Samsung Galaxy S4 cannot connect to PC via USB after upgrade to Android 4.3

i didn't have a problem when i was using the supplied cable with my phone, but when i lost that and used another cable, well ever since it hasnt worked!

when i attach my samsung galaxy s4 andriod version 4.4.4 to my pc via usb it cannot connect and an notification of USB Device cannot be recognized is shown. please give me some solution for this problem.

I tried something with my Galaxy S4, it had the same problem with 4.2.2,
with 4.3 I'm hoping it will work as well. Here is what I did to make it connect to PC without debugging mode.(I turned it off)
First I went to my phone and dialed *#7284#, it then took me to a usb option, for 4.3 it's *#8080#
Once it goes thru you click on Qualcomm USB Settings, next there should be 7 options to choose from. I used MTP+ADB
As soon as I did that it connected to my PC, and everything was accessible again. All functions of my phoned worked and I did not need debugging mode anymore.
Hope this works for others, keep me posted.
Cheers

I never consciously upgraded to 4.3. It is what is on my phone. I found the developer mode and turned on USB Debugging. I have no idea what kies is. I did a search and found what looks like a game in the play store. This worked fine on my PC at work earlier today. It does not work at the PC at home any more and it did earlier in the week. Should I take the phone back to verizon and ask them to fix it?

Go to settings more about device find the build number keep tapping it until you get developer options hit the back button turn on developer options go down the list and hit the revolk USB it will reset it as 4.3 has an rs a key it assigns to your computer if it doesn't read the key no access you should see a small box pop up when you reconnect it to allow it click allow and you should be able to connect

Hi everyone, I have tried ALL the above fixes, and my pc WILL NOT LOAD S4 DRIVERS. It also won't install KIES3 it simply "STOPS WORKING" when trying to install.
Is this a PC issue, or a GALAXY S4 issue????
PS, I can't find any solutions on here :-\

Did you up date your galaxy s 4 firmware to new 4.3 one and found problem with transferring data and media to your desk top computer and laptop computer ??
or have you recently bought a new galaxy s 4 mobile set with new firmware 4.3 and have the same aforementioned issue !?

STOP testing weird ways ! STOP buying new usb cables and hurting your device !
the solution is some thing really easy and just a simple factory reset is needed after you purchase a galaxy s4 with android 4.3 or after you update your galaxy s 4 to new 4.3 android version ! the only thing you have to do is a simple factory reset action and after rebooting your phone
there are 3 options you have to check them and set your device from manual mode to automatic one and MTP will be set to auto action and transferring mode ! every thing is done now ! enjoy transferring your media and data files to your laptop or desktop computer ! and enjoy your galaxy new brand s 4 !
(after this operation your developer option will go hidden , to bringing it back u only should go to setting>more>about device> then tap the build number section for 7 times , developer option will be brought back to its previous location at setting>more>developer option )

regards !

I found a simple way around - go to Menu Start on your PC, click on Devices and Printers - your mobile should be on the list of available devices (ei. as Portable media player). Right click, choose Browse file - you should now have an accees to the phone memore and - if available - memory card.

By some reson it is now working as before - once you plug in the usb cable you can choose an option to Browse file from a pop up window. I'm not sure if I've done anything else, I was trying to change some options on the mobile as well, just random ticking and unticking options in the settings menu...

OK you can also check your device manager as well and see if there is a yellow triangle by your s4 if there is you might have to re download the USB drivers especially if you went from 4.3 to 4.4.2 you need new drivers download the newest kies and extract the drivers from there

i have upgrade to os android 4.4.4 in my samsung galaxy S4 but not connect to laptop via USB cable now. but charger is running please tell me the solution

I'm having the same issue, I cannot connect my mobile (Galaxy S4) via my PC. When I go to storage, I don't have 3 dots.

More info: When I first got my S4, I had no issue, I plugged it in to my PC and the file would pop up and I could transfer things easily. Now when I plug it in, I get nothing. I really loved the ease of transferring files this way, especially larger word docs that I didn't have to type out on my mobile.

I'm using Android Version 4.4.2

I tried the "build number" to become a developer and I've done a factory reset on my phone. Which irked me beyond belief, but I've only had it a few weeks, so I figured, wth.

I really don't want to install Kies, so I'd really appreciate being able to access my files on my mobile from my PC again.

This is not the first time after an update I've been displeased with the outcome. Maybe it's time to go back to an iPhone, then I don't have to worry about accessing it from my PC. :p

Anyway, thanks for any help. (And yes, I'm reading along, I was half asleep when I originally posted and did not realize there was so many pages of replies. Should have known better!)

Edited: Yes, I did the USB Debugging and yes, I'm using the cable that came with the phone. Still, nothing.

Trooperxxx had the solution for me, it was the cable.
"I experienced the same issues after getting the S4. The solution: You MUST use the USB cable that came with the phone. If you use another USB cable, it will charge but will not connect to a PC. Once I used the supplied cable that came with the phone, it connected, was recognized by my PC correctly and was able to access the phone files on the sd card and phone memory. My phone is from Verizon and is on Android 4.3"

Thank you for the help!
