Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1 built-in apps2sd, storage management, OCa

Let me start by saying I love the rom, and I'vem been waiting on a gb rom that supports ext4. Problem is I don't know how to set up ext 4 on my sdcard. I've read just about every thread on the subject and found the one on "how to for reborn and cm7". But since I'm on gb now I wasn't sure if those instructions would work.

My question is," is the instructions in the first post of this thread how to set up my sdcard? or is there more to it than that? Thank you in advance.

I get a package file is not valid on installing from market. Have 100 MB free on internal.

I have never seen this issue. You can try to move the dalvik partition to the internal memory with the command from the first post. I believe it was nocache. I'm on my phone right now...

That is a brief explanation. If you understand the instructions then by all means, you can follow those directions. :) its a matter of partitioning (in recovery menu. It's under advanced in recovery) the sdcard. It will wipe/format the card at the same time so be prepared and remove all the files you want to keep. Then while still in recovery, execute the 5 or 6 lines of commands to format the SD-ext to ext4 file format so that it can be read by the system, reboot and execute the a2sd reinstall command and you are good to go! ;)

Thanks man. I'm getting ready to do it now. I'll check back after. Man our phones would not be near as good without all the folks on this forum. Thanks!

I cleared the dalvik on recovery but havent tried moving it.
Did load a lot of programs before seeing this issue , and all are fresh programs. Most from Amazon market, then android market the ones that I was missing.

Yes, an inherent flaw in storing dalvik to cache is that large apps will store large amounts of stuff to that partition and could overwrite some of the data. I've noticed this issue particularly with the Facebook app and others like angry birds. Facebook in particular can turn into a 60mb app very quickly and corrupt your data. An easy solution to this would be to move the cache to the SD or he the apps to SD. I haven't experienced any issue with having apps on SD. If you choose to do the apps to SD, it may be a good idea to move dalvik back to international memory. ;)

The apps are already going to SD ext. Did the apps2sd fix on first posting.

I'm back. the instructions in the first thread worked perfectly.Although I could not tell by looking on the phone. I had to go to my Ubuntu side of computer to see it. It showed 512 ram system\3.5 gig system. Funny it show up as two sperate drives. Anyway thanks for your help

Yes they are going to the sd card, but they are going in the partition part of the card, if you would move the app to the sd card it would move it to a different part of the card. so of like moving the app from internal storage to the sd card. Remember this sort of tricks the phone in using the sd card partition as internal storage. Aleast that is they way I understand it (I am also running the data2ext and NOT apps2sd). I am sure someone can verify this for apps2sd that is using it now.

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1 built-in apps2sd, storage management, OCa

Love the rom! Only problem Ive run into is that it cant see or connect to adhoc networks that my adapter creates.

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1 built-in apps2sd, storage management, OCa

I am also having this problem with no space on system partition, this is from a fairly new install with a2sd reinstall and nocache commands being done...any Idea why its doing this?

does data2ext work with this rom? I have never had a problem with it...

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1 built-in apps2sd, storage management, OCa

Do cache2sd (not dalvik to cache) and it should work for you... What apps are you installing?

A bunch of apps, i am doing cache2sd and nocache will enable the cache then do cache2sd again see if it does anything..

Might want to explain how to do cache2sd for those who are not that knowledgeable in doing this.

Always happy to help, hit that thanks button if I did

Couple pages back. ;)
Good to hear! You can move dalvik to sdcard however it is not recommended and may reduce some speeds (unless you have a very high class memory card). You can try it at your own risk. I haven't tested it yet. a2sd cachesd

EDIT: Don't tell anybody I told you that :p

Cache to SD worked fine for market installs. Thanks

Just posted over in the kernel thread, but I had the screen go off center 3 times tonight, requiring a reboot to fix.

This was a clean install of the rom, followed instructions to the t. Have had zero issues before this, so I'm wondering about the health of my phone, since it's obviously an isolated incident.

What exactly do you mean by off center? I possibly experienced the same thing just the other day. It looked like a busted CRT TV. Never happened again though.

Had it once too. Screen went offcenter (Everything moved to the right a bit ) when I overclocked to 806. Dropped to 787 and it went away. Back to 806 and no issues yet

Please find a way to include the cm7 camera app. The stock one sucks ass.

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1 built-in apps2sd, storage management, OCa

Anybody experiencing screen glitch issues, try a different governor or speed. Every phone reacts differently to overclocking. The governor makes a difference too. Smartass2 seems to work best for my phone and i have not experienced any issues since originally playing around with it. This is not a Rom issue so don't worry guys.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. Just remember when overclocking phones you are in the wild-west of tweaking and your phone could react any number of ways. It most likely doesn't mean that your phone is broken or having issues, it probably just means that it doesn't work well with those settings. Try different settings and see what works to your satisfaction.
