That means the release is coming soon, most likely sometime this month!

If it was sometime this month couldn't they have left the commercial the way it was?

Or perhaps "February" wasn't specific enough and they were getting too many calls asking for the phone.

Who knows. I just want to be able to run over my BB with my car.

I'm basing this on the fact that the original (now pulled) advertisement said "February", and the current ad now says "Coming Soon". The original ad may have been created to be aired in December or January, but wasn't posted until this month for some reason. I interpret that to mean that the release will now happen by the end of this month.

They won't wait. HTC CEO indicated Thunderbolts will ship this week. One would assume they will ship from HTC Distribution centers to VZW/BB Distribution centers. It would make sense they would begin to be "in stock" by this time next week which would line up nicely with a 2/24 release. It is possible it could be delayed until the 28th (but that's a Monday, and unlikely).

Yea, HTC shipping them likely means one week till VZW will distribute them to local warehouses and such. The VZW reps I talked to said that they don't get the new phones until the day before launch.

Yup. In this world of drop shipments and the real time supply chain... Verizon doesn't want a bunch of devices sitting in it's warehouses or the backrooms of it's stores until right when necessary. That crowds out other inventory which is bad.

Now VZW needs to say something about a date and pricing, etc.

Yes, but that doesn't equate to it being available for purchase and pick up this week. There are a lot more links in the chain than just HTC shipping hardware.

The weak link in that supply chain would seem to be Verizon. I got skewered yesterday for suggesting that this was all frustrating BS on the part of Verizon. Look at the facts...

FACT: iPhone announced 1/11/11. Preorder on 2/3/11, general sale on 2/10/11. Thunderbolt...NOTHING.

FACT: The original commercial said February. That's been changed to "Coming Soon" Anyone that sees that as a good sign, I'd like to borrow their rose colored glasses.

FACT: HTC is shipping to Verizon this week. If that shipment is coming from overseas, it's a week out. Then out to all the Best Buys and Verizon stores. If "this week" means Friday, there is NO WAY this phone launches in February.

FACT: The Superbowl, and now MWC have passed (at least HTCs presentation) What two better times to out a phone that is ready for release next week? Oh, I know... let's do it on the 18th, when the tech and blogging work is about to shut down for the weekend. NOPE. Something is wrong here. Don't know what it is, but Verizon has clearly missed the boat. I'm not going to pick up another piece of launch day garbage like the X or the Fascinate.

If this phone sees a single retail consumers hands before March, I will post just how wrong I was in this very same Forum.

This poses the question....."where are they shipping from?" Asia? if so boat loaded cargo takes two weeks to ship on water....i imagine they air freight though....sorry.....im in Logistics so my mind gets working on this one.

If the date isn't the 24th, or AT LEAST the 28th, I'm getting a Dinc. I can't keep my friend's Fascinate forever, and That seems like the best phone on Verizon for me atm.

But I'm still set on the TBolt under any February circumstance.

We actually have our company Verizon rep at the office today to take questions and without me even asking he said the Thunderbolt release date is scheduled for the 24th.

He also said that they were wanting to have the Bionic and the Thunderbolt release at around the same time but it is actually the Bionic that has been pushed back because of issues.

How do we know the TB is coming from HTC? Verizons wharehouse is in Texas. wouldn't take long for the shipment to get around.
