In addition to everything I have listed for you to try above, what state is your wife's phone in? ie, what radio (ZVD, ZVH) and what ROM?

My wife and I are useing zvh and use opti-rom but grom did the same thing. The big reason we switch to zvh was cm7 starte crashing bad on us even after fresh eeverythingg install apps werennt craashing Google framwork was.crashing and I know cm7 is not relates to this.forum but cm7 we didn't have the auido wifi issue

It seems that you are having one of the worst experiences with the ZVH update that I've heard. What makes me curious though is that its happening on both of the phones that you did. It would be very unlikely that the issue would happen on both of them exactly the same way as you are describing. It may be a possibility but very unlikely. I would first suggest starting from scratch on one of the phones and be sure that you are performing every step. Also, once you have, download drews newest kernel and flash it in recovery (without wiping anything). See if the issue presents itself after doing it over. Remember when doing this to wipe everything and flash the systemdebug.zip before flashing the Rom!

As a last resort this would be my suggestion: If you do understand that the difference here is sprint/LG issue, and have exhausted all options. I suggest looking into reverting back to ZVD and using a ZVD Rom that works the way you would like it to.

So is there anyway we can track down this adhoc wifi issue? Maybe get a fix?

We've been working on it. Really really hard.

Ad-hoc mode works perfectly fine using the included Wireless Tether for Root Users app. Which means you can connect your laptop just fine (that's what you want it for right?).

What does not work is Infrastructure/AP mode, which would allow you to tether other Android devices (namely tablets), Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, etc.

We have managed to get AP mode to *work* under ZVH but there are some MAJOR issues that still need to be ironed out. Basically we are able to turn AP mode tethering on, but once it's on only a reboot will turn it off.

Basically we're only about 30% there. It's not so simple as "tracking down" an issue, as it involves MAJOR hacking of critical parts of the system that are only available in binary form.

Have you guys messed with the beta versions of Wireless Tether for Root Users? (android-wifi-tether - Wireless Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting) I removed the market version and installed the beta download from their google site (after removing the included version, I wiped cache from recovery before installing the beta). After playing with some settings (device profile - auto, even though there's an optimus S option!, setup-method - Netd (master)), I connected to it from my laptop, and it appeared to be in infrastructure mode (not ad-hoc!), based on the Windows 7 icon in the wireless AP list :) I also connected to it from my wife's HTC Hero, and it works!

Unfortunately, it reboots when you disable the tether... so that's rather frustrating.

Anyways, I assume you guys have seen this already, but I pulled all this info from the Nexus S 4G forums (which is coming tomorrow - woo!), here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...-using-android-wifi-tether-3g-4g-2-3-7-a.html

Hope this can help someone and move things forward!

Now that IS interesting. We'll look into it for sure, thanks for the info.

What we're really trying to do here though is have a pseudo-native tethering option using the Hotspot Widget. Meaning being able to change tethering settings and whatnot using the native settings menu.

That's what I figured, hopefully you can at least borrow some code to save some time. Thanks for all you guys are doing with kernel and roms, made a good little phone even better! Thankfully I wont have to leave this community when I switch to the nexus, as this phone becomes my wife's! (I just can't help tinkering on her phone too)

Drew, just an FYI, have been using the Beta 6 since it was released about a month and a half ago. It works great on 3G and 4G. I use it my Evo 3D and Optimus ROM's.

One issue that is encountered in the Optimus ROM is some people report a reboot after shutting down in infrastcuture mode. We had a brief discussion on it here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...s/125269-wifi-tether-errors-lg-optimus-s.html But yeah, my ROM users are using it well (besides the random reboot, lol)

I guess the reboot can be considered a "minor inconvenience" in this case. Lol.

Yeah, thats what I am saying too! It doesn't reboot on the 3D, it works well. But it does reboot on the optimus. I don't have service to the Optimus so I cant test it myself or capture logs, etc... But a guy in my thread said he caught the log of failure and sent it to the Dev.

HEre is the kicker though... It supposed to be Optimus S compatible and even has a setting for Optimus S in the main drop down settings. Go figure! (I wonder if anyone noted that before??)

I told my ROM users they can deal with the reboot on shutdown or uninstall it and run the one in the market. Its easier to uninstall this one than it is to install it. Thats my theory.

But at least there are options!

Damn this ROM is smooth & scorching fast...Well done, well done.

Re: [ROM] Opti-ROM v1.1 built-in apps2sd, storage management, OCa

rom is great. ive been running grom which is also great but i thought id give this a run cuz of the built in app2sd storage managment and im loving it. now im torn between the 2.....great work guys. i updated to zvh early and was a little worried if there was going to be roms to make it worth it and even though there is only two neither disappoints.

No I create an adhoc network with my desktop and connect my phone to it, but the phone can no longer see adhoc networks (tested with an atheros and broadcom card)

I can use the tether app on my optimus to connect my nook color running CM7 to my phone and havent noticed any issues
