Re: U.S. and Samsung tell Galaxy Note 7 owners: Power down now

No. Samsung is asking people to power down the device and exchange it. Read the linked Samsung update above.

I think they were looking for a link to Samsung's news release of samsung actually saying that. I didn't see a link to it in the articles linked above.

It's on the website. Their policy has changed. Now they are offering a J Series Loaner phone. Laughable.

Re: U.S. and Samsung tell Galaxy Note 7 owners: Power down now

This has turned into a disaster. Its looking like if I want a bigger screen I either go get an edge or go back to my iPhone 6 plus. Neither option sounds appealing.

Re: U.S. and Samsung tell Galaxy Note 7 owners: Power down now

And it does say (pending CPSC approval)

I dont like that.

Whenever something says pending approval there is that chance it does NOT get approved.

Agreed. All bad choices.

Re: U.S. and Samsung tell Galaxy Note 7 owners: Power down now

Looks like those replacement units won't be making it in by the carrier deadline. I'll just go ahead and return mine for a refund and begin researching new phone options. So much for my first Note. Never would've thought things would get this bad.

Re: U.S. and Samsung tell Galaxy Note 7 owners: Power down now

Note 7's are selling like hotcakes on eBay now. Bad batteries and all. :p

eBay should ban all listings and remove it from their catalog. Same for sites like swappa. Act like the device hasn't been released yet.

Next week isn't looking good now for replacements.

Exactly. And the CPSC is in no hurry what so ever to make a decision.

"Unfortunately, the CPSC hasn’t provided a time frame for when it will deliver its decision. We don’t expect it to be any time soon, though, seeing as it took the agency over six months to recall malfunctioning ‘hoverboards’."

This is why Samsung should have initiated this with them immediately and not attempt to circumvent the process. I will imagine the carriers and Samsung will work with government officials to work through this as fast as possible. Hopefully that's not a long time though.

Re: U.S. and Samsung tell Galaxy Note 7 owners: Power down now

Wow, this sucks. Really just wanted a replacement, doesn't look to be happening anytime soon. Guess you can pretty much write off the Note 7 now.

Nope.. They're going to need time to go over the returns and see what all is wrong with the phone first. There are far more issues than just the battery I'm afraid and all of this is going to leave a bad taste in people's mouths since the carriers are controlling most of the returns..

This is what Samsung should have done in the beginning of all of this instead of letting it drag out to convince people this was just a small amount of phones being effected and not a real threat. They've made the situation worse by not fully telling people to power them down and not to use them in the beginning..

It's a royal cluster hockey puck now and maybe just maybe this site and all others will say the same thing and get all of these off the street sooner instead of many holding off and still using them..

Re: U.S. and Samsung tell Galaxy Note 7 owners: Power down now

Called the Verizon store I purchased from; of course they had no knowledge of the bulletin to power down your Note 7. He googled the bulletin while I was talking to him and saw the story on CNN. His advise to me...come in at the end of next week to get a replacement. I said Samsung said to power down immediately. He again said the replacement phones would be in at the end of next week.

Note 7 should go down as one of Samsung's worst flagship model in terms of sales. Dun think they will spend anymore extra money to entice people or pacify current Note 7 users. Probably just quickly end this exchange episode and focus on how to improve S8 to win back supporters.
