LOL! While I DON'T critique the posts of others publicly, MOST people would find

"I got a call from the manager at my local Best Buy today. He said that he received word that the Thunderbolt is being released on the 17th"

more credible than

"OMG the maniger from the Best Buys around the coroner just called and tole me they're Thunderbolts is gonna be their on the 17th!!"

Think of the best effects you've ever seen in a movie. It draws you into the story. Now think of those old Godzilla movies where you can see a zipper running down the back of the costume, and you're thinking "They really could have taken a few minutes and made that costume better"

Now, on to the Bolt... There seems to be a lot of "chatter" today, to borrow a term from Homeland Security. I think we're getting close. Maybe not 17th close, but I think we hear something concrete by Tuesday.

I will say, after reading this link, it makes me think that maybe, just maybe, VZW is really watching out for us end-users. Meaning, they need HTC to promise certain updates in the coming months. That sounds good for consumers. Nothing against HTC. I love their phones. But... bidness is bidness.

I received my first, and only, notification that Best Buy Mobile has reserved a TBolt for me... "Thank you for your recent reservation of the Verizon ThunderBolt 4G by HTC with Best Buy. This e-mail is an additional confirmation that your smart phone is reserved in your name. We will contact you as soon as your smart phone is available. Thank you from your Best Buy Mobile? Team!"

Hope this means the TBolt will be out soon...

As badly as HTC wants this phone released, in order to sell more to Verizon and Best Buy, I would think that they would grant approval to the final firmware revisions rather quickly, but what do I know.

The email led me to their website and a new link to TB. The old page with the lighting has been replaced with a new one containing more info. No launch date yet...

Thanks to LinxuSx I just learned that this was the original page that was there. I never saw it so it was new to me. Sorry if I created an undue disturbance in the force... However, even though Verizon changed the page back to an older version it seems like a step forward from the BS page they had up the past few weeks.

verizon is probably ready for this launch they probably have the commercials already and obviously they have demo units in stores. all they have to do is ship it which they would do right as htc is approves of everything. So we might see a release sometimes next week. This is all speculation of course but im trying to be positive
