Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

So im new to this so ive been reading all the post and i keep getting two dates for the thunderbolts release Feb. 11 and Feb.14 does anyone know which one it is

The 11th is a Friday, I don't know of Verizon releasing any phones on Friday. Verizon is known for releases on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I will say the 14th, 24th at the latest. I was told the 14th by a person at the VZ store today so that's what I'm going with.

i say we will here something this weekend, poss before superbowl. but a commercial during superbowl will confirm everything. an pre sale for one week will be fine. but i dont many phone tech freaks here. so im sure they wont run out.

They will since VZW just changed the time you get to check out a new phone from 30 days to 14 days so I am sure it will be spaced out. VZW has thought of all this very carefully.

Which makes the 14th seem counterintuitive...I guess we shall see. Here's hoping.

I don't know.... Google has always had a good relationship with Verizon so I couldn't see why Verizon would want to shut them out of any timeframe. The 14th is very doable, it would give Verizon and Apple a full 4 days to fill and take orders. If you want an iphone, you're going to get it or order it by the 14th for the most part.

The iPhone 4 will be on sale for more than 14 days and those who want the iPhone will buy that regardless. For the blinded by apple crowd there is nothing else. Hey to each their own. I will get a TB and be very, very happy.

I'm debating picking this up on a 1 year contract at the store or online. I'd love to get it in store that way I can have it a few days earlier. But will the online price be cheaper?

How does the pre-order work too for VZ phones?

Ordering online will most likely get the phone in your hands earliest. Folks that pre-ordered the Droid Incredible right away got their devices a day or two before launch. They ship em out so they arrive to you 'no later' than launch day, unless of stock issues.

Well if that's the case I see no reason to even get it at the store.

The rumor that Verizon wont release the TB until 14 days after the iphone due to return periods is somewhat of a stretch. Initially, it seems to make sense for Verizon. The problem is that it would only make a difference to release-day iphone buyers. IMO Verizon would wait longer to release the TB if that was their intent, and it def looks like its gonna be the 13th or 14th.

this was from the chat from verizon....take it with a grain of salt. but hopefully it does drop the 14th.

jake: i'm thinking of coming to verizon

Star: Great! I will be more than happy to assist you with starting new service today. How many lines are you looking to have on your account?

jake: 2 smartphones

Star: How many minutes do you need on your plan to share?

jake: i'm thinking 700

Star: Do you need unlimited text?

jake: yes

jake: what phones do you have that are 4G?

Star: We are not currently offering any 4G devices. We have the 700 minute Talk & Text plan with Unlimited data for $159.98 per month, will this work for you?

jake: i see that you have the thunderbolt phone listed. how much on a 2 year contract?

jake: for 2 of them?

Star: At this time we do not have a price available for this device.

jake: ok, i also see that it's not yet available, will it be available in the next 2 weeks? My current contract ends on the 14th.

Star: It will be available on 02.14.2011.

jake: is that for pre order or actual availibilty?

Star: It will not be available for pre order.

jake: ok, so i won't have to worry about the device being on back order?

Star: You probably should not have to worry about that, but I recommend coming online early to purchase. You will then have free overnight shipping.

jake: hows the current 4G data pricing going to be?

jake: for smartphones?

Star: We currently have Unlimited data only for $29.99 per month. I do not have any information pertaining to future data plan changes.

jake: are they going to change when the Thunderbolt is released?

Star: I cannot be sure. I currently do not have any information pertaining to future plan changes.

jake: how does the "sim" card work if i order online? do i have to go "in" store to activate?

Star: You will have instructions for activation included with the device. You will not have to take the device to the local store.

jake: ok, i take it the sim card will be pre installed then?

Star: You will have to install it.

jake: will it come with the device?

Star: Yes it will.

jake: ok, thank you for your time, looks like i'll be going to the nearest verizon store on the 14th!!!!

Star: Great! Thank you for allowing me to assist you with plan pricing information. Feel free to click back on if you have any questions.

Star: Thank you for visiting Verizon Wireless, I look forward to speaking with you again. Have a great evening!

Hey guys! I have been following this forum here for a while now and I know something I have not seen posted here yet so let me share.

Here is the deal with the whole "it cant be the 14th because of the 14 day return on the iphone" this holds no water. the fact is the Iphone is released not the 10th but tomorrow the 3rd (for current Verizon customers)

if the hype is true then the iphone will prob sell out before the 10th. If None VZW customers are looking to get a VzW iphone they will order it and never even go into a store and prob never even look at the Tbolt seeing as VZW's site has an "Iphone" tab septate from the smartphones.

From what i have been hearing around the 24th as a rumored date has been quieted with all the physical and word of mouth evidence pointing to the 14th... at least i REALLLLLY hope so :)

well i got my friend at best buy snooping for info as the head of mobile dept works at his store an usually carries about 7 new phones on him at all time. he is gonna ask him directly about tbolt an release. he knows they did some sort of training on new phones a week or so ago...

People need to get over the 14 day return period. So when iPhone buyers on the 24th forward, they can return it. Some act like the iPhone will block every other phone launch. Maybe BB gets it on the 13th and Verizon stores on the 24th. You can't return a BB sold phone to a Verizon store, it has to go back to BB.

My thinking as well. I am thinking BB and Online at Verizon (and BB perhaps) on the 14th and then VZW stores on the 24th.

It doesn't really make sense that Verizon would let someone else sell their product, especially the first 4G LTE phone ever, before they do. I think Verizon would have it earlier then Best Buy.
