Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

I called back this morning to see if the rep I spoke with yesterday was full of crap. The new rep put me on hold for like 5 minutes only to come and advised that "We apologize sir, we still do not have a confirmed launch date". I asked if she showed that I called yesterday and what had transpired and she said yes. As soon as the date is set and approaches, we have your information on file to call you back and purchase the phone. I asked why the woman yesterday said "most vzw store will have it tomorrow", and she stated that previous literature they had did show a date of the 24th, but that the rep I spoke with looked at outdated info and that the release was pushed back, but w/o a solid date.

From seeing the newest BB ad...I am wondering if this last "delay" could be because BB didn't want to have to honor the $249 on contract price.

I got a second call from a VZW corporate store this AM saying not today. They said they were hoping for Monday but not to hold my breath. I laughed and said if I had been holding my breath, the funeral would be over by now!

So the 143 page "Feb 24th Confirmed" thread just gets deleted?? That's a lot of posts counts and thanks that just disappeared. Hope they didn't get removed permanently.

Posting this here again. Take a look at the dates and how the price changes.

Panda says that they're still trying for a Feb release (28th I'd imagine).

we are trying to get it out in feb. But next few days will tell the tale. I will update if my original date in march changes.

Do you people honestly believe that Verizon would release the phone that will crush the Iphone before the 14 day return window closes for the ones who bought the Iphone the first week. that would be a huge business mistake. look for it to come out somewhere between the 1st and 3rd Thursday of March.

Once the New 4g android units come out. AT&T will be a world of ****. since Verizon got the iphone, the only thing AT&T has to do commercials about is that you can use data and phone at the same time on their network.

Starting with the HTC Thunderbolt, you will be able to do the same thing on Verizon. That is the whole reason that the phone uses a sim card for the 4g radio.

bye bye, iphone, and bye bye AT&T....

one more note: people in the past who have been worried about the amount of app support on Android, since they just have the Market and not a store like Itunes.......those worries will be over soon. Looks like Amazon has stepped up to the plate and will be providing the future store for Google android apps.

one more question i have to ask. With the given that NO android device has EVER had a decent freaking Battery,,,,,what the hell is the 4g going to do to our Battery life? might have to carry a windmill on our shoulders to keep the phone charged.

Now that the 24th has arrived, the [Feb. 24 Thunderbolt launch date confirmed] thread and the [VZW Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion] have been merged. The first post of the 24th is confirmed discussion is here, and Phil's latest update in that thread is here and quoted below.

Hey, folks. Haven't heard anything different. But that doesn't mean things might not change.

But to repeat: You know how I feel about these "Somebody told us" rumors. I HATE THEM. And so I wouldn't have passed on the Feb. 24 date if I didn't trust the source completely. That said, things can change. So we'll see.

Now, here's a a little non-fiction story I'd like to share with you:

I work for a software company (in no way related to the TB). We've been working on a new release of one of our major software products. We were scheduled to release on March 1st, and that's the date I have been giving to a few of my top customers for the past month. Unfortunately it looks like they've found a few bugs they need to get ironed out, and the Product Managers aren't ready to give me a new date. However, I know they are close to wrapping things up, because it's been in beta for over a month. I trust they will be making the customary official release date announcement fairly soon, and my customers are happy because they'd rather wait a few days to get a solid and stable product.

It's not the first, nor the last time this will happen, regardless of which company I work for.

Carry on.

Cool story Bro......

I understand that Phil is a well respected guy in these forums but I think why some people are upset with him is that his original thread seemed just a little arrogant to me especially if he acknowledges that things do change. "I wouldn't be stating it here if it wasn't true." remark could have very well been left out, after all, all these threads are still speculation threads no matter who they are started by, just sayin.

I think that's what's so hard for people to comprehend. HTC is developing a "computer" to run and a new network. (aka Software and hardware.) It takes one little gotcha to bring everything to a hault, and schedules slip. No amount of money or man power can effect this, you can only have so many people working a problem at one time because too many and it becomes counter productive. I'm guessing the unknow release date is because of one these gotchas. The engineers and such are slaving away trying to fix a problem and nobody knows when it will get fixed. If they solved the problem today there is still a bunch of testing that will need to be done to make sure they haven't broke something else along the way. If nobody is giving even an estimated release date, then I'm guessing they haven't solved what ever problem is causeing the delay.
Just my 2 cents.
The last thing HTC or Verizon wants to release something that doesn't work. PR nightmare.

yeah, 1400mAh is weak. That's in between the Incredible (1300) and the Evo (1500). The processor may be more efficient but meh. Would've been nice to see something similar to the 1900+ that's coming with the atrix and bionic.

We also need to keep remember why its taking so long to get the Network stabilized for the T-Bolt Launch.

If u take half ur network team and have them strengthen the old network for fruit.. How are they supposed to get ur NEW network ready?

I will say it again. Would much rather have a working phone and network then a mishap right out of the gate.

BMX recently tweeted: "if u take half ur network team and have them strengthen the old network for fruit... How are they supposed to get ur NEW network ready."

I guess now that the apple launch is a bust they are concentrating on tbolt. I really (for no concrete reason) think we will see it within the next week or two based on the commercial frequencies. I've seen it ALL the time now. Both of the commercials.

Great minds... just posted the same thing.

I already have a stable phone (BB 8530)
It works, flat out. While I want this phone, I don't want it if it drops calls, locks up...or has other glaring problems.
Am I getting a little antsy? Sure. I know how good the phone is going to be.

However...I can and will wait until the majority of bugs are going to be worked out.
I work in IT...have for over 15 years. Projects can be tested and tested...but when you release it to EVERYONE, that's the true measure of success and how well you tested. People are going to find bugs.

This is a 100% hypothetical situation, so do NOT quote any part of this.
Skype not working is one thing...but if a user tried to get in to the baked in skype and the phone shut down, rebooted, froze, etc., that's a whole other thing. ( I ONLY used Skype as an example because of all the reports of problems AND Verizon taking it off their TBolt/LTE landing page) I'm just giving an example....

I want a phone that works as a phone first...

I just got an automated survey request call from VZW. I gave them poor marks in satisfaction. I doubt they will, but the prompt stated due to my satisfactory response, a manager may contact me to get more details regarding my last experience with a VZW rep. I LOL'd because if I do get a call, they are gonna get an earful. In the most polite way possible. ; )
