Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/09/2011 | experimental: 08/08/2

Is this Rom Dead? I was bummed just before the first update would have shown up in the CM Updater, no more updates :-( looks like its been a month, how long until we call these dead?
Very top of the very first post:
Project On Hold: Real life (and my soon-to-be business) are taking precedence over this project at the moment. Don't think I'm abandoning this, I'm just extremely busy lately.

Drew hasn't abandoned it, he's still active in the forum, and even released a GB kernel a few days ago. Just may be a little while before the next update.

There is also a new Xionia kernel that can be flashed on top of this rom.

Ok, so I have an odd problem that just started - no new apps installed.

My alarm clock will go off on the phone, but nothing will appear on screen to dismiss/snooze and the buttons to make it dismiss/snooze don't work either.

Any ideas?

Awesome ROM - running Experimental right now.

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/09/2011 | experimental: 08/08/2

[INFO]About the CM7 repo:
As many of you have already heard, the main Linux kernel servers were broken into and as a result the main Android kernel repository has been taken offline (as well as other things like the main kernel.org website) and syncing with the current CM7 repository is thus impossible.

I have found a way to do what I am calling a FrankenSync, which is a custom sync using the CodeAurora.org repository in place of the kernel.org one and some other repositories for things that aren't in the CodeAurora repository. As soon as that finishes I will do a build!

Update:
Doing the things described above results in an incomplete (and unusable) tree.

tl;dr
No CM7 builds until the main Android repository is brought back online.

Update 2:
Solved the issue I was having, I was making it harder than it really was. Cleanly synced (hopefully), and building at the moment.
[/INFO]

I've noticed that when I change my dock background the image won't change until I restart my phone. This happened using the gallery and also with Quickpic

No, the build fails due to an incomplete source tree. I'm in contact with someone who has a tree that's approximately 3 weeks old. It's outdated by a bit, but that's what we have to work with.

Until the kernel.org servers come back up (ETA unknown), nobody will be able to produce clean, synced and updated builds.

I'm just happy to hear about a new build coming. We already waited a month, we can wait a little longer.

It feels kinda weird saying "I haven't flashed my ROM in over 3 weeks". Does this make me a ROM addict?

Yes, you need to check yourself into ROMaholics Anonymous.

LOL. I think you're just addicted to being on the bleeding edge. I feel the same kind of disconnect and fidgeting when my rolling release Linux desktop doesn't have any updates for a week or more. The good news is that a software addiction is more practical to sustain than a hardware addiction. ;)

How do I go about disabling visual voicemail and the notifications? I don't really want to use the method where I have to download a different messaging app. Any way to just delete it so I don't get the voicemail text message?

First off this rom is great and I love it aside from my wife's and my phone going nuts the other day and everything kept crashing includeing the Google framework but was fixed by wipeing everything and starting from scratch no biggy and if some one can explain that to me please do so I can prevent it. But my question is now that gb has been released for our phones is drew going to be able to make this rom that much better easily when they figure out all the technical for the new update.

Well, now I can't wait until CM7 gets updated for ZVH; I tried restoring my nandroid of this Rom after upgrading to ZVH, and it only works as a WiFi device, no calling, no data... Baseband unknow, PRL unknown, etc...

...off to gROM for now...

Re: Drew's CM7 builds (stable: 08/09/2011 | experimental: 08/08/2

Well, I just donated some small cash to the OP, as the OP saved my bacon. I had updated via some other instructions/rom, and I could not make calls, and also wifi would only connect if I used a static IP. So, I hit this thread and updated to this ROM and all is well. I'm happy. If people would show some support via the paypal button, I'm sure the world of androids would be a bit happier.
