Best Buy Note 7 Recall Thread

Take this with a grain of salt. Im at my local best buy right now and they are claiming they got an email this morning saying the phones are being shipped to them starting today. If what they are saying is true they should have some available starting next monday or tuesday.

Now theres 2 things preventing me from buying this. First they wont show me the email and second my district guy hasnt heard anything yet.

I work tomorrow. I'll check my email or I may go up there today to check.

We can't show customers our emails.

They don't have to show you the email and it might have been a thing they not suppose talk about yet. With that said, Best Buy Mobile usually get drop shipment daily but most bestbuy have truck night tues/thurs so most thing usually restock on wed/fri.

Either way they might need to plan a mini relaunch or something because they going have bad sales or orders if they sell as they get it.

I called my local best buy who said they are receiving verizon and sprint today and tomorrow. At&t is delayed cause they are supposedly going to corporate stores first. This is from samsung rep at store. I was told another store got an at&t one in yesterday...i called that bb store and was told they have no idea when any note 7's are coming in. Called yet a 3rd store and was told verizon phoned were coming in but sprint was backed up an at&t isn't coming in till maybe next week.

Oh.....-_-" you just reminded me how wack their inventory system are. This store get this, that store get that, this one YALLL GET NOTHING...yet, etc. I might drop by to see it but I might wait to pick it up again.

I went to BB this afternoon and they told me it's still several weeks before they get replacements. In the meantime...after seeing the news article this morning about the guy's Jeep in FL going up in flames b/c of his Note7...i'm going to go back to my Note5 and wait!

What I DON'T WANT is a new Note7 hastily put together that has other quality control issues.

I returned my Note 7 a couple of days ago. I had planned on keeping it until the new ones came in, but the more I thought about it, the more I felt it would be better to return it and consider another phone.

I had no problems returning my phone. The Verizon associate at my Best Buy knew exactly what to do, called Verizon and reversed the upgrade, called over his manager to verify and approve everything, and was very professional. We chatted about how much the recall stunk and about other possible phones. Although it took about 25 mintues (the Verizon rep hung up on him once), it was pretty easy, thank goodness.

Also wanted to say thanks to everyone who has posted and is offering their experiences. It helped me feel comfortable with my decision to return.

I called 2 Best Buy stores and a corporate At&t store.
nobody has recieved any shipments of Note & phones.
They are both taking Pre Orders for the Iphone 7.
And have no clue when they might get any.

Yes just called one too. Guy is pretty good and up to date with this. I drive an hour just to buy from that store but no go also here.

Some stores were rude about it like I said. Hopefully BBY actually gives you the 14 day window because I was told you don't get to reverse the upgrade once you swap the note 7 for another Samsung galaxy device. That's why i refused to complete the transaction at BBY and went to as many ATT stores necessary to resolve the issue. I still think in the end that ATT took care of me even though I had to do a lot of the work myself. I know Verizon is probably the least generous when it comes to customer service of the big four carriers. Just mull over your decision wisely. If you were going to switch carriers, why didn't you just do a full refund? No judgment, just curious...

I didn't get a full refund because I don't have a phone to use until I switch, and I didn't want to switch while my wife was at work and I couldn't talk to her about it. After I told her about my experience at the store, she was livid. She hasn't been happy with ATT for awhile now, and this pushed her over the edge.

I'm glad ATT took care of you. I wish I could've had that experience at the store. Customer care has always been good to me when I call them. This store has always been horrible.

I don't know that I really want to go to VZW; like ATT, I've heard lots of mixed reviews in regards to their customer service. Out of the other options (Sprint and T-Mo), VZW is the best bet for good coverage. Cost isn't too big a factor. I get 17% off with ATT right now, and I can get 18% off with VZW. The really hard part is timing. My wife is an iPhone user, so she'll want the 7, and I want my Note 7 back. My hope is that we can get her a 6s for now, pre-order the 7, and swap since it'll be within 14 days. For me, I'm hoping the Note 7 will be available again within the next 2 weeks, and I'll be able to swap back. If not, I can live with the S7E until the Note 8. At least I think I can.

Finally got an email from Best Buy after having registered:

Recently Samsung announced a battery issue with the Galaxy Note7 smartphone. We are working with Samsung to get new Note7s into our stores, and we are prioritizing customers like you who have purchased Note7s from Best Buy. Our primary goal is your safety, and we encourage you to visit a Best Buy to learn more about our exchange program options. Our Blue Shirts are ready to help find the best solution for you. Options include exchanging your current Note7 for another Samsung Galaxy, getting registered for a new Note7, or returning your phone for a complete refund. To make it easy, we have eliminated the restocking fees and extended the return window until September 30, 2016 for any customer who purchased a Galaxy Note7.

Here are a few things you should bring with you:
  • Please bring the Note7
  • Please bring in the receipt if you have it, but if not we will look it up
  • Bring any accessories you wish to exchange

And then there was a link for 'Learn more' but it just takes you to the same registration page as before. Oh well, progress I guess.

Looks like best buy is finally letting people know what the proper protocol will be.

Well. Not suprised. I too called an at&t corporate store and was told they have no idea. Seems that the samsung guy at my local BB knows more or is willing to share what he knows. The whole thing is screwy. Nobody wants to hang on to a device that may or may not catch fire - but those wanting a new note 7 do not have many options unless you have an older phone you can switch to until replacements actually come in. BB will not offer loaners - u can switch to a S7 and return within 14 days but I seriously doubt the note 7 will be in stock by then. Hopefully Samsung will get their act together and issue a proper recall and give out more information - until then its he said she said...don't charge your phone unattended or while driving your car. Have a pitcher of water on standby. This note 7 is best one since the note 3 in my opinion.

Just left a Best Buy store in Indy, rep said they are receiving Verizon note 7 today hadn't heard anything about other carriers

Question. Anyone have any issues with screen cracking? I have owned all the note phones and have dropped them more than I would like to admit. I dropped Note 7 a foot from the ground and it cracked. I have a urban armor gear case on it but no screen protector. I am very lucky that I can exchange for a new phone but am a little worried about the durability of the screen...anyone else have issues with screen?

When i talked to samsung rep at best buy he said he hasn't heard of any issues..but forum om samsung seems to say that issue may be more widespread

Just got this email...

Glad to see y'all are getting the emails from Best Buy Also.
I also got a email from At&T a day or two before that.

I went to my Best Buy and still don't know anything. I spoke to the store manager and asked and didn't find anymore out. Asked if they will call me when the phones come in and didn't know. Took my Name and Number and said will call when they come in ( I don't believe that) Oh well will keep going to store and checking I guess. I want this over with. We are still using our Notes the same way as always.
