LG G4 Battery Life Thread

I have the very model in EE in the UK. I have had many, many phones, all android and flagships. This is easily the best in my humble opinion. I have none of the problems mentioned above. The camera is beyond belief, it's amazing. Battery life is very good and I live in the country and only have 2G (which is more of a drain than 3/4G and also lose signal a lot due to location and the phone really has to use energy searching for a signal. All this and yet brilliant battery life. The screen is stunning. Compared to your previous phone you will think you have jumped forward a hundred years. I have the leather black back and like the look, feel and grip of it very much. The phone is much lighter than my last phone (Sony Z2). One word of my usage. I turn all LG software off by disabling them in the 'apps' option and run Nova Launcher prime. The LG software (like all the other skins) wastes too much space in my opinion. I always have to have screens at 100%brightness due to having limited sight but this screen is so clear and good for the first time in my life I am only running on 75% brightness.

I suppose by now your will have chosen your phone but I hope this helps others chose in the future.

how many spare batteries do you need for LG G4

I am wondering how many spare batteries do you need for LG G4. Just found out that mpj released battery for G4 and I am trying to decide whether to go ahead and order my third one.

Just the free one in came with I guess... never swapped even that one.

Same, can count the number of times I've used the free spare from LG on one hand.

I would start low and just acquire them as you need more. I have just 1 now and rarely use it (mostly because I'm always near a charger)

I've never used my freebie yet but I do have it and a 2.0 quick charger at the office so I am covered for any situation!

Re: how many spare batteries do you need for LG G4

One has been fine. I use it when navigating sometimes so I don't have to plug in and get the phone real hot, also if I forget to plug in at night I just do a quick swap and I'm good to go. Also used it on vaca where nowhere near a charger.

Don't use it a ton but the option is important to me and it will influence my next phone purchase.

I have 3 and just ordered the zero lemon case... I prefer to be untethered.

I don't have any for my G4. I am almost always able to charge when needed without issue. I did have 2 spares with my Note 4. I never plugged that phone in. I would always have a battery ready and just swap. It was nice. If I stick with the g4 for a while then I will do the same.

I have 1 and that works great, especially for travel.

Re: how many spare batteries do you need for LG G4

I'm just using the installed battery, but I work as a mobile engineer so got some QI stickers in all of my backs and a vehicle QI mount off eBay. Battery stays pretty much in the high 90s all day and that's running NavMii and Spotify through Bluetooth permanently whilst I'm driving

Re: how many spare batteries do you need for LG G4

I swap mine out daily. Charge one overnight, works until I get home (usually a few hours after), then I swap it out - as I've usually got something to do/somewhere to go that I don't have the time to charge the battery.

Granted, I now have three batteries (was told to keep the one that was in my phone that was sent back), so I have one at home, one in my pocket, and one in the phone.

Re: FDR and Battery Life

I just fixed the WiFi Settings crash issue I was having and described in this thread:

http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g4/573535-handful-apks-safely-debloat.html#post4675099

I wonder if there could be a connection to that problem and my battery life. There was no obvious hint that's the case in anything I could see, but I'm interested to find out if the battery suddenly starts gaining ground again. It was the only thing not working properly (at least visibly), and nothing in battery stats gives any himt as to a culprit. We'll see.

OK, it's been 8 days since I restored the APKs for NFC and Bluetooth features and settings. At the time I did that, as I posted then, my battery life was:

15 H 17 M overall, 5 H 53 M SoT.

Right now:

17 H 36 overall, 5 H 43 M SoT.

Also, today's drain rate at this point should bump those numbers a touch more when I put the phone on the charger at the end of the day. So, headed in the right direction.

While it could be the Global to LTE/CDMA switch had some positive impact, that seems unlikely (at least in that small window of time), since it seemed to have none in the couple of days before I fixed my WiFi settings crash issue by restoring NFC and Bluetooth. Plus, the battery seemed to start gaining ground much closer to that repair.

It will take some time for the numbers to level off. I'm interested to see if I wind up back where I was before FDR (20 h total/6:15 SoT), or gain a drop or two more juice.

Re: how many spare batteries do you need for LG G4

Why not get an external power pack?

I have an external pack, though not QC. I've used it on flights, etc. But the phone charges slowly if warm, so depending on conditions, you might need the charger connected for a long time to actually charge the battery.

Especially if walking around, I prefer to just swap my battery if needed. That keeps the phone portable and not tethered to a cable.

I could use the external pack to recharge the dead battery in its charger, however, if it came to that.

I can see your point, but I guess it depends on how you wrap your phone... my Spigen Neo Hybrid case is great, but it's a pain to take off and put back on, I'd hate to have to do that each time I needed to swap my battery.

Also, I can see how a normal vs. QC battery pack would influence how you go about the process.

Re: how many spare batteries do you need for LG G4

I have two, one being the free one. I don't have a quick charger, so usually one is charging while the other is in use. I need 2 about 1 day out of 3. But my use is way over "normal"

Why not get an external power pack? I use an Aukey 10,000mA quick charge pack: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...hawk-future-ca-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU4693532 A lot easier than swapping batteries; I keep it in my knapsack that I have with me most places.

How do you figure that it's more convenient to use a power pack? Just because the case you choose to use is pain to take off and put on? I can't even imagine having to plug in a power brick and carry/hold the two tethered together for however long until it's charged. But then again if I even have a case on mine it's a tpu that's very easy to remove.
