Wired tether, which ROM will have it first?

2.2 on the Hero the wired tether worked great. Noticeably faster than market wired applications, pdanet/easytether.

I am hoping wired tether comes to TR soon, and look forward to trying nROM when wired tether support arrives.

Wireless hotspot is built into the ROM and can be a lifesaver, but drains the battery fast. Charging the battery does not keep up with the power requirements.

Taking bets on whether TR or nRom will have wired tether first. ;-)

any?

1) get msl from sprint
2) ##2342#
3) Data Settings
4) Extend Modem
5) Set to no
6) Create dialup connection on pc

repeat after every reboot since it doesnt save ;(

Tried this on my phone and a hero, both with custom ROMs. No successes with either phone.

##2342# does not lead to the third step. Nothing happens at step 2, no menu, ##2342# stares back at me.

I don't have my MSL so I don't recall how to get there exactly but there is a menu. Perhaps Nick7 could chime in?

Not connected to a pc to test fully right now but the menu zefie is talking about can be accessed without the msl (but requires launcherpro our adw) following nick7's hidden menu tip:

From the hidden menu, choose data settings - dun nai - and choose no in the extend modem popup menu.

Again, haven't tested the tether but thought I'd post the menu access since I had seen it earlier. Zefie, you should be able to test out now, without the msl.

Ok, so once you have the settings on the phone set, you say you need to create a dialup connection from the PC? Are you saying that this way will use the phone minutes as the internet connection? And will you need to already have a dialup ISP service to call/connect to?
