cdma

I was in a Food Lion when visiting my uncle a few weekends ago and happen to see my phone in the Food Lion store and it said and the top of the screen it said CD MA. What does this mean. I am used to LTE or 3G and every once in awhile GPRS but what is this CDMA stuff?

anyone else

Anyone else thinking of switching from a different provider to t-mobile? If so why? They are doing great business plan as far as what they are doing to get customers to sign up with them. the publicity and marketing they are doing is awesome.

Re: Samsung s3

If my memory servers me correctly, the S3 came out in 2012. As long as the screen is still good and you have a good battery it should last a good while.

Re: anyone else

I am responding here as someone who already did... I switched from Verizon Wireless to T-Mobile early in 2014... shortly after they announced their ETF program. Over a year in, and I am very happy I made the choice.... I've never felt as though I am getting the run around, or being taken advantage of. Customer service has been excellent... I've had to contact them a couple of times for this issue or that and every time I am treated like a valued customer.

T-Mobile is kind of driving wireless in the US at this point... they are constantly coming out with new programs and the other three major carriers have been playing catch-up. In fact, I think there is another one of their 'Un-Carrier' events tomorrow.

The only weakness that T-Mobile has is their coverage. They haven't blanketed the nation with towers like Verizon and AT&T have, so there are places where their coverage is either spotty or non-existent. I suggest you take a look at their coverage map and then look where you travel.... if you are in an area with good coverage, you'll have zero complaints. And they are expanding. I've seen service in my area improve in the 14 months I've been a customer.

Call quality is awesome, LTE speeds are really fast as well.

Re: cdma

CDMA or code divide multiple access, is Verizon's 2g and 3g technology. What phone do you have? Normally it should show either lte, 3g or 1x ( 2g)

Re: happy or not

I am happy with Verizon overall. Verizon is the only carrier who provides excellent service where I need it. Price wise, I have a legacy plan and Verizon's price is much much much lower than equivalent plans on other carriers (current or legacy) for my needs. Best service and lowest price for my needs are very compelling reasons to stay with Verizon.

Now there are things that I don't like - phone selection is much improved but still not on par with the other carriers - Verizon is typically delayed in release and some phones won't even work on Verizon due to cdma requirements.

Verizon customer service is a mixed bag. Sometimes great but sometimes really bad. And their customer policies are among the worst in the industry.

Re: anyone else

T-Mobile customer base is going to grow a lot by the end of 2015 when they complete the 700Mhz spectrum rollout nation wide.

"As of the end of the third quarter [2014], T-Mobile owned or had agreements to own 700 MHz A-Block spectrum covering 176 million POPs, or around 55 percent of the U.S. population. The spectrum covers more than 70 percent of the company's existing customer base." In 2015 T-Mobile has scoop up more 700 MHz spectrum for LTE deployments. http://www.fiercewireless.com/story...e-700-mhz-spectrum-lte-deployments/2014-12-01

Then T-Mobile will re-farm all of the Metro PCS spectrum. Wife is still using her old CDMA Metro PCS phone and it still works good on Metro's old CDMA towers. At some point TMO will shut down those CDMA towers and add that extra spectrum to it's current GSM towers in some places. Add in that both Google and Vodafone will start up MVNO under T-Mobile by the end of the year.

It sounds like you are one of the few lucky people who still have unlimited data. You are paying the same price that I am paying for one gig. I think it is hilarious. Verizon back then was wonderful but now is very expensive if you use more than a couple gigs of data. I do agree with you that they do have great reception.

Re: cdma

I know that CD ma is the technology that Verizon uses. However I did not know what it stands for so I learned something today. I do not travel there very often and have only seen this one time. Usually it is as it should be either LTE or 3G. Sometimes it drops down to the GPRS which I am sure is 2g. Then this one time it said CDMA like I said. I do not know how to take a screenshot. I haha I have and love my samsung galaxy s3.

Re: anyone else

Thank you for all the replies that I have gotten so far. I am as I may have mentioned before testing at mobile phone right now. In my current location I am quite happy. The service is great at my house and pretty good everywhere else except in a few spots at my college which is a huge building. It suffers when going really far inside the building but that is not too big of a deal as Verizon does sometimes as well. I just wanted to see if anybody was doing the switch and what they thought. I may consider switching as time goes on but do not really want to purchase a new phone at this time. Thankfully I use a very very small amount of data when on the go. I have two phones on my account mine and my moms and that would cost a lot of money to replace. My phone for one will not even work except for voice on the T Mobile network. Her iPhone 5c I think we'll be fine if we switch.

Re: anyone else

I so look forward to the next uncarrier event tomorrow. Is there any way to stream it live? I think it would be super cool.

Re: anyone else

Is there anyway you can post a link to the live stream? I will research it later when I can get to an actual computer.

There were a few opportunities to get unlimited data, the most recent being in November 2014. Who knows, a new opportunity may pop up.

Re: cdma

Interesting, any chance you were roaming on one of Verizon's partners?

Re: cdma

I do not think so it was here in North Carolina. This particular Food Lion has very bad reception for all carriers. One side of the store I had LTE the other down to 3G and on the other side absolutely nothing and that is when this funny stuff popped up. I did not think to try to get online to see if it would work or if you run a speed test I just thought it was really weird. I do not even know if I can get it to do it again. maybe it means absolutely no network at all. I do not know.

Re: happy or not

Tell me about these opportunities. I heard nothing about them except for some people selling them online for more than I can afford but what they're definitely worth. I have not heard of anything directly from verizon wireless if you know something please please please enlighten me.

You used to be able to take over lines from people who had it. This is no longer possible. At the moment I don't know any way to get an unlimited line if you don't already have one.

These methods were loopholes. Verizon doesn't officially support them. Also there were people offering unlimited data lines for free around November 1014
