Yeah, some of us still have hope for the upgrade. I don't even want to think how long Gingerbread would take.

No, go to Settings --> About --> System updates. Make sure wi-fi it turned off before checking.

No, everything will stay the same. You'll just have an updated OS with some new/fixed features.

Do we un-root or leave the phone rooted when 2.2 is installing?

Shouldn't need to un-root, but you will lose root.

Same here, WIfi tether is one the biggest factor in me deciding to root. But hopefully froyo would be worth it.

No guys, I don't think this will be a let down. I believe this is truly the update, and we will all be happy! The only ones who won't be happy are the ones who have made Froyo out to be something that it is not.

Doubt it. For most of us it's the GPS fix. We all know there are not a whole lot of difference compared to what we have now, except that our phones will work. We all would have been happy with just a maintenance release.

Some of us are looking forward to running app that developers created for 2.2 or higher.

Me, I'm just hoping that my capacitive buttons stay on until the screen times out. If not, I'll be happy with my working GPS.

I have been calling and asking a lot from Verizon and have always gotten the same answer....."There is not any information about any upgrade for the Fascinate", so when I got pretty much identical answers from two separate employees I am a believer. I am up around 4:30 EST in the morning and will be looking for the upgrade. Again once anyone gets the upgrade please post here...

To confirm how about someone here call *611 and ask the same question...

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I believe that this is just another example of the famous Peanuts cartoon characters Charlie Brown and Lucy playing football (the football representing Froyo). Lucy (played by Samsung/Verizon) is holding the football and beckoning Charlie (played by all of us) to run up and kick it. Of course just as he runs up and attempts the kick Lucy jerks the ball away and poor Charlie is sent crashing to the ground again.

I somehow think Samsung/Verizon get a sick thrill out of watching how we can be as gullible as Charlie Brown.
