Test Kernels From Adrynalyne (updated 1/21)

Hi Adryn, I would be happy to test, but it looks like the kernels you have posted under Test 3 are the same as for Test 2. At least the links are the same and md5sum is reporting the same value for both after I download. Slap me if i've got my head up my arse.

Some phones are definitely more sensitive than others, I get a little popping on test 2 if I'm loading a big web page while listening to music, otherwise no

test 3 sv nv 01/16 kernel results: there is only popping now when facebook is updating or the browser is loading a page, then it stops. otherwise music plays nicely. :)

:cool:double ultra perma-thanx to Adrynalyne! from me

following this thread... the original 1230 kernal works excellent, except for the popping I hear in all my audio (podcast and audio books). Seems to work perfect otherwise.

Josh Grobin gets no joy from the latest kernel either. If the screen is illuminated and the app (mixzing or music) is running in the foreground, I get the popping. If the screen is off, as it usually is when I listen to music, no issues.

So should I just run with the Test #2 kernel, and save a little battery juice since the performance is basically the same? Other than this extremely minor nuisance, the Test #2 kernel works great so far.

Have you guys checked your widgets? Battery widgets for example can cause regular popping. Could be the kernel too, everyone's phone reacts differently.

I loaded up an app (dog whistle) used it and noticed popping sounds... then every time my email, SMS, and voicemail notifications activated - pops..

It didn't happen with music or with speaker phone use... Even after I unloaded the dog whistle app the popping remained..

I switched to JT's 12/30 and the pops were there.

Flashed Adrynalyne's test 3 - and the pops are gone.
Edit: Popping returned after I let the phone run for about an hour. Re-flashed and it appeared to address the problem.
Edit 2: Popping returned again after reflash. Resorted to an old standby of stupidfast 12/20... no popping since.

Edit (Final): I flashed back to Non voodoo test 2 and it appears to function without any popping... I will stick with it for a while.

I am running test 2 non-voodoo and loving it. No popping for me but I don't normally listen to alot of music. I did run through a few songs to test it though. Used BT more than normal today and had a awesome battery day today.

Loving it. Might try voodoo soon ;)

Still can't get boot animation to work on Test 3. Shut down animation works fine and I get desired audio on boot. The the animation itself will not change.

@adrynalyne Like I said before, I think that stupid market boot animation changer app did something screwy to my phone. However, this kernel is working great and I guess it's not the cause of the issue. I think I was just hoping someone would have an answer as to why it's messed up.

I went into system/media and poked around. I moved samsungloop.qm to the sdcard; I thought that could be what was holding it (just a guess) but I still have the same issue.

Regardless of my small, self inflicted problem, your work is awesome and I appreciate it greatly.

@gunnermike53 Aperature Science, I've tried donloading/flashing through ROM manager and have tried flashing I directly from clockwork with the .zip file that adynalyne very helpfully provided. The problem persists.

I'm running superclean with the 12/30 kernel currently and I'm loving it. But i'm itching to flash something new... I've been messing around adding boot/shutdown animations but I'm thinking about trying out these kernels and/or try this voodoo kernel. My question to those of you that are testing these kernels is, are these better than the 12/30? I've been trying to read up on voodoo but I seem to get mixed reviews on different forums... some say the negative press is from user incompetence others say there's no real noticable benefit other than quadrant scores... IDK i'm a noob. But i trust you guys on this forum above other forums. any feedback would be much appreciated.
