"unfortunately contacts has stopped working" -- grrr

The Contacts issue hasn't happened to me in awhile. (Knocks on wood) The Google Play Services issue is happening several times a day and it's getting annoying.

I'm having a whole list of "unexpectedly stop working" msgs. I have a replacement end route. It gradually became worse as the days went by. The next thing I knew, my Note 4 is restarting randomly. What a pain in the *** reconfiguring a new ph.

I jinxed myself. The Contacts error message has returned. :-(

Damn, this isn't sounding good. I've been getting more and more "unfortunately blah blah has stopped working" messages and they're becoming more frequent. I definitely don't want to go through the new phone route.

I have the same issue. I have been ignoring it for some time. Had a minute and thought I would see if I was the only one. Nope. Samsung Galaxy S5, Updated 3/5/15 to G900VVRU1BOA8. I just checked and I needed a system update again...did it...G900VVRU1BOC4....let's see if that fixes it.

I don't have a samsung, however, disabling Google+ on both my Razr HD and Elipsis 8 tablet has stopped the contacts app from crashing.

I get this error on occasion. I haven't disabled Google+ but I have made sure not to have "keep contacts updated" selected in it's settings. Clearing data in "contacts storage" seems to stop the error when it occurs, with the downside of having to go back into the contacts app to adjust my settings. I don't think it's Google+. I think it might be related to having contacts sync with Google. I have that setting disabled because, it seems to cause battery drain. But I do turn it on once every couple of weeks to make sure my contacts are up to date, and I feel like that's when the issue occurs for me.

Just updated to lollipop today, and did a factory reset. So far no problems.. so hopefully the update or the reset fixed it

I tried the other options on here but they didn't work. I did manage to fix it, or so it seems by going to Settings>apps>contacts>clear defaults>disable this didn't affect my ability to use my contacts though because my phone also has an app called zte_contacts. So far so good, my phone was doing this on every call and now nothing. :)

Either lollipop or the factory reset seemed to fix mine, maybe google updated that app and it has a problem with non lollipop ui now. I have no idea, but mine is fine now and i didnt have.to disable the app

I've had the same issue on a Galaxy S5 when I open from the lock screen or come out of an app it will say the contacts have stopped working. After updating to lollipop I don't see that error but I have noticed that my native email app doesn't download email unless I manually press he sync button.

Looking through different menus I have found a settin that says sync is disabled for all my email accounts.

Thoughts?

Set sync to yes. It will correct not receiving email

Is everyone who replied in this thread rooted?

This is my first reply, but mine is not rooted. I've been getting the same message for two months now on my Samsung S5 (TMobile). I've been reading on this thread, and have already tried the fixes mentioned within this thread. Still getting the errors non stop throughout the day, totally unrelated to making telephone calls.

Same here. I've been getting the irritating pop up, but my contacts still worked. Now they don't work, I can't call out, see who's calls I've missed, etc. I've restarted my phone several times to no avail. HELP!!!
