[HOW-TO] Flashable Zip: Install Honeycomb to Internal Memory (eMMC) of Nook Color

Ok, so right now I'm running Android 2.1 rooted on my Nook Color. If I wanna go up to Android 3.0 on my Nook Color, can I go back to rooted 2.1 if I want to?

If I can re-install the original Nook OS back onto this, then I don't mind erasing EVERYTHING on my Nook Color to get 3.0 on it.

keep your eMMC alone and buy this micro sd card Amazon.com: Centon Class 6 (6 MB/S) Micro SDHC 8 GB Flash Card 3 in 1 kit with MiniSD and Standard SD Adapters RC8GBRSDHC3-1 (Black): Electronics then go to this post http://forum.androidcentral.com/bar...oad-install-honeycomb-nook-color-sd-card.html and there you go...when you want to go to the rooted 2.1 just remove the micro sd card

Mounting Error and Black Screen

I tried to flash HC to internal with adb method and got the small andorid in the LL corner and went no further. Turned on and off and got black screen. Had to burn CWR to SDCard and boot from there. Trying zip method get to: Format system - OK. Format Data - OK, but Format - Boot I get the following error:
E:failed to mount /boot (Invalid argument)
Error mounting /boot!
Skipping format...
Done.
E:Can't mount/ cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log

At this point I have tried to restore my Nook using this method but to no avail - http://forum.androidcentral.com/bar...5414-how-restore-nook-color-rooted-stock.html.

Any guidance will be appreciated.

Really Dumb Question

This is an incredibly stupid question - but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I was able to flash Honeycomb to an 8gb card and install the market, google services, etc. I am incredibly amazed at how well this runs, especially when you take into account that the nookcolor is a $249 ebook reader and Honeycomb is running off of a card! What I can't figure out, however, is how to load any music/video/pictures onto it (apps are installing fine from the Market). I've connected the nook to 2 computers (both running Windows 7) and they show two removable drives but they both show as no space available. When I use the Nook it claims to have about 600 megs of storage space available. I have no doubt I'm doing something extremely stupid, but since I was able to do the rest of this without knowing anything about adb, command lines, etc. I guess I'm due for overlooking something extremely obvious. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I have the same issue. In addition i can load video via the SD card but it is hit or miss weather or not they play. most do not.

Thanks alot for your helpfull post, i succesfuly installed hc with the flashable zip. But is it still possible for me to overclock it to 1.1 ghz? or is overclock only with the adb install?

Twitter

Has anyone had success getting Twitter or any Twitter client apps running? I have tried Twitter, Plume, and Tweetcaster with no success.

Can I recover the SD card to factory specs? I'm totally lost here...I think i got in too deep.

The "flashable" zip didn't work, but the ADB method worked fine (once I finally downloaded the files from FileFactory, which is the worst media host I've ever used, BTW). I was not able to get the bitTorrent versions of the downloads to work.

Has anyone figured out what apps you can and cannot install?

Have it working

After all the posts I have made, I want to thank everyone for their help. I have HC running very smoothly with the internal ROM and am looking forward to the true AOSP code being ported/hacked.

Only problem I ma having is with a few apps - can't seem to get Twitter or any Twitter cliens to work. Also a problem with Jorte calendar app, but decided to buy CalenGoo - great app.

I got TweetCaster to work fine, that was it tho

For the life of me I can't get Twitter, Tweetcaster, Plume, TweetDeck, or Seesmic to let me into my Twitter account using the Nook HC. Strange...

I was following the first instructions - but after formatting system, boot, and data, when I hit "power" to go back, the device froze. I turned it off, but it won't turn back on anymore... :(

Nevermind, holding power for 15 seconds or so got it to turn back on. Honeycomb is installed! Thanks for all the work everyone's put into this!

Huge thanks to everyone working on this...

An update on the market stuff: About half the apps I try to download I'm able to and the other half don't. I expect many apps to not _work_, but it surprises me they won't download.

Also, youtube installed fine, but won't play any videos.
