Where's Froyo for the Fascinate?

having a lot of updates come out isn't necessarily a good thing. seems like they need to keep fixing things on the DroidX to make it work properly.

at the same time, not having any updates isn't good either since there are clearly things wrong with the fascinate like the gps, but no fix has come out yet for it. overall tho, even in it's current state, I feel that the fascinate is a great phone and I love it.

That's good to hear. Other than the known GPS issue, my other concern was the call quality and signal strength and so far (from some of the replies), it doesn't appear to be an issue.

Froyo is a lie. Always has been, always will be. I no longer care about Froyo because launcherpro gives me everything I want in a phone. And the google apk file that replaces Bing. It is now the phone of my dreams. Samsung can kma. For reals. Only thing that's good about Froyo is the GPS fix... if it even does that..

DJ05 fixed the gps problem altogether. So that should be true for froyo as well.

Yes, Galaxy S in Europe and the rest of the world but in the US, I will believe it when I see the official announcements from the carriers.

exactly... I just want froyo first! one upgrade at a time folks! ;)

People don't seem to understand that when the Galaxy S is mentioned, it has nothing to do with the Fascinate, or any other US variant.

Well, I can understand why it can be a little confusing. They're all apart of the Galaxy S line, and couple that with the fact that many of the overseas variants of the Galaxy S are simply called the Galaxy S...I can see why people would get them mixed up.

My Fascinate sure says "Galaxy S" on the back of it. :)

That said, if that article refers to the Samsung India tweets, they've been deleted. Queue angry mob...

the article even mentions the fascinate by name...

I'm skeptical on that particular site's news reporting ability considering they didn't even provide a link to the twitter feed. I don't see anything from Samsung US that confirms or denies Gingerbread, so I suspect they're going off Samsung India's tweets, which have been removed.

Samsung Galaxy S Android Gingerbread Confirmed, Nexus S Who?

So I take this as good news. "When" is a DIFFERENT story. Hard to imagine Galaxy S phones won't get Gingerbread since there seems to be not that much difference between them and the Nexus S.

Ok, it is NOT confirmed for us. From Samsung's official US Galaxy S Twitter as of less than an hour ago:
no official statement about updating US Galaxy S line to 2.3 has been made & we aren't prepared to discuss this at this time.
Twitter

It'll likely happen, but we're still waiting the official word.

*sigh* so they were talking about the gsm fascinate? note to self: for next android phone get one that will actually get updates!

They were talking about the I9000, the Galaxy S. It's likely the author of the article has no idea what he its taking about.

I can't wait for December 22, my other line comes up and I will get a phone that has Mfg support. My constant FC's and having to do battery pulls because of this stupid ass BW are about to drive me insane. Rooted, debloated and deBinged and still not that great of a phone. Can't watch flash content or put apps on Sd card. WTF VZW?

Edit: oh yeah, the clincher, the worlds most F'd up GPS reception ever put on a phone....but yeah the screen looks good huh? WTFever

Maybe you just got a bad phone? Because I would bet the majority of users on here have either fixed all of those issues, or haven't experienced them at all.

Agreed. Sounds like you have an unstable kernel causing FCs like that. DJ05 has fixed GPS. I'm not crying about flash. Even if I could put apps on my SD card I wouldn't. I'm already using too much of it with media.
