Verizon raising the price for Unlimited Data Plan by $20 after November 15, 2015

Nice. They basically told me tough darts. I've called several times trying to keep udp and get some kind of deal on Note 5 but no luck. I would consider a 12 gb plan but we did the math and I don't save any money so why give up the data?

A vzw phone rep said I could get 100 off if I buy note 5 on 2 year payment plan but I am pretty sure he is wrong since I have only 1 year left of udp and they are not extending udp so how could I be locked in a 24 month payment plan? I prefer to pay up front anyway. I believe the payment plan will force me to pay a sales tax since my home state has one. If I pay up front in a nearby state without sales tax I don't pay it. The sales tax would eat half of the 100 savings. I'd rather just pay full price unless I could get 2 or 3 hundred off.

If you're rate is going up, the notice is at the very end of your bill (printed or pdf online) for bills arriving Oct 15 or after. If your last bill cycle closed on or before Oct 14, the notice will be on your next bill.
I did check my bill and it closed on the 12th so it wasn't on there. I'll get hit next month then.

Should give us all something since we've been paying the phone subsidies for years and haven't been able to use them for the last couple years.

They always thank me for being a longtime customer....but that and $2.50 will buy me a cup of coffee. A couple of phone reps spent over 30 min each trying to find a deal for me but always comes down to losing udp and even if willing is complicated by my wife's 2 year nw contract on which she received a price subsidized iphone 6. Apparently, if I switch to a new plan she must come with me which means she must pay full price for her iphone. My tolerance level for that sort of phone call is 30 min max at which point I just say I have to go and hang up.

Not really sure....as soon as they bring up the issue I tell them forget it then. I do not think it is etf. I think she just has to go on a payment plan but I don't know how that would work since she already paid $400 for it. I tend to shy away from any complicated transactions with VZW. I have been burned in the past when a rep (a manager yet) gave me bad info. I had her name. She noted info in my account. They still made me pay and said the contract overrules anything I may he told by one of their reps. I tried to elevate the case. I tried to get them to allow me to speak with the rep in question. They simply said that was impossible.

Today, I tried calling Verizon Wireless to convert my personal account which I've had since January 5, 1996 under GTE MobilNet to a Business Personal/Small Business Account so it would use my Tax ID Number instead of my Social Security Number, I was transferred to the Assumption of Liability department who told me that since I have the UDP, she would hate for me to lose it so she said she can process the application for a small business account and the risk is high of losing it as there is a 60% success rate of sending it a request to add it back and a 40% failure rate depending on the IT Department. She basically got the small business account approved, credit check with no deposit needed for up to 20 lines but the computer kept doing Invalid Plan selected so she tried to change me to a $20 Unlimited Voice + $20 Unlimited Text plan and even tried just $20 Unlimited Voice but it keeps taking out the UDP. She even had a supervisor assist to see if there are any loopholes to keep the UDP but none of it worked.

After the call, I looked at this thread about adding the 100 Minutes & 100 Text Promo and this was what happened.

Kat: Good evening! My name is Kat, I am your account specialist. How may I help you?
Me: Hello Kat, how are you doing.
Me: I heard about a 100 free minutes and text loyalty promo
Kat: Oh! Thank you for your interest with our promos. I know how important it is to be able to apply all the applicable promos and offers there are. I would be glad to check available options for you in which we can apply the 100 free minutes and texts to your account. Let me go ahead and pull up your account.
Kat: Can I have your name and phone number on the account please?
Me: <Name and Phone Number provided>
Kat: Thank you for the information.
Kat: I will pull up the account now.
Kat: I see the available promo. Would you like me to apply the changes on the account now?
Me: yes, am I correct it would put me in contract for 1 year?
Kat: Yes, that is correct. I see that you have the Unlimited data on the line. Starting November 15, 2015, there will be an additional $20.00 for maintaining the unlimited data. It will take effect once your contract term has ended. If we add the promotions now on your line, it will add 1 year to your contract.
Me: Yes, that sounds good. Is there any promotions on voice & text plans without losing the Unlimited data?
Kat: Great idea! I will place the effectivity on the next bill cycle which is on November 05, 2015. This way, you will start having the 100 minutes and 100 texts on the same day as well have the unlimited data for a year without getting charged with $20.00 for the additional monthly cost.
Me: That sounds good.
Kat: Awesome!I hope I was able to take ownership and provide you good customer service today. Is there anything else that I missed? Would you like to know more about your account?
Kat: I have successfully added the promotions on your line! Congratulations!
Me: Well, are there voice plans with a better pricing than I am getting now?
Me: I talked earlier with someone and they said there was a $20.00 voice plan with unlimited minutes except I didn't know what the line access charge is.
Kat: Changing the plan will remove the unlimited data from your account. Would you like to consider changing the plan without unlimited data?
Me: Perhaps not, I want to keep the UDP :)
Kat: That's a great choice!
Kat: I definitely recommend that as well!
Me: In any case, thanks again for your help!
Kat: All for you! Thank you for being a loyal customer of Verizon since 1996! You are very much appreciated and valued by Verizon. We are doing our best to provide you the best option there is. We treat our customers as our family.
Kat: You may log on to our website Cell Phones, Smartphones & the Largest 4G LTE Network - Verizon Wireless and follow our Twitter account @vzwsupport.
Kat: This is Kat, your account specialist. Have a great day ahead!

So seems like one can't change the voice plan without losing the UDP.

Why would they give something to unlimited users when they want you off that? They don't want to entice you to stay on that plan.

That's not what I'm saying. If fact just the opposite, give you something to entice you OFF unlimited.

Good point. What good are alternate plans that cost as much or more?

The best that they will give you is the Verizon max 6gb/30 or 8gb/40 /w mhs

So with the $40 plan shown is it just 40 plus tax or 40 plus line fee plus vzw extra added fee plus more money with some excuse adding up to 60 70 80?
The $30/40 fee is just the data feature. It would basically replace the $29.99 (soon to be $49.99) unlimited data plan fee.

A mandatory voice plan (lowest being the legacy loyalty $15 for consumer lines) is required. Texts are additional,if desired.

You know if that were 12 GB I might go for it to get the hotspot feature. 8gb is a little light .....but my wife has 2 gb so that 8 is all for me right?

I was enticed off unlimited by the max(6GB)plan and a new subsidized phone. This was a couple years ago. Then was enticed again by the new plans and cheaper rates. Saved $35/mo by going to a 3 GB plan and UL voice and text. Enticements are relative to the eye of the beholder IMO. Seemed a great deal and an opportunity to lower my bill by 1/3. Since getting home internet the 3GB is twice as much as I use in a month. Love the $65/ month bill and getting a subsidized phone again next month if I decide to. My S6 is still doing great so probably hang onto that new phone subsidy for awhile. Obviously some need more data in a month. Depends on need as to whether an enticement works for you. Verizon Rocks IMHO.

Oh they do. They offer an exclusive "Max" plan to subscribers... but to anyone who uses a good amount of data an unlimited plan will always be less expensive than a non-unlimited one.

What about the plan dpham00 mentioned $40 for 8 gb plus free hotspot. 11 more than my udp but included hotspot and i think subsidized phone?
