BATTERY SUCKS AFTER FROYO UPDATE !!!

The first day my battery life was just so so. the second night I lost 75% in 2 hours. The GPS icon was on constantly. My awake and up times were the same. I found TASKOS had used almost all of the battery life. I uninstalled it and my phone has better battery life than it did with 2.1

I'm not sure but I've had some BIG problems with my battery life since updating.

I updated to the Odexed/rooted OTA and I charged my phone and unplugged it and I accidently left the phone at home. I've previously turned off: Always on mobile data, 4g, wifi and gps and no auto syncing or auto sign in on GTALK. My battery went from 100 to 10 with NO USE at all from me, the battery status system said that android was using 94 percent of the power. this has happened 2 times already.

I've been using the rom for a few days and it seems there is tons of things running in the background.

Anyone else notice this?

Under running applications... what do you see?

i see:

calendar

htc dm

google service framework

htc iqagent

com.smithmirco.DM

voicemail

touch input

it's probably one of these that's keeping my awake time the same as up time, i just dont know which one.

I am in the EXACT same situation as you. I'm on the official OTA update and have noticed a substancial difference in battery life since upgrading yesterday morning. I can't even make it through a workday without the battery getting below 20% and I've barely been using the phone. I'm glad I am not the only one. I also don't feel that I should have to tweak all my phone settings and cripple features that I've grown accustomed to after using them in 2.1. I hope they come up with a fix for this soon. I'll try uninstalling the "LED Light" app too and see if that helps any.

Just to update everyone in this post... A hard reset fixed all my issues after the update. I'm back to loving my evo and enjoying froyo!! And getting at least 24 hours out of the battery. :)

I installed the .6 RUU (since I was one of those intrepid early-installers) and I'm now well over 24 hours for the third day in a row without any issues at all. I can't be any happier right now; this phone and the new firmware are full of win.

I've done a hard reset about 6 times and everythings fine in the beginning. But at some point my awake time starts to run even when the phone is suppose to be sleep.

My battery is rocking after .3 .6 update. Well at least the standby time isn't sucking the battery down like it was before.

Great Battery Life after Froyo

Just wanted to gauge how the rest of you were seeing your battery performance after making the 2.2 upgrade.

I pulled mine off the charger yesterday morning at about 7:00 am, and still have 30% left. This is with lots of Twitter, Facebook, 4Square and email. Light to moderate (at best) internet.

Anyone else having good experiences with battery life?

Ok, so I didn't get great battery life after the Froyo update it was pretty terrible with up time and awake time being exactly the same. So I called Sprint and I told them that there was a problem with my contacts syncing in my Gmail account so they tried fixing it and it didn't work, but they gave me another possible fix that would wipe out everything and well this fix worked flawlessly. Yes, I had to fix all my setting and Scenes but thats ok. I also did not upgrade my Facebook app as per Sprints advice. They said wait till Facebook comes up with an update to their app. I was able to get 19 hours of battery life (at that point there was still three bars left before I finally went to bed) with moderate usage Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Multiple games, Engadget App, web browsing and phone usage.

Right now I am going on 7 hours with only 10% of the battery being depleted. It must have been all those silly apps that I downloaded. I am not using an Advanced Task Killer, in the past I used to use one but not any more. Give your phone a chance and check your setting on all your apps to make sure they aren't polling unless you ask them to do so. I am only downloading apps that dont say will prevent your phone from sleeping. Its making a major difference.

Hope this helps some of you.

did the hard reset and it seems to work.. my up time and sleep time is different.. I also didn't download the Handsent app.. This seemed to be doing a lot of battery drain.. everything else is the same.. The new facebook app and ect ect. .

My battery life started out crappy.... About 15 - 20% worse than before I upgraded (I upgraded to the .3 and I am still running the .3 version) but after a week plus my battery life has actually slowly started to return to normal... Maybe even better... I pulled it off the charger at around 9 Sunday morning and it didn't go back on the charger until around 2 this afternoon when it finally dumped below 10%..... Since taking it off the charger at around 4ish I am still at 90% remaining at 9:00 at night.....

Battery once terrible now awesome

I had the early battery problem as well. I was getting 5 hours that 1st day. Most of my settings were the same as they were in 2.1. I hadn't downloaded any new apps either, so I was stumped. The next day I got about 8-10 hours before I had to plug in. At this point I was obsessively checking battery life and monitoring usage. The 3rd day and 4th day were pretty much the same, maybe even a little better. The only thing I deleted was Flickie Wallpapers as it did this auto rotate wallpaper thing every couple of hours and figured it was doing more harm than good (and it hardly worked anyway).

Today, WOW OH WOW. I was losing 1% per hour for the first 4 hours (I woke up around 10:30am). I even put on the HTC Clock widget with my weather (updating every hour). I also kept background data and auto-sync on as well. Admittedly, I hadn't used my phone that much this morning (a few emails, very little internet, and some texts). When I finally started to use my internet at the pool, it started to drain slightly faster (as it should) to about 89%. I came home, was on the internet for awhile, played some games. It is now 7:45 pm and I am at 68%. I have an Up time of 9 hours 22 min, and an awake time of 1 hour 22 min. So I am very happy. Maybe the people who were saying that android just needs a few days to remember your settings and configs were right....

Facebook app was updated a few days ago. Fixed memory leak, causing battery drain.

Losing about 6% an hour just in sleep mode, compared to 1% in eclair. Using ava v4
