Samsung.com S10/+: Pre-Order Thread

Gotcha. I hear ya. Samsung uses Digital River it seems. Anyone, correct me if I'm wrong?? DR is active on the evenings during the weekend so hoping (I think) that my cancel option disappears later tonight.

After cancelling my first order, I did use the reservation email for a wireless fast charging stand and looks like they will be shipping together. I went to Samsung accessories a few days ago and added the charger to an empty cart and got "will ship March 4th".

My order for the S10+ and the charger both still say "will arrive by March 8th". I figured I'd check though cause I'd be frustrated if my phone was held due to a charger I added. If it is DR, I've heard plenty of not so good things on pre-ordering but have never had an issue myself.

Guess it's the usual those with good experiences aren't running around to share, but the negatives get repeated/posted all over.

The shipment logistics always happen over the weekend. We should expect some movement on Monday. This is from my experience with the 2 previous notes pre-orders. DRI is notorious for their lackluster processes. Last year, they sent out the shipment notices way late. I found my tracking number by looking up fedex using my order number as reference.

Those of you who don't have the option to cancel, is that on the app or Samsung.com?

My credit card was already charged and mine says ship by 15th.

Technically, no, it wasn't. They put a hold on it, a hold which will expire when they don't put the charge through. They're just checking to make sure you're probably good for it.

When the time comes, then they'll put a charge on that they'll push all the way through.

Hello,

I placed the S10+ order on the 22nd after being approved for Samsung Financing (Handled by TD Bank). I got the authorized hold charge (Used the credit line) and the order status is now pre-order. However, I found out the charge disappeared from account next day (23rd), but the order is still active. The credit line refunded as well. I called TD bank and they don't see any records that I've purchased the S10+. It is like I haven't order anything yet. So I called Samsung and they confirmed the order. I was told to wait for a few days until the charge appears on the account. To be clear, I received order confirmation email from Samsung the day before (22nd).

Right now, the order page shows S10+ is on pre-order status and cancel button.

Is it normal for pre-order process? Anyone had similar experience? I am just worried that I might have to re-order again if there is an issue.

Hey buddy! So I also preordered the Galaxy S10 Plus on February 22nd, and the initial charge was taken out of my account. This first Payment is what businesses call a "pre-authorization hold". Basically that means that when you initially submitted your offer Samsung requests a authorization hold from your bank. The bank then gives necessary information back to Samsung, mainly whether or not the total cost of the phone is available in your account when the preorder was first submitted. This authorization hold should show on you bank statement for a few days.

Exactly like what happened to you happened to me! Basically Samsungs initial "Authorization hold" is proof that you have the funds. A normal authorization hold, initially will set aside the amount needed for purchase, this is where both you and I saw that amount on our bank statements. Many other businesses like Samsung use authorization holds as a security measure for themselves. However the authorization holds most company's due typically will only "hold the initial payment amount" for around 48 to 72 hours, the length of time can depend on your bank and their policies as well. For both of us we freaked out when we randomly found the payment money back in our accounts. Because we preordered and it would be between 2 to 3 weeks due to delayed shipments our a"uthorization hold" expired and that's why we noticed the funds once again available. This is not something to worry about, companies usually won't hold funds for long periods or time, the delay in shipping meant that because we would be waiting 2 to 3 weeks before I item shipped, out authorization holds ended and the funds of our initial preorder payments were made available again. Again dont worry, your preorder should 100% still be in Samsungs system (mine was when I called customer support). In my case my preorder of the S10 Plus says "will ship by March 15th", so the pre-authorization hold we both made when preordering will once again be withdrawn from our accounts. Usually 1 to 2 days before or 1 to 2 days after our phones ship out!! At that point you should once again be able to see that your payment was taken out of your account! It's important to know that it is imperative that you keep the amount of money needed to cover the cost of your original S10 preorder, otherwise when they go to ship your phone and the amount you owe them is declined due to insufficient funds your order would be canceled and I'm sure you would also lose out on whatever preorder bonus you were expecting! Keep that amount of money in your account until a few days after your phone ships. Samsung may very well try to withdraw those funds 1 to 2 days before the posted "ship by date" or they could also attempt to draw those funds 1 to 2 days after yohe phone had already shipped (though this option is unlikely), the latter would be more common! Again dont worry about it, I know its stressful and you just want everything to run smoothly! Which it will! Just remember to keep the amount of money you need available, and I garnered that closer to the ship date you will be charged and your phone will ship! Good luck buddy!

P.S. -- Sorry for the super long explanation, sometimes I just ramble when I'm typing long messages lol. Hopefully this helps bring some light to this situation (it is a common one), and helped to quell your worries!! I also hope that I didn't confuse you more or over type to the point I no longer make sense!!

Anyone seen any updates to their orders yet besides the cancel button going missing?

This is my first direct order from Samsung. what shipping service do they use in the US? Hoping it's UPS

Fedex, but Samsung Direct is another story if issues we always have to deal with. Still fighting with them to cancel my N9 order after 2 weeks of it sitting...

My husband still has the cancel button and a ship date of 3/15. Weird thing is I cancelled my order to get a different case and than cancelled that order and went with Best Buy due to the no 2 trade-ins in the same household at the same time. But anyway I just got a text on both of my cancelled orders that said I opted in to receive shipping and delivery updates and I went to Samsung they both show cancelled.

I'm with Verizon. Mine was picked up yesterday and delivering Tuesday.

I notice a lot of posts say ships by March 8th, but mine says arrives by March 8th. Is that normal?
