Thunderbolt Pre Announcement Waiting Room & Availability Thread.

Rumors finally over expect tb on 24th!!

Verizon purchase order that shows 18 units of the HTC Thunderbolt arriving on February 23rd with the Verizon rep for that store claiming they?ll start selling them on the 24th. The $569 price is apparently what Verizon pays for the device so don?t worry too much about that figure.

Lots of rumors are claiming the Thunderbolt is delayed past the 24th, but based on this image I?d say February 24th is still looking pretty accurate.

It would seem our trust moderator was correct I would look to the TB being released on the 24th..

most of these are deep into the already very lengthy threads. some news doesnt make the site, but we are devoted to the bolt. just keep an eye out so we dont have 100 of the same info.

What makes you say that? (besides a feeling; we've had enough of those to last us a lifetime in this part of the forum)

look at the evo when sprint announced it they had a huge party for it and released a date for it. and that was americas first 4g phone...now you have the first lte phone in america which is better then wimax. not only that its verizons first LTE phone. and we have 4 full days till the phone is supposedly launch and still no word what so ever. You cant really believe that verizon will do a full advertisement (not just that coming soon lightning commercial) about the phone for only 3 days. Not great marketing what so ever. Like I said i hope im really wrong on this one because im surviving with an lg rumor touch. Even though the phone even seemed full ready at CES when i got hands on with it with smooth ui and no bugs in it you think between CES and now they would be testing it with the network and fixed these so called issues LTE handoff and network issues and they wouldnt be scrambling to get it done. Its just so fishy.

it's also possible, in theory anyway (this isn't realistic) that Verizon is going to downplay the LTE capability of this phone on the "grand scale" and instead market that feature to the specific areas that actually have LTE service available... unlikely, but maybe.

why would you do that when sprint got away with it, az still doesnt have 4g yet people are still paying for it. so i think lte is in more areas then wimax so your already beating sprint.

I wouldnt be pissed if verizon was like march 20th is coming out....ok cool ill wait till march 20th...but the fact that they havent said anything. As a company you think they would set a deadline or schedule on the phone so like certain amount of time to build the phones (htc does that) then test the parts in them. Then test the phone with LTE and all the radios then a few weeks to work out the bugs. It just seems like there is no set schedule i could be totally wrong

Yeah that's me too. If I'm getting pissed, its because we've heard nothing and I need to know what my next move is going to be. If I know the TB isn't coming out until March, that's fine, I'll figure out whether I want the Droid X or to wait until the TB is released and sell my VZW iPhone on ebay. If they would just tell me I could decide. Since I don't know, I don't know what I'm going to do.

I agree with this in principle. The problem I have is that Verizon CHOSE to show the phone off at CES, They CHOSE to flaunt a Q1 release, and then they tweeted on their official Twitter that it could come "Sooner than expected"

First, had they said 2011 and left it at that, none of this wild speculation and hysteria would be happening. Second, if they would "officially" Tweet, Press Release... ANYTHING that it was "Still on schedule for a Q1 launch" or "First/last week of _____" or even a date (Even March __th) we could stop all the hoopla and sit back and wait. They started the madness by opening their mouths, and now they won't say anything to stop it. Instead they let the advertising blitz start and stay mum.

I had a Droid X, and it was riddled with problems at launch. I had a Fascinate, and it's STILL having problems (there's a new one each week!) and I'm quickly souring on this phone, because I don't want to be a "Beta Tester" again. They creating their own problems by saying something, and now those problems are festering because they wont say ANYTHING

Not to play the devil's advocate or anything but neither of these are HTC or LTE phones so I'm kinda missing the point.

If there is a delay due to an issue then they are doing what they can so you aren't a "beta tester" but that doesn't seem to be good enough for you all. They don't owe anyone anything (apologies, excuses, reasons or what have you) because they haven't released an official date to the public ever. It's simply a case that someone at BBY corporate jumped the gun and started pre-orders because they (perhaps) got a scheduled date from VZW. Even if VZW gave them a 2/14 release date VZW didn't announce it to everyone else enough to give BBY the go ahead for pre-orders. When I got my Incredible in April it had already been announced by VZW and so pre-orders began. Now if it hadn't been in stock on the date then I would have had the right to be mad because it was officially announced to the public.

Not saying that VZW is only marketing in 4G areas but Sprint needs the money. Sprint just started getting top selling phones after years of down slope so they will sell the EVO to whoever wants it whether they have 4G in the area or not.

AZ does have LTE. Check the VZ site. I know Phoenix has it.
