things you notice after installing leaked froyo for droid x

For people who use the stock alarm app, I advise you uncheck volume (increasing volume) when you're in the alarm app and set the alarm volume in the settings all the way up.

I just slept through my alarm for the first time in months because I couldn't hear it. I noticed by checking volume (increasing volume) it makes the alarm ring from the lowest to the highest volume set. The volume I had set for alarm volume was at the halfway mark and with the volume option checked it's not a surprise that I slept through it.

I didn't notice this in 2.1 but it surprised me because overall, the X is louder in 2.2.

I'm getting "Parse error" when trying to install non-market app my sent me via email. With 2.1, I used to be able to click on the apps and install them within the email. Now I can't. I had to download it to the SD first.

Is there a chance the app was too big and wasn't fully downloaded in the email message? That's the only reason I can think of as to why it would not work.

FYI, Motorola is making MDW pull the update.zip file off their site so if you are hesitating on doing the upgrade, be sure to go atleast grab it from one of the mirrors before it disappears

I tried to download via email message, it did not work. Some of the file data did not come through. Instead, did direct download from browser on X. This worked great! Now have 2.2 running, loving having it back (had it on my Nexus One).

I don't think so. I was able to install them when my DX was on 2.1.

A few questions before installation ...

Unrooted, unadultarated Droid X install with apps, ADW, photos, music, etc.

1. Do I have to reset the phone before applying the upgrade?

2. If not, will all apps, etc still be installed after the upgrade?

3. Does the native e-mail app now work in IMAP (will it delete e-mails off the server when you tell it to)?

4. Is the whole landscape vs. portrait MMS orientation thing fixed? (Droid X 2.1 will not send portrait pix, turns them sideways)

Launcher Pro plus

I like using launcher pro plus And its works great with 2.2 as far as I can tell....

The only issue I have is I want LPP to be my home screen all the time.
Moto Mcblurry keep wanting to be running the show .When I push home button it activates Moto blur home page and the screens that came with 2.2.
How do I change the fuintion of the home button??? I did it in 2.1 but now I'm a little stumped.
As of now the only way I get LLP to activate its screen is with a LLP shortcut on the Mcblurry screen.

Can you tell I don't like Motorola Blur???

Thank You
Ps i'm unrooted

Pss lots of good stuff on this thread GOOD read

Go into settings/applications/manage applications
Find the "Home" application, click it and choose clear defaults. Then next time you press the home button be sure to check the set default action box and press LPP

On 2.1 LPP installed its own function to the home button...have you tried reinstalling LPP to see if it will overwrite the home button function again?

NVM, LS9999 gave a better answer :D

Thanks for the reply I don't get a default action box and their are nodefaults to clear (greyed out).

4) Install the RSDLite 4.7 program by double clicking on the program. Move the pst_flash.ini file into the following folder [Program Files/Motorola/RSDLite]

Where do you find pst_flish.ini file?

Can anyone check to see if you can assign specific tones per contact for sms/mms messages?

I didnt download any third party apps in the short time I had 2.1, so I didnt realize it was a problem. But, I did get the same parse error today with 2.2. I downloaded "tAttachApkInstaller from the Marketplace (free app) and I was good to go.

I just hope I can OTA install the official 2.1 when it comes out.
