[7.14.11][ROM] Das BAMF Sense 3.0 RC4.9

What is the consensus on overclocking with this ROM. I've been rooting and using Das BMF since I got my bolt but I have never tried to overclock. Do I need something like SetCPU? I have the extended battery since I couldn't get through a day without it so I'm not terribly worried about battery life.

By the way these ROMS are amazing.

I've been using the integrated smartass governor at 245/1GHz since RC2 and haven't had any problems. I initially used SetCPU but my battery life was tanking even with profiles and the native cpu governor disabled as suggested. And I see no real reason to OC the rom. Everything is fast and smooth for me.

So far I'm enjoying this rom, but I have one major issue that I can't seem to solve. How do you disable unlock/wake via the volume keys? I've been trying to register at Team BAMF forums, but the keycaptcha doesn't seem to be taking, even though I've lined up the photo perfectly. Any help would be great on this. Thanks!

I looked around for a simple option that would allow me to disable wake on volume too, but couldn't find it. There is, however, a mod that you can do that is fairly simple and will prevent the volume keys from waking the phone. You will need a file explorer program that can give you root access, and will need to enable read/write permissions on your system files. I'm using ES File Explorer from the market (the free version, you'll have to enable root explorer in the settings of the program--menu>settings>Root options (NEW)--check Root Explorer and Mount File System)

Once you have this program on your phone, navigate to your local storage (not SD card) then to System>usr>keylayout>mecha-keypad.kl Open this file. In ES File Explorer when you click on it, you'll get an option of how to open it. Open it as a text file, then open it with ES Note Editor. You'll have a list of items, focus on "key 115" and "key 114" They should read, "key 115 VOLUME_UP WAKE" and "key 114 VOLUME_DOWN WAKE". Delete the word "WAKE" from each of these lines, but leave everything else the same. Save the file and reboot. Now you should find that when your phone is locked, the volume keys do not wake the screen, only the power button does. Hope that helps! It worked for me!

ding ding ding. This is why Adrynalyne and company usually recommend wipes since things can go wonky. Example: Somewhere in between RC 4, RC5pre and RC4.9, my Super User got borked and decided it just didn't like certain apps (shootme was the main one). Even after granting it root access, the app still told me I wasn't rooted. Clearing Super User data in Manage Applications seems to have fixed that issue but sometimes it's not always that easy. Some will say, "but I don't wanna wipe". Fine but don't expect the developers or others to help you when you already can't follow directions. My suggestion is invest in some sort of backup tool like MyBackup Pro or Titanium Backup. I'm partial to the former but either should pay for itself the first time you have to restore from a factory reset/data wipe.

I ALWAYS wipe everything. PS fix permissions took care of shootme superuser issues for me. I'm down to a 20 min reset after a full wipe. I have read that some just wipe davlik when going from rom ABC 1.0 to ABC 2.0 it didn't work for me whatsoever tho. I'm convinced when something goes wrong and isn't resolved over repeated attempts to fix the hard code is corrupt and needs a spanking lol!

Thanks! I'll try this out when I'm on my dinner break!

Ok, I took this for a spin but the Market did not work. Nor did the web version.

Sync kept saying was unavailable.

I was unable to boot into recovery to restore my backup - so I needed to Google search Rom Manager.

Then, I was able to restore.

i've just wiped cache and dalvik 3 times each when going from RC3 to RC4 and then to RC5pre with no issues though i fully understood things may not work the best that way and was fully ready to just flash again with a full wipe if anything went funky but it worked flawlessly though i plan on doing a full wipe on this i've been lucky so far no need to push my luck lol, i've been noticing past few days my battery life wasn't so hot on RC5pre maybe its was the different kernal used on that, granted i coulda just flashed a new kernal to test that theory but i'm assuming there were other issues and tweaks needed to be made and that's the cause for this odd RC4.9 release

The volume wake fix was a success! But now on to something completely different...

My notification sounds, especially for gmail and sms/mms seem to change after setting them to what I want. I have an mp3 that I've put in a folder on my SD card (media/notification) that I'd like to use. When I select them they play normally, but when I get a text or email it plays the default sound. After going back to double-check that I've picked the one I've wanted, it still shows it as the one I had selected earlier. Anyone else have this problem?

Side note: Has anyone been able to register at BAMF's forums? It keeps saying that the captcha image isn't correct, even though I've gone through it a few times.

Thanks!

Has anyone had an issue with Sense needing to load every time you exit an app? Every time I exit an app and try to return to the home screen I get the white HTC screen and then I have to wait for Sense to load again. It did this on RC4 as well but not as much.

I actually had that problem on my stock TB. I had created a ringtone for calls through Ringdroid and it would seem to be selected, but wouldn't play my selected file when the phone rang. Don't know what changed, but one day it suddenly seemed to work. Strangely, I haven't had a single issue with notifications not sticking since being rooted. I know that doesn't help solve your problem, but I wanted you to know it may not be a problem with RC4.9, maybe just something else going on.

Thanks for the reply. I never had issues with stock Sense, nor did I have them when I ran CM7 for a couple of days. I'm guessing that it might be a problem with RC 4.9. Not a huge issue, but it would be nice to hear my Super Mario 1-Up when I get a text :-)
