wow...i finally got it..lol i never stop looking..the speech library (libspeech.so) was missing and i pushed it back in there....Is there a program to read the apk file that way i can trouble shoot whats missing?

thanks
1. Thanks for the fix.
2. When you're dealing with official Google stuff, you can find dependency information (and other useful info for debugging) at the Android developer site

39 downloads. Talk to me someone.

hahaha i was about to when i seen this.

ok, i choose to conserve. and the only thing i noticed that the boot time is a bit slow...i powered off my phone and took the battery out, waited like 10 second and powered on.It improved by a margin.

I'll stress test it to see how it'll make out in couple of days.

Thanks. I really needed to be sure it flashed so I can switch away from Windows and go back to work at it.

Conserve is going to be slower. But IMO it's perfect for people who are away from home and a charger for long stretches at a time.

oh ok yea its flying smooth after it boots up to the home screen.I thought it had something to do, the way i partitioned the sdcard...

thanks

To any testers -
Please verify kernel version in settings->about phone.

After you have entered a choice through the terminal, please pull the /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor and open it with a text editor. It should only say "ondemand", "powersave" or "performance" and should reflect your choice.

GREAT! Please don't reflash. That was my next test lol.
Ok so I flashed it and it got stuck after the nexus screen and on the HTC black screen with the taskbar. I wiped, reflashed gumbo and updated the kernel and it worked.

Was afraid of that. Paul has the kernel module directory symlinked and using his new kernel also includes a script thats going to call for things that are no longer there.

Something I may be able to easily fix in the next version. For now - marked as not compatible.
Thanks for the update.

No problem, let me know if you need me too test anything else for you...I'll PM you my email address.

LOL. The fact that it shows anything in the file is good. After a bit of digging, ignore the script commands.

SetCPU for Root Users [UPDATE 1.4.4 Auto] 01/25/2010 - xda-developers

Download the latest version. The app picks up the kernel's cpu governers, and applies them correctly. Be sure to set up for a Hero in the app. The sliders and widget don't seem to work, but i can verify the app changes the governer as it should. I'll probably pull out the scripting rather than try to debug them. This app is a better solution IMO.

ok will do..thanks :)

No, thank you. This is the only way to see how things work for users that simply flash the zip. I've pushed and edited all the files on my machine and need people like yourself who are willing to put up with and report bugs, and patient enough to try the recommended fixes.

I hate beta testing publicly, but I had no choice this time. Be sure to send me your email address as well if you're interested in other beta testing.

i'll probably reflash Gumbo and apply this update later on tonight. Thanks for all your hard work gb. Did you get my PM?

I'm currently running Modaco's latest ROM with his custom kernel (2.2 I think). What does this kernel offer over his? Better power management? Any other features?

I would gladly help out. You suggest a factory wipe and then flash your kernel?

In theory, battery life is the goal of this kernel. Until I can get overclocking even semi stable, I'm leaving compcache to Paul and TK. One bug at a time ya know? lol

This isn't going to work on MoDaCo 2.x, or any ROM that has flashed Paul's new kernel at all. Other ROM's, maybe. If you'd like to test, please wipe then flash Gumbo 1.5b, then flash the kernel over. Also see above to get the setcpu app from xda. Set the cpu to powersave or msm7k and see if the battery life improvment (if any) is worth the slowdown of the phone.

OK I'll install now and test throughout tomorrow.

Wipe is not recommended?
