I know as soon as we get Gingerbread, there will be rumors of Ice Cream Sandwich coming. So maybe Samsung & AT&T will catch up in a year. I have spent hours in forums and online customer service and still no luck upgrading. HOWEVER today the KiesMini "unregistered device" error finally went away. The upgrade is still greyed out, but could it finally be coming soon?

There's a rumor (based on Wikipedia) that Samsung will have the Gingerbread update issue resolved by Friday (which is tomorrow). If that rumor is true, the Kies Mini may start showing the option for upgrade tomorrow. But then, there's another rumor (based on what someone heard from Samsung customer service via phone) that AT&T is deciding to push it over the air (OTA)... which, I have a hard time believing (if that was true, why would they have made Kies Mini available for the Infuse just a few weeks ago).

Regardless, one thing is absolutely for sure. Gingerbread is coming. The fact that the fiasco last week even happened is proof that Gingerbread is on their checklist for the Infuse.

Now, Ice Cream Sandwich... Haha, nah. Slim chance. As in, reaaaaaaaaally slim chance. Ice Cream Sandwich is designed to run for the buffer phones with at least 1 GB RAM and etc. The Infuse's specs (single core, small RAM) will either make Ice Cream Sandwich not be possible to run, or even if in the slim chance they do decide to put it on it, will most likely run like an awful mess.

Yeah we shall see. Some people saying over the air will not work if you did the maintainence upgrade. That would make sense with the MiniKies almost working. One thing for sure is they need to train their tech support. I was told 4 different things from 4 techs. Wish I knew more about rooting and Odin and flashing and I would have tried some of the forum suggestions.

OTA will probably fix the problems with the first release. The official GB was way too big to get it safely downloaded OTA.

As far as I know mimimum ram required for ICS update is 769 mb. Infuse ram is 512 mb so I highly doubt that ICS will come. Unless Samsung made some kind of value pack for ICS, I do not think it's coming.

There is still a very small chance, like 0.1%. Nexus S is able to upgrade to ICS value pack from Google. Nexus S has similar spec with Infuse 4g.

I have been running 2.3.6 for about a week. I used GTG unbrick to bring back to stock. But 2.3.6 is super buggy and a lot of commands and settings, such as with swype don't respond

I used Kies, but this build of GB is crap. Samdung and ATT claimed is was "fully tested" and should work. But it didn't and once again its the customers who are left hold a bag of Dung from ATT again! They care more about the Icrap than anything else.

ATT & Samdung better get on the ball. GB came out over a year ago and we are just now getting? WTF Samdung

And yet that was not a problem for Sprint. GB was updated OTA for Sprint users.

Yea that Gb was useless. I was frustrated with my touchscreen, I was unable to send long texts. It was awful
