[ROM][ACS]SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2 (Updated 6/20)

I had the same issue. You have to go ahead and flash the syndicate ext 4 ROM. You can't leave cwm 3 and just select reboot

Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk

We will get this whole method of conversion to EXT4 ironed out. Problem is in the past we have always had a "stock" deodexed version to flash when completing the EXT4 conversion. Not getting this stock deodexed version this time around has really messed everyone up from how we did it with DK28 and EB13.

Edit: The reason I say the above is this isn't too much of an issue for more advanced users to the rooting and hacking circle to figure out the work arounds but to our newer users that are hitting the rooting ropes for the first time it can be very frustrating.

ahh ok. thats what i thought. buying it now :)

i wasn't sure if it was some linux command i had to run in terminal emulator that was baked into the ROM.

being as that im new to android and syndicateROM, is there anything i should check for to make sure i did the flashing/rooting correctly?

i have superuser so im assuming rooting went ok.

when i check ATK, my available memory is around 130-150mb, is that normal? seems kinda low to me. at first launch i have about 130mb free, and a few apps listed below that can be killed. once i kill them i have about 150mb.

From what I've read you can get rid of ATK. With Froyo the memory management is superior to anything a task killer could do. After flashing SRF I didn't reinstall ATK and I'm currently sitting @ 63% battery @ 21 and a half hours since unplug.

Anyone noticed that there is no option to upload videos to youtube via the video player app?

Flashed this yesterday and it runs silky smooth with no problems whatsoever and EXCELLENT battery life. Just want to be able to upload my videos! :(

Well, I gave up last night after much frustration. Plus, I needed to get something workable on the phone just to recharge the battery for another round of attempts.

I am back on EB13 after having flashed the stock tar with Odin (and, again, Sprint is asking me to install the update to EC05). So just to make sure I have this right, please confirm that from this state what I want to do is exactly the following:

1. Run OneClickRootCWM3-EB13 to root/install CWM3
2. Power down, then boot into CWM3. Wait for it to finish EXT4 conversion.
3. Flash eb13-ec05.zip to upgrade to the EC05 modem
4. Wipe data, cache, dalvik cache three times
5. Flash syndicatefro110-fullyloaded-signed.zip
6. Reboot

Did I miss anything?

If you are already using odin to get to EB13, why not just use Odin to get to EC05 here : http://forum.androidcentral.com/epi...o-ec05-prerooted-cwm-v2-5-1-0-rfs-odexed.html
Then run through the CWM3 method you stated, except skip the EB13-EC05.zip? These are the steps I have used successfully, and if the rom doesn't boot up perfectly just reflash the rom in CWM3(this fixed the issues for me).

That Odin package includes ClockworkMod2, and flashing Syndicate ROM requires ClockworkMod3. You need to use the OneClickRootCWM3-EB13 to get ClockworkMod3 in order to flash Syndicate, which is an EXT4 ROM.

Well, I had EC05, root, and CWM2.5, but I could not get CWM3 to install from that configuration. Even the thread on converting to EXT4 says that the CWM3 run.bat will not work on EC05, and I got tons of errors (and no CWM3) when I tried to run it.

I could probably debug the script given enough time, but hacking phones is not my bag, so I was looking for a more tried-and-true method. Not sure why this failed for me if it worked for you; maybe it's because I had the stock EC05 delivered OTA.

In any case, I decided to follow the recommendation to fall back to EB13 before doing the EXT4 conversion, which got me further along. It just happens that the thread referenced in that recommendation provides instructions that don't work for folks coming back from EC05 (I'm sure they work fine for folks coming forward from DI28).

About to try again here in a few minutes; I will report my results. I will also download the EC05 ROM you linked, and if the method I outlined does not work, I will try that sequence next.

I am aware, I was just thinking it would have been easier to just use this method to odin to ec05 then use the eb13 one click method which will give you cwm3, and instead of flashing stock deodexed eb13 you flash syndicate v1.1.
@welsh maybe instead of using the EB13 oneclick you could use the one click posted in the syndicate rom thread post under installation instruction...is possible that the oneclick k0nane) posted is different?

Update: Finally up on SRF.

My problem was apparently a corrupt ROM zip. Even though the byte count was correct, and it opened on my computer with no errors, I decided to re-download the zip. Sure enough, the MD5 was different on the new copy, so somewhere in my original download there was some corruption. Oddly, I had used the phone itself, on 4G, to download it the first time -- much faster than my satellite Internet connection, which also has a daily 350mb limit. I downloaded the fresh copy using my PC during my satellite provider's "free period."

Just as a suggestion, perhaps the MD5 could be posted for these large downloads when they are put up. Would probably have saved me some grief. Or is there a place where the MD5s are listed and I just haven't found it?

Thanks, everyone, for the help.

OBTW, the method that worked is the one I posted earlier with steps listed 1-6, once I had a good zip file.

I gave this ROM a shot, and while I think its pretty nice, I am another one that finds it an absolute battery destroyer. Im not sure why, because spare parts doesnt show any significant partial wake usage, and I run 100-1000mhz conservative. Great job on the ROM though- hopefully the battery issues will be sorted in the next release.

Feel like sharing what the other one is?

Not sure why your battery is acting up. I'm on SRF and I'm currently at 27 hours with 36% battery left with moderate usage.

Love the ROM but I don't know how some of you get such good battery life. Maybe it was because I had it set to 1.2/100 with no profiles?? My phone is at 10hrs unplugged and 47% left which is better than the stock.

Noob question, when some say undervoltage, is that the lower of the two numbers? I don't see an undervoltage listed anywhere in setcpu.

the undervolt is built into the kernel. As long as your running at 1000 ghz then you are using the undervolt from my understanding. Now the Vision Kernel, the dev has stated he has the undervolt working at 1000/800/600 if I remember correctly.

Hey all.

I flashed this and it's working great, but I forgot to flash EC05 modem beforehand. Can I safely Odin it now without wiping and installing again?

Also, do I need a pit file for the EC05 modem flash?

thanks!

Well, now that I've got it running, I'm having several issues. I did not see them come up elsewhere in the thread, and a search did not turn up any relevant threads:

1. I am getting FCs on Swype, even when it's not on the screen.
2. I am getting periodic FCs on Google Applications Framework.
3. WiFi tether causes a reboot with no error messages.

I've tried fixing permissions and wiping the cache. Any other suggestions?
