Tried to return at a Best Buy and was told I need to return at the Best Buy i bought it from because the department codes were different. Sounds totally bogus but I was on my lunch break and didn't have time to argue. Will try again after work.

I just spoke to the manager of a local BB and pretty much same old stuff. They are waiting for devices to replace current ones and the way to know they have devices to replacement is to enter your email. Even the 9/30 date is not confirmed. The Samsung rep there concurred.

Guess at this point a lot of posts are like script lines from Seinfeld (a lot about nothing).

I have no interest in temp loaner. I will keep mine until the replacements come in. I went to bestbuy store this morning as soon as they opened. I went to mobile department. THe kid knew absolutely nothing about any policy. He turns to a young lady behind him and asks her. With a tone that seemed more like I do not even need to know what you are talking about you are wrong she tells us both that I am wrong. She also said I am passed my 14 days for a return. Meanwhile the kid starts looking on the computer and he finds the info I told them was there. He says WOW! I did not know that and shakes my hand . He told me thank you this will be very helpful. Young lady standing right there says nothing. I asked her what will happen to my screen protector you guys put on when I got the phone. She said deal with Samsung. . Anyways young man was VERY fast finding the info .He asked my my tel# and promptly printed out my pre order withing 5 minutes of me arriving there. For the hell of it I walked over to the in store Samsung specialist at her own booth. I asked her about what is going on with the note 7. She looked down from her phone just long enough to tell me "I don't know, call Samsung". When I was younger I would have had an issue with that and made it known. I am older now and let that pass.

I would only defend some of them as some are as you say. It mainly really that either information wasn't provided to them and they not seeking out information, the information they have are only the same sources everyone else have, they unable to speak of it until something officially release, orrr..... they the ones that only do the bare min of the job scope and those always the clueless ones"enough not to get fired".

Exchange dates in UK Sept. 19th, Australia is Sept. 21st. Saw one report US date might be Sept. 19th.

Sources: Fortune & Bloomberg

Hey there, I wish the above is true
However I just came across the following and not sure if I should interpret that as a massive delay or a fast paced approval:
U.S. consumer-safety officials continued to sift through a range of issues related to the phone’s problems on Wednesday. They hoped to move quickly to issue an official recall in cooperation with Samsung, but such announcements typically include a planned fix for the faulty product.

“CPSC is taking seriously its obligation to independently look into the safety of any replacement product that the company seeks to provide to consumers,” a CPSC official said this week. “We are working as hard we can and as fast as we can.”

Samsung said it continues to work with the U.S. agency and its carrier partners. “No action will be taken without the approval of the CPSC,” the phone maker said.

In addition 2 best buy location near me did confirm that samsung shipped the new notes.

BEST BUY IS NOW GiVING LOANERS.

If anyone has problems getting a loaner from best buy (S7E and alike) hit up their forum, let Allan know manager name and store and he will contact the store to make sure you get your loaner. I called my store and they seem to be on the same page now.

Here is the forum you need if your store acts clueless or refuses you a loaner. Interesting read as well.

For those having issue getting on the pre order replacement agreement, I am sure Allen at that site can set stores straight on that as well.

Catch is gotta return the Note 7 to get it. Waiting so can do Smartswitch and avoid 1.5 days of downloads and setup. Note 7 FTW.

Samsung Plans Software Update to Cut Galaxy Note 7 Fire Risk - WSJ (sorry the link isn't showing up but below is from WSJ)

There's a flaw in your plan. Best Buy will not let you use smart switch. They will ask you to turn off your phone before it is returned.

This is no different from going from another phone. Local Samsung rep and the mobile manager (that I know) confirmed customers can do this and they are expecting enough people wanting this to have to schedule customers. Smartswitch will be much cleaner and stable going from the same device.

Catch is have to have a device to exchange. CPSC is not known for expediency and Samsung does not seem to be helping much with information to retail partners.
