LG G4 Battery Life Thread

Re: FDR and Battery Life

I wouldn't read to much into it. It's still great battery life. And really, of your phone sleeps well and it probably does, then maybe it uses 1% of battery every hour it sleeps. So 4 hours of up time (but sleeping) only equates to 4% of battery.

Also, if your screen is using 50% of your battery, which it probably is at 6h SOT, then 50/6= 8.33% battery/hour of SOT. So that extra 11 minutes of SOT is using 1.53% of battery. So out of that 4% you are really only searching for 2.47% of battery since the extra SOT took some.

Not sure if my rambling helped lol.

That's true. It still seems odd that an FDR would result in less battery life, though.

Makes me even more stubborn about buying in to that cure-all that is the FDR.

Re: FDR and Battery Life

Check to see if the Fdr caused your cellular service to default to "global".

Re: FDR and Battery Life

You're welcome.
This would be a great opportunity to see what kind of difference being in global makes.

Re: FDR and Battery Life

I always check after ota updates, too. Have had them reset phones to global, as well.

If I'd just bought the phone, I'd have switched it. Knuckleheaded move by me to not think of it with the FDR.

Re: FDR and Battery Life

Hope this helps your battery life, and, if it does, I hope you are able to give us an idea how much it helps. I've never been able to quantify the difference.

I bought the one in the first link so I will just tell myself that the one at Amazon is a crappy knock off so I don't get ticked off :)

Anyways. I am diving in whole heartedly ... Just finally got a sd card .. Awesome to have my pics and music off the main memory!

I've never had a spare battery before. What do you guys do? Trade it out once a week or on some other system? How about standby time. How long will the OEM last at 100% in my briefcase?

If I creep back up to the 20 hours overall battery life now, well have a good idea.

People have been getting a little different results, but on mine standby is amazing. It rivals my iPhones standby time. It stays at 100% for hours.

As far as the spare battery, I think generally the idea it's to keep it close, in a briefcase our wherever, and swap it when the current battery gets low. It's for heavy users. That said, even if you're not a heavy user, it's a great idea to have a spare for emergencies, or if the original starts to die out. As in, if it won't hold a charge anymore.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was wondering how long the battery would stay at 100% in my briefcase (as a spare) outside of my phone. Thx

Re: FDR and Battery Life

Just here to say that this is one of the more interesting threads I've ever read. I've thoroughly enjoyed my reading, haha. It will be interesting to see how much global made the battery difference.

Where is that setting? I've seen it mentioned in other threads, but can't find it. I wonder if its not on my Bell carrier phone.

I don't usually swap between the original and the spare as both are still in excellent condition. I might start to use the spare for day-to-day use if the original starts to age noticeably and if that would start to cut into my daily usage pattern. But for now I am simply keeping it as a spare for things like photography and heavy use during days out.
When fully charged, the spare should certainly last for days, perhaps a week or so. It depends on your operating environment as well - batteries don't tend to keep the charge in cold temperatures for example.
Also note that for long-term storage, the spare should be charged to about 50 % or so.

Yep, they hide it pretty well, don't they? Hope you found it via the prior posts.

Here's what I've got:

Does that seem right? I know it's probably the programmer in me, but not seeing a "global" option, I just want to make sure I'm set up optimally. I'm pretty sure that by "global" you all mean "gsm".
