Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

I missed (never got a ring just got voice mail) one call and dropped one call on my verizon phone in last 4 days.

I can't remember last time this happen. I have been customer for 6 years. Honestly I never had missed or dropped call.

What's the deal now?

...Seriously?

Okay folks. I've been doing a lot of thinking since last night's false alarm. I'm VERY close to being done letting Verizon yank me along by my techrection for this phone. Consider the following:

IF there is a release date, someone, somewhere would have found some proof by now. People can't keep secrets. We've SEEN no evidence that this phone is on it's way.

IF the phone is coming out on the 24th, that's only 10 days away. At this point, hundreds of thousands of Thunderbolts would be making their way into the country, and into the supply chain. We haven't seen ONE blurry phone picture of a Thunderbolt retail OR shipping box. If there were going to be a preorder, there would almost certainly be Thunderbolts sitting in VZWs distribution center (Texas, is it?) or en route.

In short, other than a few reports that amount to "24th, trust me" we have NOTHING. Between AC, Phandroid, Droid Life and Droidforums, we have people that work for VZW and Best Buy retail. I would imagine that there is at least ONE person who would be in a position to snap a picture of a pallet of Thunderbolt-y goodness, but we've got nothing.

In short, no leaked screens, no blurry warehouse pictures, no official confirmation. Sorry, but I'm a little too old to be believing in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy... or the Thunderbolt.

I don't think I can do this anymore. I've already sold my Incredible with a ship date of 2/25. I'll be replacing it next week one way or another.

I have to tell you because my Storm is really driving me crazy it was tempting to just walk outa there with a different phone model and say to myself something like "You make me wait to long and I defect." That's exactly what happened with Blackberry, I got sick of waiting. I know nothing about Android basically, it will be a total new learning curve for me. The one thing I do know is that this is *not* the way I wanted to be introduced to Android or my new phone.

Hell, I can get the hurry up and wait political type games at Blackberry. I am soooo disappointed that I finally decided to broaden my mind and say "bye bye Blackberry" only to run into the same kind of thing with Android. It's just very disheartening when you have a lousy phone and you really want a certain phone that is peeking out at you going "na na na na boo boo ... can't catch me hardy har hee."

Keep in mind, you are doing something that 99% of smartphone customers do NOT do, which is go online and start reading about FUTURE phone models.

At any point in time since you wanted to ditch your BB, you could have walked into a VZW store, been interested in Android, and you would have happily walked out with likely a Droid Incredible, DroidX, or Droid2.

It's not in the mobile carriers interest to release new phone details very long before they out, cause all it does is slow sales of current phones.

Hang in there for another 10 days. The TBolt is going to be a VERY nice phone. :)

Normally they don't release details much in advance so I woulds say since all these ads went live today, it's gotta be close.

First off: You can't be mad at VZW for "yanking you around". LOL... they haven't released a date for this phone! And why would they ? All it will do is slow sales of their current Android handsets. Phones are not like video game or DVD announcements. There are totally valid reasons why they don't announce these devices "officially" until they are almost in stores.

Dude, the 24th is 10 days away. Do you realize how quick hundreds of thousands of TBolts could be shipped from a wharehouse to all VZW / BB locations ? A few days. VZW could announce the thing and start playing commericals all the time 1 week before its released.

And did you ever think the VZW (and the mobile industry in general) have really laid down the pressure and law that anyone caught leaking info / pics, is flat out fired w/ no questions asked ? Most working class folks are not going to want to risk their jobs / careers just to show off some pics of TBolts in boxes a couple weeks before they hit the streets.

I'm new to smartphone forums (as of CES 2011), and the amount of b1tching and irrational behavior & logic surpasses even the PC hardware forum dudes... which is quite a feat.

Good luck in your wait til the 24th.

Don't forget... there are probably not a lot of people who have actual, documented proof of a release date. And those that do are not going to share photographic proof of that because they want to keep their job. Or, because it's not in the best interest of the company that provides for them and their family.

I know it seems trivial to us... it's just a phone, who cares... but to VZW, their vendors, their shippers, etc. it's their livelihood.

If I were to ever leak release dates for the products my company develops, I would be fired on the spot. Even though I know the release dates would be highly desirable and I would be fawned over, it's not worth the risk.

Are there people less concerned with their job? Sure. But those are people like BB store employees who have fewer issues with taking screenshots of their communications.

Look at Black Man X. If you take him at his word for what he is, he must know the release date. Has he said it once? no. Has he leaked documentation showing the release date? If he has it has not been posted. Why? Probably wants to keep his job.

Have faith. The date approaches. Has VZW screwed this up? Yes. But it's typical for them. PUnish them on Facebook and Twitter, mercilessly. They'll get the message.

Actually... he did...

@black_man_x Hey, where does it officially state 2/24/10 release for the TBolt? Thanks

@wj_johnson there hasnt been an official announcement. But it will be that day. date was "leaked" to major outlets by those that know.

This was on 2/11/11

First off: You can't be mad at VZW for "yanking you around"
I never said I was mad... but the fact remains that they have shown the phone. It's not a secret... they even tweeted that it was coming "sooner" How can something come "sooner" if there is no release date. I have every right to feel jerked around, and besides, if I was mad, I most likely wouldn't have used the term "techrection"

Verizon HAS NEVER shown off the phone. HTC, it's hardware manufacturer, has shown off the phone at CES. A date hasn't ever been mentioned, outside of "Q1" at CES.

VZW Teaser commericals stating "February" that were only found online temporarily then blocked... please. VZW's twitter saying sooner than expected... to me, that sounds like February instead of March, when Q1 ends.

When VZW officially unveils the phone, a date will come with it. Until then, you've only gotten caught up in all the online rumors, speculated dates, etc.

If you folks are going to get so stressed out about speculative phone dates, push backs, false info... stop reading and participating in future phone forums. Be excited when you see a commercial for a new phone like the other 99% of the population.

Things are getting pretty hot in here. Seems unnecessary, but whatever lol.

Anyways, I went into Best Buy today to buy a couple records for my newly found record player and the guy at who helped me with my preorder last weekend showed me a screen that said that the 24th is the day. The page had just been updated today at their store (and I'm assuming the rest of them). They said they didn't even know about a delay until yesterday, but got the 24th today.

As usual, no reason to rely on that 100%, but it's another +1 to Phil's original "confirmation" in case it matters.

A valentines day seems stupid to me. Who buys there boyfriend or girlfriend a phone? for valentines day?

Ha...my girl was going to buy it for me if it came out on V-Day. Since I convinced her to get the D-Inc on October, and held out myself (Storm 1) for the Inc HD on 11/23, and then by Christmas, and then this phone, she's sick of my *****ing and giving everyone else advice.

So ready for the 24th. Amping up my Android contract import skills, HTC Sync, backing up my BB into Outlook, moving the contents of my 8GB micro SD onto my new 32 and sticking the 8 in my girl's Nook (she giggles when I say that), and even more exciting that getting the TB will be firing my Storm off the Peace Bridge as far as I can. Oh yes, there will be video.

Seidio just needs to their dock in gear asap...

Verizon just launched the english commercials that say February. Why would they say that (with half the month over) if they dont plan on delivering?

The most frustrating aspect was the BB preorder. They gave us a "date" which got pushed back. We thought it was a done deal and it wasnt. Very annoying, but in a month when we're all playing with our bolts, will it really matter?

Anyone who gives up at this point is just silly.

Oh hell yea i wouldn't jump ship yet after how long ive waited. IT's like waiting in line for a green day concert at 5 o clock then hearing it's been delayed a few hours. Your pissed but theres no way in hell your getting outta line.

People wait in lines for those?! O.o

Anyways, I'm ok with how Best Buy is handling it. It's not like they could foresee this...
