[LINK][ROM] Liquid Thunderbread v2.6 (8/06/11)

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

This is exactly what I have been seeing performance wise.

Ok BigJohn... so has every ROM given you the same issue... or are just blaming this one???

And how about a list of apps you have and are running??? I have not read every post by you so I don't know if you've address some of this, but it's good starting information to base a good guess on.

I can say with absolute certainty that my smart phone is running Beautiful Widget's Weather everytime I wake it up... it actively sync's 3 email accounts and updates Facebook every hour.... and beyond a few widgets here and there like my calendar I mostly have shortcuts to some apps on my screen... no other scheduled apps to check anything or chew up my battery life. How about you???

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

Das Bamf did chew up my battery as well.
Over night using stock or a custom ROM i can see it drop 20-30% just stitting there. In Bamf I would kill everything right before bed so it was just in standby.
Do I just have a lame battery? I mentioned in my other thread that BAMF and liquid/cm7 show different battery levels. Bamf would show 64% and then I'd flash and load up liquid and it was in the 80s.

My use during those two hours was configuring the phone after loading the ROM (widgets, etc).
BTW I love how you can remove the label from widgets. It's nice and clean without letters cluttering.
Now I'm down to 59 and it was just in my pocket....
I have gmail, yahoo, and enhanced mail all pushing or synching. I have weather bug but it only updates once an hour. Also a widget for Jorte calendar but I don't know what it pulls.
OK just looked at my battery use and it looks like Fish Bowl photo gallery has been chewing for 2 hours 44% of battery....
I'm gonna kill it and see how that goes. I have that because I didn't like the Sense photo gallery.

I've only used this and BAMF RC4. I got slightly better performance from RC4 than LTB. I tried LTB because I wanted to see if I could get better battery life. I'm new to all of this so my first assumption is to assume it is operator error which is why I said in my previous post that I must be doing something wrong.

I have beautiful widgets lite running with the same weather setting. That's the only widget I have. I'm syncing 2 gmail accounts and one AOL account via K9. I also have facebook, twitter and g+ syncing at various intervals. Like I said, I was overclocked at 1.4. I dialed it back to 1 and saw slightly better results.

I went back to RC4 but I plan on trying LTB again and trying some different app configurations. Thanks for your help.

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

@schrochem

Sorry... I have no idea how you can flash a ROM (assuming you are unplugged) and go from 64% battery life to in the 80s as you said.

I'm also guessing you are a former Blackberry user by the use of the word "standby"... android's don't go into standby mode, not like the BB does.

But if you flash a ROM, then setup all your apps... that does eat your battery... and in some cases it doesn't exactly stop the apps... not to mention all the battery it eats just loading a new ROM. If you're not using weather bug why have it check for weather every hour unless you are on it... personally I prefer only to update when I wake up my phone... my Beautiful Widget's weather app has a setting to refresh when I wake it. And any widget will use battery... it has to interact and repaint the screen when you turn on that screen... so the more widgets you have the more battery it eats.

This is my simple home screen... like I said I have it check the weather when I wake it up... but other than that there are no widgets on the home screen.

I'm trying to help, but I'm not there to check all your configuration and what might be eating up your battery. I do know from using this ROM I've had very good battery life as you can tell my last Wifi battery test.

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

OK I turned off weather for now. Its not very interesting at current anyway....the battery thing happened in cm7 and liquid when coming from bamf. I am coming from the BB world where I ran on hybrids. I guess by standby I just meant screen off all night. I do have some Widgets on the home screen. Wifi on/off, Gmail count, enhanced mail, and the rest are just shortcuts to apps. I'm at 32 now. I was at 39 when I started this response....

I don't mean to hijack this thread because I really do like this rom. I'm just wondering if this battery issue is what others see. I was just at 29 and rebooted. It came up as 19. Now its at 16. WTH is going on here?

I am seeing similar numbers. I have begun to delete apps to try and find the culprit.

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

When I looked at battery use and it said fish bowl was at 44% I think that wasn't correct. I uninstalled it and went back to look at battery use and it said cell standby was 44%....
Right now I'm at 15%.
Battery info says up for 5h36m
cell standby 42%
Display 26%
phone idle 25%
how can those kill this thing so quickly?

Rebooting will drain your battery... 10% is not what I'd call normal... but why are you rebooting your device when you only have 29% battery life???

42+26+25=93... where is your other 7%, not that 7% will kill a battery. Are you overclocking your processor???

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

I'm charging again. From 6% to 60% in 45 minutes.
I rebooted because I thought one of customizations I did required it. I wanted to change the orange highlight on touch and around the text input boxes. Turned out I changed the highlight around the icons. Any idea on how to change the orange? I looked through all the settings but couldn't find it. With ALL the things you can change (I'm blown away) I figure that would be one of them....

I went back to this ROM now I'm having an issue with Google music force closing.

Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All tab > click on appropriate application > Clear data, then clear cache... Home... then start application again. Did you try that already?

I uninstalled/reinstalled it. I will try what you suggested and see if it helps. It was working when I first flashed the ROM so I'm sure it's something minor.

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

Begun battery test today on LTE using LTB v2.3 with 1.39.00.0629r radio.... just checked: 4hr 30min = 88% battery life.

Re: Liquid Thunderbread v2.2 (7/8/11)

8 hrs of battery on LTE... 80% battery life... including updating Angry Birds Rio from the Market earlier, which I believe was a 16.5MB file including installing it.

So I'm still a bit of a noob when it comes to rooting. What is the difference between an regular ROM and an ASOP ROM?

After seeing fatboy's success with battery life, I'm thinking about switiching to this from BAMF 1.8.

Simply said, AOSP (Android Open Source Project) ROMs are the basic operating system. ROMs like BAMF are HTC Sense ROMs, even the ones that say Senseless. So the AOSP ROM's are usually much smaller... Liquid Thunderbolt is approx 68mb, where some BAMF version like 3.0 rc4 are approx 290mb.

I can't even comprehend this. Maybe I have a bad battery. How is your display so low? And you have no other processes running?

Thanks! Might try and download and flash this tonight or this weekend then. Are you still using 2.2 or 2.3? And the MR2 radio works best?
