wipe: system, cache, data, dalvik cache (everything) - I'm assuming you mean to format all that or am I just being still asleep and not understanding. Please make my mind work for me. Thanks. Lol

You are correct! :) (it's called wiping in the recovery menu)

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1.1 built-in apps2sd and storage management

I had created a ext4 partition when I had reborn. So all I need to do is to execute the a2sd reinstall command. Is this correct? Thanks.

Correct! Thanks for reading. :)

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1 built-in apps2sd, storage management, OCa

I am having some trouble with the a2sd.

I had already loaded all my apps and moved most of them over to SD using Ti Backup. I did not know if this would cause a problem, so I did a factory reset from recovery (probably a mistake on my part). Two things happened that were different. When I rebooted the system, the animation changed from the blue android character to the normal ANDROID word when the system was booting. When I went to Manage Application from settings, the memory used showed 50 MB. After first loading OptiROM, it showed almost no memory used. Also, when I did the factory reset, there was a message about SD-EXT partition. I don't remember what it said, but I do not remember seeing it before.

I started the terminal emulator and entered the a2sd reinstall. Some things were displayed on the
As I added my apps, the amount of memory got less and less. I now have about 145 MB used and 20 MB free.

Any ideas on what happened or what I should do to get this working?

Sometimes it's more difficult to backtrack than it is to just start fresh, so this is what I would do... Just follow the original instructions on page one that start with download ROM, blah, blah... But make sure you clear everything first, then flash the debugsystem.zip. Then after those two steps are done, flash the ROM. You can now boot and re-enter your a2sd reinstall (make sure you have superuser permissions by typing 'su' first) command. Then all of your apps will install to the sd-ext partition. Also, they will not show that they are installed on the sd card in the menu. The phone doesn't "know" that you are using the sd-ext partition and this is why it doesn't show under "apps on the sd card" section in Applications. Hope that clears it up for you.

EDIT: You can verify that you have installed apps to the sd-ext by typing the 'df' command in from adb shell or in terminal emulator. It will show that some of your partition is being used. :)

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1 built-in apps2sd, storage management, OCa

I reinstalled the ROM as you had suggested, and everything is working now. Ti Backup shows 172 MB total and 110 MB free of internal memory, and 1.00 GB total and 779 MB free of a2sd memory.

df shows 124 MB total and 6 MB free of cache (and data/dalvik-cache). I had to reboot to recovery and clear cache partition so the market could finish updating my apps. I don't suppose there is a way to move the cache to the sd card, is there?

Good to hear! You can move dalvik to sdcard however it is not recommended and may reduce some speeds (unless you have a very high class memory card). You can try it at your own risk. I haven't tested it yet. a2sd cachesd

EDIT: Don't tell anybody I told you that :p

For all the problems and complaints about the gingerbread rollout, I have to say I am thoroughly enjoying opti-rom with a custom launcher and have had no issues since the new version rollout yesterday. Keep up the great work.

I got a FC from LauncherPro. I selected the option to close LP. The screen was blank except for the notification bar. The phone did not respond to any buttons. I had to remove the battery to restart the phone.

I reloaded the ROM. A short time later the same thing happened.

I removed OptiROM because I cannot be without my phone.

I only tried OptiROM with the apps on SD card. When I get a chance, I will try again with the apps stored in internal memory.

Good to hear! Thanks! Glad you enjoy it. Maybe you can tell us what custom launcher you are running in case others wanted to run one.

How did you install the launcher and how did you switch to it? FWIW, I am running all SD features including apps2sd and installed launcherpro and haven't had an issue. I used the "home switcher" app from the market to "launch" launcherpro and it has been working great. I am also overclocked using CPU tuner and smartass2 governor. I think the home switcher is important. I don't know what steps you took but hope this helps!

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1 built-in apps2sd, storage management, OCa

@basketthis Did you make any changes to framework-res.apk or the build.prop for your latest release?

Also, I could "script up" all your A2SD set up commands to if you need. Thats a lot of stuff to be typing into a command prompt on this little phone, lol

Let me know on either account... I'de be glad to help.

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1 built-in apps2sd, storage management, OCa

ADW is actually working really well for me right now, and I've also got my apps running off the SD card. I didn't do anything special, just copied them over as they installed. Looking forward to future builds, the reason I started using the launcher was so I could back it up and restore it as new builds of opti-rom are released.

I posted in the "post your homescreen" thread if anyone is interested in what my opti-rom based device with the ADW launcher looks like. :D

I get a package file is not valid on installing from market. Have 100 MB free on internal.
