just an FYI to others out there who may have had the same issues - the EB16 kernel (me voodoo version) appears to have resolved two problems i've been experiencing (and troubleshooting to no avail):

(1) ADW EX has been lagging big-time whenever it reloads after the FASN8 awoke from sleep, or transitioning from app drawer to home screen, etc; and

(2) Beautiful Widgets was flat out not working - i continuously got this error message: "Please remove and re-add this widget for the upgrade, thank you! (Long press on me, drag to the trash)" - it seemed the latest BW update did not play nice with the previous SC embedded kernel i was using. When I re-add the widget I get the changelog and have to redo my settings; its as if i just installed it.

i tried numerous troubleshooting techniques (reinstalling, wiping cache, option tweaks, etc.) but no worky. I was hoping a new kernel would save the day and it has: ADW EX is silky smooth and happy now, as is Beautiful Widgets.

So, broken record, thanks again to Adrynalyne/jt/etc, this kernel is getting along real nice with Super Franken-shteen Clean 2.9.1. and it's app childrens.

:DHappy:DHappy:DJoy:DJoy:D!

****UPDATED 3/18: I stand, errr sit, corrected: the issues have returned,:-! albeit at a much less frequent rate. I have a lot more playing/troubleshooting to do to figure out what's driving this. As of now I suspect memory management issues - the symptoms make sense. Adrynalyne listed a tweak to lowmemkiller which might explain the improvement. What the hell do I know? Trial and error, trial and error, ad infinitum.

****UPDATED 3/23: OK, it appears the 2 problems above have all but disappeared...almost.

ADW EX prob: I noticed, to my chagrin, that i still had old ADW installed as well as Launcher Pro. I was using Home Switcher and switching back and forth between launchers to see what i liked better. I decided to uninstall ADW (old) and Launcher Pro and that seemed to have fixed the ADW EX lag big time. I'm guessing it was remnants of the old ADW that were still getting loaded into memory that was stepping on the toes of ADW EX and making it lag.

The slow to load issue now only happens upon a reboot, which is totally acceptable.

BW prob: This problem has also virtually disappeared. I now only get the widget problem upon rebooting. And again like always, i get the changelog and have to redo my settings as if i just installed the app.

It seems quite possible the uninstalling of extra launchers i described above could have helped with the BW problem. But I also updated the kernel to EC10 as well.

Anyway, lesson learned: having mulitple versions of launchers installed simultaneously is probably not a good idea. :):p:)

Had the same trouble with ADW free, I was only getting BW problems when I restored adw via titanium backup, and it was tanking all of my widgets.

Before the eb16 kernel, the time on my phone started to lag for 3 mins then 5 then 15 mins. This was set to auto in settings. Then I set it to manual it started losing time but slower.
Then I load the kernel and bam it spot on again. Only change I made so guaranteed its the new kernel...yes another miracle by our super dev

i have EB01 and have some force closes in LPP, should i update to EB16? i am unrooted and stock, for now...

You should probably try the typical first level type troubleshooting methods first, like rebooting, clearing cache, fix permissions, reinstalling etc. to see if that resolves your FC issues.

i have EA28 and am looking to flash Superclean 2.9. should i expect any problems using LPP and BW?

I can only speak for my experience with ADW EX and BW - but as I posted it seems to have improved with the EB16 kernel - I still have the issue though, just not as much.

Haven't really seen any chatter about issues with LPP.

All that said, the issues are a small annoyance, not a show stopper.

Whenever I am considering flashing a ROM, I ask myself: "Self, are you happy with your current build and does the build you are considering offer enough incrementally to justify flashing it?"

Or, as many do, you could just have your own policy of always flashing the latest stuff, which I kinda lean towards - mostly. :)

No guts no glory! :)

I was having problems with BW force closing as well, but what I got to work was doing a backup with TB, completely wiping my phone, and then installing 2.9 (I use voodoo) from scratch. When my phone came back, I just dowloaded BW again from the market and did NOT replace my backup of this program (it is easy enough to redo 1 program). For some reason, I now have no problems with this AT ALL. I am on the EB01 kernel and now I have no BW force close problems. I have been on 2.9 since it came out and this is how I got mine to work. Not 100% sure why, but this worked for me. I currently do not use ADW because I am happy with my phone right now but this may be an option that helps as well. Let me know if you do this and it helps.
