Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

Message from Daniel S. Mead, President and CEO, Verizon Wireless,

Dear Verizon Cusomers interested in the HTC Thunderbolt from Verizon,

It has recently come to our attention that some of you are having some issues related to Verizon's first LTE Smartphone. These issues include:
A exclusive partnership with Best Buy Inc. that included a pre-order target date of February 14th
Verizon's CES statement that the device would be available in Q1 2011
Verizon's current status of not releasing avaialibility dates until right before launch.

First I would like to say that I am actually typing this message on my new Thunderbolt and it is just awesome. Secondly, If you are not currently under contract, just relax, the only reason to go to AT&T is the iphone....no wait, we have that now. If you are under contract, well, that is why we have a contract with you, so you dont get your panties in a wad when we are about to launch a new phone.

In conclusion, Rock on Android Nation...you will absolutely love playing Angry Birds on this cool new phone!

Just to add to the hysteria VZW changed there Thunderbolt website. It used to just go to talking about LTE....now it looks like this

Let assume the phone is delayed? Would you rather they release a broken phone, ala iPhone 4, or one that works out of the box? The griping on here reminds me of the people who complain when sitting on a plane waiting for maintenance to come and fix a problem. Dont know about everyone else but I like my plane 100% and I'll wait for a phone that's 100%.

That's true...I have before with 3 kids under 4 years old each...horrible. But I'd believe it'd be a bit more horrible to be up in the air with those 3 kids when a problem hit. I agree with the first poster...rather sit on the runway and suffer than the alternative.

Id prob go ahead and take it right now. This isnt life or death. I would be more satisfied having it with a few problems that would be fixed soon than waiting. I had the storm 1 at launch. Cant be worse than that...

Ha got storm 1 on launch too and youre right it cant be any worse than that phone was. And I dealt with that phone till storm 2 launch. Now I have been dealing with that crapberry till hopefully the thunderbolt launches soon enough. But I am patiently waiting, and will continue to till it gets set, already have my pre order in at BB. So I should at least get it day 1.

i agree i would like to have the phone when its at 100% But at the same time i think we are all a little bothered because we were told untruths by best buy. its only human nature to gripe and it helps us to vent as well. i think aot of us are glad that there are other users out here to relate to. Also, i think its cool verizon updated the thunderbolt site, it gives us a glimmer of hope and i signed up for the update as well on the site. plus on twitter peter chou of htc said the phones will be shipping out this week. how about that a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow

I totally agree with you. Now, I am anxiously awaiting this phone..especially since I've never had an Android phone AND I'm currently using a Blackberry Storm 1 which isn't working properly or holding a charge. I'm frustrated with Verizon that so much attention is being paid to a phone whose technology is sub par BUT I understand from a marketing and business point of view why they delayed the phone. I believe it has everything to do with the 14 day exchange policy. They really want to lock the fool's who buy the iPhone into that phone. Not everyone is as smart as we are and have done their research on technology so most people really think the iPhone is something special and have no idea whatsoever that it's soooo 2008!

Quit your whining..grow up and tell everyone you know in the market for a new phone about the TBolt and let your voice be heard in the sales number that I'm sure are going to blow the iPhones sales out of the water
