Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

As little as 2 weeks ago, I have worked with the 4g cards that were having the handoff issue. It was not fixed in December

I didn't suggest it was fixed in December. Read my post again. Also, what models were you using? Both of them or just one?

I did misread the post. Sorry. Have been using both the LG and Pantech cards. The LG has been more problematic than the Pantech.

Ah, that actually makes perfect sense. The Pantech and the Thunderbolt both use the Qualcomm MDM9600 multi-mode chipset. The LG uses a chip that was designed by LG. There's actually a HUGE difference between the two; the LG doesn't use a true multi-mode chipset. Instead it uses both an LTE chip alongside a CDMA chip. The MDM has it all together. Its speculation, but because the two technologies are so far apart it could be that LG's setup just doesn't handle the handoff well.

Since the MDM9600 is qualcomm, and that company is a huge provider of equipment for the LTE network, it is entirely likely that they have been working with Verizon non-stop to fix the issue. Because the chip is all Qualcomm, its also likely that they're having an easier time fixing it than LG, with its dual-chip set up.

Since the 24th hasnt been announced officially.. Its already tuesday... What makes you think it will come out thursday... I have a bad feeling they might flake out again and move it to like next week

I want the bolt as bad as the next person but how are they flaking out? Verizon has never announced the 24th. People inside have leaked a tentative date but there has never been an official one.

Ok, so i was looking around on the verizon site just to see if there was any new info... Chat pops up so what the heck...
It really ticks me off that they will let a seemingly unknowing consumer waste 1/4 workday to go to a store knowing the phone is not available.
Of course, i am sure that it ticks them off that people waste half their time with mundane questions (but at least they are getting paid for it)

Please hold for a Verizon Wireless sales representative to assist you with your order. Thank you for your patience.

You are now chatting with 'Elsberth'

You: Teri

Elsberth: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?

You: I have been seeing the ads for the thunderbolt and i was trying to add a line to get it, but i can't find it under smartphones

Elsberth: Unfortunately it is not offered online as of yet.

You: Oh, so i need to pick it up in store?

Elsberth: You can check a local store.

You: My phone is not working well and i need a new one asap

You: Ok, i will do that in the morning

Elsberth: Will their be anything else tonight?

You: nope, thanks

Chat reps or phone reps don't always have all the info. Last Sunday, I called to activate a replacement phone for my other line and while talking to the rep, I asked her about TBolt and also about its Best Buy availability. She said "(Best Buy) have had it since Feb 6". What she probably meant was BBY had started taking preorders.

I am a Storm 1 owner who believe it or not is still on his original Storm 1. It is dying daily and I am leaving on a 2 week business trip Friday so I have been following this launch closely. If the Tbolt doesn't show Thursday I have to get something else. I made 4 calls this AM. 2 were corporate Verizon stores, one said they did not have a launch date but it would be in my best interest to stop by Thursday AM. I replied so it is launching Thursday? She replied that she was not permitted to state a release date but I should be there when they open Thurs. The second said it would be released Thursday but I should call tomorrow after 1 PM and he will have his stock shipment verification to be sure. The third was a Verizon authorized retailer that stated that she received an e-mail this AM that said Monday the 28Th. The forth was the BB where I have a pre-order and they don't have a clue.

I can only surmise that corporate stores will have them on the 24th, authorized retailers it will be the 28th and BB will only know when they hit the counter.

Okay, since idle mind is devil's workshop, this anticipation for TBolt's strike is making the devil in my mind work overtime and come up with a very wild conspiracy theory for this so-called delay (In reality it is not a delay just a prolonged sadistic teasing).

My theory: Since someone posted in another thread that he saw a VZW guy using a TB and he actually let him play with it and told him it was amazingly good phone, it seems there is nothing technically wrong with the phone. The phone is all ready. Bounces us back to the iPhone theory. So my theory is there will be not a single hint about the release date until the 25th when the return window for the first day iPhone buyers will close. And I'm not sure if the 30-day exchange policy applies to iPhone too. If it does, then TB may not see the light of the day until March 12th or later. But we may see an announcement of the release date (for March 12 or later) some time by the end of this week or next week. That way iPhone buyers will already be locked in their contract and they will not be able to exchange the phone after March 12.

How about that for my imaginative capabilities?

it's 14 day return window ends and they count the day you picked up the phone that means the 23rd is the last day someone who picked up a iphone at launch could return it meaning 24th is way more likely of a date tghan the 25th especially since thursdays is when they usually release phones

I'd like to know if Phil has heard anything new from his 'source', although I'm not sure he'll be reading the 111th page of a thread full of heresay and rumors xD

Coming from no experience in particular, I'd say to follow the money. I think once the window for iPhone returns is up, the phone will soon follow. *fingers crossed*

I think they should change the name of this thread, to "We think it's coming out the 24th but we don't really know anymore than the rest of you do." Kind of shows how inept blogs can be at times.
