Best Buy Note 7 Recall Thread

For the people that switched already...

Did you keep all the accessories? and how much pressure did BB try and get those accessories back from you in the box?

Really going to try and keep all of mine and the s pen

I was not even asked if I had the box/accessories (0 pressure) If I recall the Blue Shirt said that I got the new phone/box/acc and did not need to worry about the old one, they only wanted the phone (He was jazzed because he was also a Note 7 user) I did have the box out in the car if it was needed.
**I did not even think of trying to keep the old s-pen, I was just happy to have a non at risk note.

Cheers,
BR

Yes so i had a preorder for a different store and never got any emails to pick up plus that store had no new note 7. So i called other stores and found it at one so just walked in and swapped it so yes they should be able to do it.

Based on my experience with the swap process, BB did not have any kind of codes or real support in their system for the device exchanges. there were several manager overrides required and he had to void and restart the whole process because they could not get it to work. all that and it still only took about 30 perhaps 40min to complete. (AT&T phone)

Cheers,
BR

I did. Even got to keep the old S Pen. I didn't take the box with accessories because I was not told to, and as I was sitting there the Samsung rep told the girl helping me to go ahead and take my old S Pen out and give it to me because all Samsung cares about is the phone, as far as they are concerned you can have everything else.

yep same here the samsung rep told me to literally take everything except the phone itself. But yeah they even instructed me to just bring the box and the phone itself when i came to pick it up since they didn't care about all the accessories.

Received my Note 7 AT&T replacement today from pre-order with no problems at all, and they told me to keep everything that came with the phone including the S-Pen.

No, but that BB I did the reserve didn't really understand the procedure. Had to call some AT&T representative.

They was under the impression I'm doing some type of upgrade. The BB told me that my reserve will be waiting for me whenever my account is current. I plan on hitting up the BB Forum, but if it's this much of a hassle... I'm leaning toward just returning it for a refund.

I don't like taking too many trips to BB and having to wait for them to figure it out.

And that's where my exchange went horribly wrong. We was moving until she processed it as a return. Without doing anything to the upgrade status the phone kept ringing up as a new device. When no its not.

They're treating your exchange as new upgrade which technically yes they can't do til your account is current. It was my situation when I went to pre-order. I have two lines on my phone and the bill was due. The bill had to be paid before they could process the upgrade. I had my money but the other party did not. And AT&T wouldn't let me do the upgrade until it was settled.

But in your case the phone is already on the account. The phone is deemed not safe per Samsung's orders. Had that not been the case you wouldn't be here. Swap the old device and put the new one in its place. Granted this is a never done before event but they're not outlining clear instructions per each scenario.

Unfortunately there's gonna be a lot of issues until they streamline the process.

And because of these issues. I plan on doing a return.

I enjoyed my experience with the Note7, but I'm uncertain with how Samsung plans on dealing with it going forward. Even the resell value won't be as compelling.

I'm out. It's disappointing.

Well my Wife got involved.
She is in the corporate world. She called At&t and got the payment reversed. So we will be back on the next plan.
Best Buy had problems seeing it on their computer looking at At&t stuff , even with a email from At&t showing the case number where it was done.
I spent 2 hours there today, after 3 hrs yesterday.
But I got my new Note 7.
Kept the Stylus from the old note 7. They was asking for it.
Got the adapters out of the box also.
Phone is doing updates.

In front of the BB employees now exchanging. Policy is to let you keep everything. Whole process took about 25 minutes. I already backed up everything on my computer with smart switch.

Becoming happy!

I went into BB at lunch and they had a black Verizon N7 to exchange. The staff were efficient and nice. Smart Switch though was a disaster since I have 400 apps (40GB). One hour waste of time, so ended up unticking a lot of apps since it would take hours, and backed up on the SD card before leaving. Restoring now at work.

I also did the new firmware update and have a green battery icon. I think it looks cute with material black theme.

I can understand your frustration i would be so mad too. I think here the issue is carrier and best buy not allowing you even exchange. Samsung isn't at fault from what i see in this case:(.. bummer. Did you get a manager and then call Samsung so they can compel them to swap it ??

For those who now have the replacement note 7, how confident do you feel that your device is safe ? ( I understand all lithium batteries can explode at some point given circumstances).... Also especially when 2 exploded in China (although Samsung said that's an external heat source causing it)..

As I posted yesterday.

When I was at At&t talking to one of the Tech's that replaces the motherboards, Screens and does everything to the phones.

He said the problem with the note 7, now listen to this.
People are stopping at SERVICE STATIONS and places that sells cheap charging cords.
Now remember the Note 7 has a USB type C connector.
This type "C" connector allows for a faster charge and more electricity.
But the cheap charging cords does not control how much electricity that comes in to the phone.
So it allows the phones to over heat when they are charging.
He Highly suggested to Stay with Samsung Chargers.
And very good DC chargers to go in your car ALSO.

This is the key to remember when using things with your phones he said
DO NOT BUY CHEAP CHARGING CORDS OR CHEAP CHARGERS.
TRY TO STAY WITH SAMSUNG STUFF.

GOOD LUCK !

Luckily for me, I still have 2 cases I bought from amazon. So when I did my return of everything, I returned the accessory bundle too. This time around, I picked up 2 wireless charging pads, instead of 1 last time and 1 case. 2 cases at home. 2 wireless fast chargers, and a screen protector (which I have to go back and ask them to replace/fix cause they did a pretty craptastic job putting it on.

Great information thank you. What if I am traveling and I have anker portable battery and use it with the samsung usb C cord to charge?

I used mine all week in Seattle while at a conference and I had no issues (Pre-recall unit). So I'm guessing that the "fixed" ones should be ok.

Dumb questions, does wireless charging pad work while phone has a case on? Does wireless charger need to plugged in to the wall or only while charging the pad?
