I got the impression he did that in post #3 and #10, but maybe it's worth another shot.

I did; that was the first thing I tried. I'm willing to try it again, at this point I might have to go back to the Eclair builds and hope that whatever Froyo build that Verizon actually releases will work better for me.

Is it possible that there is a bios/firmware problem here? I don't know what residual code there is with the Clockwork mods, does it overwrite some system software? Or is it just the update.zip that you run from the standard recovery console?
