"unfortunately contacts has stopped working" -- grrr

I still have the problem despite all the cache clearing (phone and contacts). It's really pronounced in my Nine application. When I try and add an email recipient in a new email or reply, my phone contacts pops up and freezes the app. I have to close Nine to get out of it. In Gmail app or phone email app, there are no problems.

Go into settings click applications goto all not SD card running or downloaded it's all the way right scroll down to contacts and unchecked show notifications I was getting the message every time I touched the phone hasn't done it in a while I'm using a note 4

OK, I'll give this a try. Nothing else has worked so far. Why do you need notifications in Contacts anyway?

My phone is still doing this and I've tried everything.
Is everyone's phone still doing this or not?

What's the fix?

Mine did it like everyone else on this thread,
I cleared cache and memory, find contacts in application manager then force to stop it.
Green phone icon disappeared as well.
Restart, then went back and force to start.
Don't have issue any more.
Hope this helps.

Mine is still doing it with the Contacts and Google Play Services.

Turn off and uninstall Google+ update. Google+ has bug when it comes to the contact app. By doing this will resolve that issue

I need Google+ installed, unfortunately. Any ideas about the Google Play Services issue?

There was a Google+ update yesterday and it still has this problem.
Even when I turned off and uninstalled Google+ the problem did not go away. :(

I noticed the Google+ was updated in the play store and so I reactivated and updated.
The very moment it all finished I got that damn message "contacts has stopped".
Disabled again 😡

well after downloading updates this morning mine now crashes everytime I open up the dialer. I've tried clearing cache and that didnt work. I dont have google + installed on my phone so thats not it. It really sucks not being able to use the primary function of your phone.

edit; Well I went in and deleted every update I downloaded this morning and problem still persists. Not really sure what to do at this point.

I did a factory reset as well and no dice. Unless I wasn't supposed to sign into Google+ or something.

Ok so I found a temporary solution. Its not perfect but I'm able to make calls and access my contact list. I downloaded the truecaller app off the app store and use it. Like I said its working fine so far (knock on wood)

I just tried this and so far so good. Mess with it until you get the contact list. Tap the three dots. There are on the bottom right on my Moto droid razr M. Tap "contacts to display" and select "All contacts". This seems to be working for me and I have been having this problem for a long time until I did this. I hope this helps.

I had this problem as well. Lolike some others diasbling Google+ seems to have done the trick. No problems in a week and a half.
