Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

Yup! Phoenix was one of the initial markets... The only problem is... My upgrade was not until August but Verizon let us upgrade early since my # has never had a smartphone as long as we renewed our contract for another 2 years. Do you think they will let me get the tbolt?

Yea just return it. You may have to pay the 35 buck restocking fee, but it's worth it. Im on my incredible and i really want a big phone NOW, but im holding on as hard as i can. The TB is a great phone. Anyways i prefer sense over the motoblur that the droid X has.

Ya wait for TB as when I seen it for the first time I fall in love with CDMA based phone :P maybe I was missing my HD2. As comparing TB to DX well not even match there as TB is using MSM8655 2G Snapdragon with Adreno 205 and has 768mb ram. Where DX well it has 512mb ram and using ol' OMAP3630 3G TI with SGX 230 GPU. They plan to upgrade to SGX 540 which is on current Hummingbird SoC's lol talk about behind the curve. In graphic term Adreno will rape SGX 530 GPU as you can truly now call TB as "Scorpion" :P I am truly impressed at the spec for CDMA based device not much 4.3" device out there other than DHD and HD2.

I was at Verizon today, 1/25 with my dad because he bought a Galaxy Tab. I was supposed to get a Droid X for Xmas but I told my dad I wanted to wait until the Tbolt came out since I live in an area that already has LTE(Phoenix). Long story short the Verizon rep told me that the Tbolt wasn't worth the wait and that his X would be his phone for another 4 months and convinced me to buy one . What irritated me was that as we were leaving the store I overhead the rep talking about how he couldn't wait to ditch his X and get his hands on the Tbolt. Then I came on here and saw that BB is getting Tbolt accessories on 2/19. Should I just return my X? I feel like I just settled for an X only because I wanted to ditch my enV touch.

I'd definitely return it...

I have been reading anything I could find about a good phone to replace my original Storm 1 (hold the snickers please). I have been out of contract since August and it has taken me some time to give up on a new Blackberry devise and start drooling over the Thunderbolt. I have talked to numerous VZW CSR's about release date or what to do to get by on my limping BB until the Thunderbolt arrives. The common theme with Verizon employees is that they love their jobs and would lose them if they leaked anything.

What I can surmise by reading between the lines and using a little common sense is that Verizon might start taking pre-order (for those who have signed up on line) no earlier than Feb 11 and start delivering 2 weeks later. This will get them past the 14 day exchange period with the Iphones and the initial Iphone customer surge. The Verizon LTE ads have a Thunderbolt theme that could easily be tagged for the Thunderbolt.

I'm fairly certain someone read February '11, as in 2011, and turned it into Feb 11th. I'm going to look for it around the 28th :)

The 14 day return and the Iphone makes a lot of sense. I am now thinking the end of Feb. also. Thanks.

The information wasn't read, it was stated. She pretty clearly said the 11th of February. That's not really something you can mix up with February 2011. lol

EDIT: I figured out what you meant after it popped back into my thoughts for some reason... But I'll leave my original response there anyways.

I don't know how their meetings go, but usually in any meeting I've been apart of, especially for something major (as opposed to 'we have to do it this month, lets go...'), there is usually someone or a few people talking. I doubt that through all of the people talking about what they needed to talk about, and on the sheet that we're assuming was in front of their faces, EVERY staff member mistook the information.

Granted, what you say is POSSIBLE. It's just not very likely at all.

I would return the X for sure. Not that it's a bad phone by any means, but why not AT LEAST wait and compare it beside the new phones coming out this next month? You'll probably have to pay the restocking fee which is, I believe, $35 (unless it already went up to $70).

I would definitely hold off for another half month before making a decision if I were you.

I have a friend who works at Verizon, and he leaves his dog at the same sitter as I do. His dog told mine, and mine passed it on to me, that the 11th is a bogus date. It's the 3rd.

What more reliable source could there be? Dogs don't know how to lie.

Take the information with a grain of salt if you don't believe it. But there's no reason to be throwing around irrationality.

"Verizon started training their employees today (yesterday at some stores) on the HTC Thunderbolt and from the sounds of it, things are still on track for mid-February. HTC reps still aren’t ready to confirm a date yet, but they were willing to mention next month as the current target. They also got up in front of the VZW reps and demoed simultaneous data/voice on their 4G LTE network, which our guys can’t stop talking about. And reps were allowed plenty of hands-on time with the device, which means we’re getting that much closer. February is 5 days away."

EDIT: I see i posted a second too late according to the post above :)

Regarding keeping the Droid X or returning it for the Thunderbolt. I had the DX, nice phone. I would return the DX, even if you just waited for the DX2 rumored for March.

Since you have 4G in Phoenix I would get the TB and more importantly the fact that the sales rep lied to you and you heard that lie as you left the store is more than enough reason to get that $35 charge waived AND have a note put on your account insuring you can get your early upgrade next month. Don't let sales people mislead you about a device, he wanted a quick sale, now he can get a quick return.

I saw that too. But they also started training a week ago, remember that? :S

3rd of Feb? That's next week.

I'd assume VZW would have at least announced a formal date or had pricing by now. I think that's got to be bogus.

@htwongtr Don't want to upset you but you might want to re-read that post. You did get the person was being very sarcastic towards our pronostications that it was coming out soon by indicating the dogs were talking?
