Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

@tortan - good call, superbowl is probably the biggest advertising nite there is.

@racinbill - panda said something about a week ago like (paraphrase bc i am not going to read thru twitter for a link) 'i wouldnt be surprised if it was moved up'

Ugh!...verizon.

The Big Red just pisses me off sometimes. They should have made the bolt available on their "big announcement" day of Jan 6th. Not mention its coming, then make you wait another 2-3 or 4 months for the damn thing to be available. Bring it already FFS! Whats the hold up?

@ abomb78, I agree. I'm dying for a head to head battle between the two. Evolution vs Thunderbolt. :-D

I just want my new phone. I've heard that it will be released on every day between Feb 11 and Mid-March.

What does this tell us? NOBODY KNOWS!!!

Feb 11th would work great for me considering my current phone prob won't even last til then...oh well, good things come to those who wait...I just can't wait anymore! :)

im gonna make a new guess when it comes out. never, they will scrap it like the merge an we will see it at altell. haha joking. but yea im gettin tired of my iphone crashing lol an being super boring. i need lte an thunderbolts!!!!!!

I still feel great about it being February 11th. Believe it, or don't. Your choice obviously.

I'm confident that it will release that day, barring some unforeseen issue that would hold it back (not counting the date simply being wrong, which I doubt).

i really hope it is... my mother and brother got new droids today... and im stuck with a friends flip phone.. i have been eligible since september for a new phone, i saw the merge but that merged away form verizon as fast as it came... Verizon really has not release anything new, ok a new droid 2 which has global, and a couple other crappy motorola's

a. they just don't do it for me
b. i hate motorola, i think they are cheaply made + plus hate blur... (even if they arnt)

So i would love if the thunderbolt is here in the next couple weeks. what really makes me mad about Verizon is that they hype everything up... such as LTE but its available like almost no where.. and i wont be seeing it for another year where i live. Then it take them forever to produce a new phone.... but look how fast they put out that iphone crap.. (up on the site the day they announced it was coming to them... ill let the iphone tards go spend all there money on that crap (i know its cheap) but anyways i just felt like i needed to rant since alot of people just dont understand...

So i say we break into a verizon warehouse and take a few of them :) but anyways lets hope its the 11th

I wanna pick that out. The fact is, the iPhone 4 is reasonably dead technology to be releasing as a shiny new thing. Keep the demand for every GOOD device high, while getting the iPhones out to people who CAN'T be sold on anything else, even when they plan on buying what is essentially garbage.

I wouldn't say it's dead technology. They build their phones better than anyone else imo, and the iphone is about as powerful as my DInc which is nowhere near dead technology. I love Android but the fact is, apple makes good products and the iphone IS a good product.

Just because its a beautiful phone doesn't mean its perfect. It has design flaws, antenna issues, Gorilla Glass that in fact does get damaged pretty easily (screen protectors should be used) not to mention it took them 8 months out of 12 to get a white one out the door. Seriously.

I am more than happy with the constant bevy of Android tech, iPhone is fine for those who want it, Android is fine for me.

all tho the iphone really paved teh way for smartphone technology but my problem is not the hardware its self, its the people. the "apple fanboys" where every product they own has to be an apple product, and will fight you until the bitter end on how apple is the best at everything... might be me but dealing with these people has put me with a bitter taste in my mouth towards apple.

IMHO the 4g phone is an ever fast growing obsolete technology.. why would verizon just not wait to produce one with an LTE technology. In all reality verizon is doing this just to really make an economic move to fill their pockets with people who just don't understand the whole concept instead of making the customers come first. I have an Ipod and i absolutely hate Itunes.. this is another reason of why i will have have apple.

but my original thoughts would be why have they said nothing about the thunderbolt, but right after CES they have a huge conference and say "WE HAVE THE IPHONE AND ITS COMING BLA BLA BLA DAY" why dont they just do this for other phones instead of keeping it a mystery. I would make more sense so that people such as us can see when exactly the phone is coming out and make plans on getting it.. (i really think its all a terrible marketing technique)

Please don't confuse me for an apple fanboy lol. Im not trying to argue over how awesome the iphone is. Im just saying it's not a bad phone. Yea it has antenna issues, but the verizon version fixed it. Theres problems with all phones to be honest. The iphone is not dead technology. It's pretty good. If any technology is dead, it's blackberry. They are just now getting OS 6. Geez i remember hearing about it early last year. It's sad. Im so happy i got off that platform. I prefer palm over BB right now.

I think February 11 isn't going to happen. Verizon has to advertise this phone, it's the 1st 4g LTE handset, it's going to be all over tv for at least a few weeks, in magazines, etc. No way they leave this phone's promotion to internet tech sites and "news" blogs. This isn't the nexus s.

Maybe. Or maybe Verizon is playing it really safe and decided not to do an advertising blitz until they see how their shiny new network is handling the influx of tens of thousands of new users. Also, in markets that DO have LTE, the advertising for it has been non-stop, so specific ads calling out the thunderbolt wouldn't be as much of a necessity. (Sprint didn't make a huge deal out of WiMax when it launched with their modems, so they had to do it with the Evo)

Antenna issues were fixed with the Verizon version (and, having owned one, weren't a big deal AT ALL on the AT&T version). The screen isn't any more vulnerable than Gorilla Glass. I had an OG Droid that got scratched pretty easy. My iPhone 4? Went 4 months with no screen protector and there wasn't a single scratch.

The whole white thing was a combination of Apple's obsession with detail, but also with the difficulties in manufacturing a device whose face and back were glass silk-screened with white paint. Do you know how many shades of white there are? We're not talking plastic here. We're talking PAINT for god's sake. Then, because of the insane tolerances of the handset, they were having trouble getting the thickness of the paint level just right. So yeah, let's see you try to do it any quicker...

I am more than happy with the constant bevy of Android tech, iPhone is fine for those who want it, Android is fine for me.
That's what it boils down to. Apple and the iPhone works for many, many people, and so does Android. People that belittle others for that choice are just as idiotic as mindless fanboys.

Yeah, i agree. If you want an iPhone, get one. If not, then dont. BUT, you should always do your research. People who buy iPhones just because of the name are the most mindless ones.

I was at Verizon today, 1/25 with my dad because he bought a Galaxy Tab. I was supposed to get a Droid X for Xmas but I told my dad I wanted to wait until the Tbolt came out since I live in an area that already has LTE(Phoenix). Long story short the Verizon rep told me that the Tbolt wasn't worth the wait and that his X would be his phone for another 4 months and convinced me to buy one . What irritated me was that as we were leaving the store I overhead the rep talking about how he couldn't wait to ditch his X and get his hands on the Tbolt. Then I came on here and saw that BB is getting Tbolt accessories on 2/19. Should I just return my X? I feel like I just settled for an X only because I wanted to ditch my enV touch.
