Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

FWIW, I really hope this phone isn't a Verizon exclusive. While I am a Verizon customer, grandfathered in with unlimited data for as long as Verizon decides to allow it, I want this phone to be available for everyone, on as many carriers as possible.

More Nexi in the hands of more people should mean more and better development, cheaper, more plentiful peripherals, and more abundant used handsets on Craigslist in 3-6 months when the next big thing comes out. Then, if I drop or lose mine, I can replace it for less than $6 bills.

Will this phone have Gorilla Glass and a removable SD card? KIDDING!:)

My question for you is this...in the case of the rumors of the GSII being a Verizon exclusive, you allude to the same happening with the Nexus now. This is a serious question since I'm pretty new to following VZW, but with the GSII did they ever have a sign up page for it on their official website? Did they send out multiple tweets a day saying "Hey, sign up for info regarding our upcoming Galaxy S II?"

My guess is that the rumors about VZW getting the SGSII exclusively was correct, except that the people starting the rumor didn't realize that the SGSII was actually a Galaxy Nexus...and it's only exclusive for a few weeks or so here in the U.S.

Just bought a Micro-USB to HDMI MHL cable and a USB host OTG adapter off eBay in anticipation of getting the GN.

Who needs a ton of internal storage when you can hook up to unlimited external storage options?

This should make for a nice way to watch lots of HD movies when traveling.

You don't even have to be a long-time Verizon customer to have Deja Vu on this. Tell me if this sounds familiar from August.
SGS2 is rumored to be a Verizon exclusive
Other carriers see it pass FCC
Then it's no longer rumored to be a Verizon exclusive
Then it gets announced it will be released in Europe first

The difference with that is that Verizon has actually acknowledged the existence of the Nexus. They gave a press release, sign-up page, and they are also tweeting about it still.

SGS2 on Verizon wasn't even acknowledged...it was all pure speculation by the blogosphere and android fans.

Um think I am going to try my damndest to quit checking these forums so much and just enjoy my Bionic till it comes whenever it comes.

All this back and forth is too frustrating and building me up to probably be dissappointed in the phone cause its sure to have bugs and issues( that I know will get worked out but still). This will be eaiser said then done lol

no! You shall browse the forums and experience the pain like everyone else!!!

I'm impatiently waiting for the Verizon release date. Not sure how much longer I can handle using my OG Droid.

I don't think this is worthy of a new thread so I will post here. At what point will we start seeing accessories like car docks and charging docks go on sale? Before, during or after launch?

I've gotten so tired of buying new car docks with every new phone, and then most wont even work if you put a case or extended battery on the device...frustrating. A couple of phones ago, I bought a RocketFish universal car dock from Best Buy for $25 and it has fit every phone since, case or no case.

So, I decided to log onto my AT&T account today just to see if they added the new GS2 Skyrocket, and they are allowing me to upgrade early today!!! I have to admit, this made me excited. I have not had a fully functional phone in almost a year now. And the GNex is not due until after Thanksgiving it seems. Hmmm. I don't think I can wait much longer. That, and ICS will be on the other devices only a month or two later than that release date anyway. Better specs with the same amazing software....hmmm.

(But the GNex keeps winking at me with those big beautiful 4.65" HD eyes) :-*

I'd wager you are going to be disappointed if you expect ICS one to two months after the Nexus is released.

Yeah, I know. But I can't stop going to the Samsung kiosk at the mall and manhandling the GS2 display every other day. I'm in love with it....:-*

Darn it all to heck, Verizon.

As someone who currently has the Samsung Vibrant, a device that was released a month after Froyo, which was promised by Samsung/T-Mobile to be updated to Froyo shortly after release but didn't get it until 7 months after just because of the XDA community spamming Samsung's twitter, a device that saw its big brother (Galaxy S i9000) get Gingerbread many months ago, but still doesn't (and likely will never) have it, I would be VERY wary of the US carriers getting you ICS in a reasonable amount of time.

This is the reason why my next device will be the Nexus. If you can tough it out, just wait. You will thank yourself later.

It seems like every time I check this board for updates on a possible release date, the date is a week further out. I seriously think we could all manage to wait until mid-December if we actually knew the date. Very frustrating being in the dark here.

Oh well. Such is life in the tech world. I just hope to see this phone in early December at the latest. Any later and people are going to be disappointed in their gifts from me this holiday season.

Other Nexus devices, but not much else. Hell, the Tbolt just got GB. If I was a Tbolt owner I wouldn't expect to see ICS until a week before JellyBean is released, if ever.

Updates should come from the people who make the OS, not from the carriers. That was one thing Apple got right. If the manufacturers want to make a skin for it, that's fine. If the carriers want to give free apps away for it, that's good too. But they should be offered to the subscriber after the OS is updated, not put on before and released with an OS update. That's just not working out very well.
