Issues So Far with GSIII

I got 16 hours out of my battery, I couldn't even get 8 hour out of my S2. Now I'm charging but here's a picture anyways.

So far I am disappointed with the battery life of my S3. I don?t know what I am doing wrong. I don?t have anything running as far as I know. I have the battery percentage turned on and I charged the phone and watch the percentage and it goes down fast in my opinion. A single charge only last me a day because I don?t use the phone that much. Also my hand motions don?t work at all been trying all day to get the ?palm swipe to take a screen shot to work? and ?palm cover to mute? and nothing happens. I also keep getting notifications for emails that I have already checked. Anyone else having these problems? I don?t see the point in taking it to the service center or calling since it seems like the consumers know more about the phone then people working for Sprint?..:'(

Did you turn on all the motion controls? Out of the box they are all off.

Epic_samantha has several good suggestions for extending battery life. You might also try Juice Defender. It allows you to customize your battery use.

Can't say in having any battery issues especially coming from my evo.

some things i'm doing:

when wifi is connected turn off mobile data. no need for both.
on power save mode i tone down emails and web.
whenever i use the phone before ending I always clear the cache.
I always keep brightness on the screen at 30% or so.
All vibration is turned off including keypad.
Sync is turned off (I can't figure out how to sign out of google talk though)

Sorry coming from an evo you do everything to save your battery.

Modify your Google Talk settings from your PC.

For you guys having weird battery drain issues, remember that Sprint's GS3 is a 4G LTE phone and Sprint doesnt have LTE yet so you might want to make sure your LTE radio is off because that will drain juice. I dont have a GS3 but to turn it off it should be in settings and under Mobile Networks. There are two options, CDMA+ LTE and CDMA only, check the one that is CDMA only. Just offering a little advice :)

For several days in, this post is surprisingly light on the "issues." I haven't had an issue with registering taps on the browser, so I don't know if this is a hardware or software issue.

I have never been a fan of motion controls or gestures because I have always found these to be flaky in real world use - that's why I am glad that Android as an OS mostly depends on buttons and menu options. S-Voice is terrible, but the Google voice commands are still there with the little microphone right next to the search bar on the home screen. The Samsung keyboard with its faux Swype T9 really sucks, so I downloaded the Swype beta, which is a huge improvement. The screen dimming is the one thing that is legitimately annoying for which there is no easy fix.

The battery life has been awesome for me: on Saturday it lasted from 8 am to past midnight with 15% left even though I have multiple widgets, live wallpaper, push e-mail with syncing from multiple accounts, and I was recording 1080p video with the screen on for quite a while. The biggest source of battery drain for me on my old phone was weak cellular/data signal, but the radios are much better on the S3. However, if you are in an area with very weak Sprint service, the battery will probably still drain quickly. With my old phone, I just learned the particular rooms and buildings at work where I had incredibly weak signal and toggled airplane mode as I went in and out. This may not be a reasonable solution to your problems, just my experience.

Next up for me,

With my earbuds in (beats by dre) while listening to music, when I receive a call I'm able to pick it up by sliding the green phone to the center on the S3 (not by pressing the button on the beats by dre headphones), the call audio does not transmit through my headphones, I have to put the phone up to my ear and take my earbuds out.

I'm sure this is a setting that I couldn't locate. Anyone have any tips?

I see that everyone talks about swipe beta. Where can I get this? Thank you!

WiFi randomly and frequently drops connection and reconnects on any and all access points I have used.

happens to me at least 2 times a day lol
And I've turned off that Sprint optimizer also so it's not that lol

Why don't you guys download chrome, works great on my EVO LTE, try it out

OK, so I tried Chrome, FireFox, and Maxthon today. I liked the light feel of Chrome, just a right to the point browser and I wa sok with the other two as well. The thing that I didn't like and couldn't for the life of me figure out how to change is the permanent address bar. Is there any way to get it to scroll up with the page like the stock browsers do? I like the extra screen real estate as I read and post on a lot of forums.

I'm coming from an history of 3 HTC Evo's, the last EVO 4G lte I had for a couple of weeks. When I pinch to zoom in the browser, the EVOs would enlarge the letters and realign the words/pics to fit the page. The samsung browser doesn't appear to do this.
Also I don't like the keyboard and predictive texting. If you look at it while your typing it throws you off.

I answered this in another thread. Here it is again...

Yes, it is pretty easy. Open a webpage, click on settings. You will have to pan down on the menu to get to setting. Choose advanced and choose to autofit pages. Back out of advance and go into the accessibility menu. At the bottom there are sliders to adjust text size and zoom amount when you double click.
