[ROM][ACS]SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2 (Updated 6/20)

I don't know what happened, but I go from everything working great this morning, to not at all after I went to change my battery. I powered off the phone to replace the battery, then when I powered it back on, it just kept on playing the boot animation. Am I bricked? Do I have to reflash the rom?

did you have journaling on?

If you powered down and didn't wait for the final "buzz" you may have had an improper shut down. In that case you can get data corruption. Easiest way to fix that is to restore from your last nandroid backup and reflash.

Of note, if you want to turn journaling on to prevent this from happening again, just make a backup in CWM and immediately restore. The restore process repartitions the drive so that journaling is back on.

::sigh:: so i cant mod/bake in apks from the market/internet and use them on here? and the themes i use arent really themes. i just change png files. i have the unlock button from blackout, the stat menu icons from frankenstein, custom stat window (i made .png files in the gimp), edited the srf1.1 dialer tab to have the colors i wanted, edited the srf 1.1 market to have a blue icon, edited the srf1.1 mms apk to have transparent background and bubbles, changed the font. etc etc etc. not using any theme as a whole. all i did was change pngs, and add a few files (audio and such), and bake in dolphin hd, setcpu, astro, sdx app remover, blackfacebook, xda, android central, tapatalk, and amazon appstore so they install when i flash the rom (and remove stock browser and email apps, as i use dolphin and gmail)

It would probably come back to dialer tab and probably mms. I know that I tried to theme the dialer tab and it broke the phone for me. Had to restore. Flash it stock, get it working. Then take each .apk you are modding and flash it one at a time to see wich one isn't working right with the ROM. I know the CIQ process went pretty deep, which is why ACS says to use themes that are marked to work with SRF.

The only files affected by CIQ removal are

services.jar
framework.jar
ext.jar
DialerTabActivity.apk

Part 1, if you changed anything involving those 4 files and they were replaced with something that wasn't "CIQ removed" then that is a problem

Part 2, as I stated in an earlier post all theme changes must use the same file signature as the ones from Syndicate ROM. Best thing to do is pull the .apks from Syndicate and theme those for best results.

oh wow. holy crap. i didnt know CIQ removal went that deep and that those apps would be that bad for running. i guess ill have to start with a clean slate CIQ removed version of those apks and theme THOSE >.< thank you for the help!!!!!

Yep.. DialerTabActivity.apk, we know that is for the phone so that is a commonly "themed" .apk.

services.jar has many functions, 2 most recently used mods are full battery pop up & AM/PM removal from status bar are related to this ".jar" file.

framework.jar has many functions too, one big patch we all love is the TWS bug which depends on this ".jar" file.

The ext.jar file I'm not too sure what exactly its function is or a mod/patch related to it but all 4 of these files are those in which k0nane went in and found the CIQ and removed it.

i dont even know how to view or edit .jar files. I am only good with making and changing .apks (which apparently i'm not even that good at, as i didnt even know theres multiple types of .pngs) and big system files (like adding ringtones, wallpapers, and changing the boot/shutdown ani's before flashing a rom). Anything that doesnt open in paint or 7zip i havent looked at. dialer tab is probably definitely the problem tho. i've been transferring my dialertabactivity over since.... ACE 1.5ish. I themed it using pngs from frankenstein rom so it would be this sleek black minimalist keyboard. (<3) ill have to retheme some stuff from ACS i guess >.<

a side question- since ACE will have CIQ removed.... if i want to theme apps that are not included with ACE (but ARE available through ACS), would ACS .apks be compatible with the new CIQ-free ACE???

Can't confirm as of yet but they should work since ACE v2.0 when released will include CIQ removal.

Speaking of those ".jar" files I mentioned. If you used an older theme or pieces of a theme that include the battery pop up mod and some other mods that may involve the services.jar/framework.jar/ext.jar that were done before CIQ removal that will also run you into trouble. Bottom line, whatever you use/theme just make sure its at least EB13/EC05 CIQ removal compliant (Syndicate/Bonsai/midNIGHT) or you will run into trouble. I'm just throwing out any and all possibilities so you know what to look for, Traumahawk and others.

Hello you all, I run Syndicate on my Samsung Epic and this morning, I woke up to my phone being fully charged, but the home, back, and menu buttons being lit. This has happened a couple of times before this week, I usually have to remove the battery to be able to start the device.

However, this time when I booted the phone, my launcher (Launcher 7) would not boot and I keep getting stuck in a "Force Close" loop. A message pops up saying that Launcher 7 has unexpectedly stopped and that I need to force close and when I press force close, the message just pops up again.

*Correction* A good bit of my applications are missing, none of my launchers, save the default are working, and even my android/physical keyboard is not working. It was fine yesterday, I did nothing last night but charge my phone.

Anyone have any ideas? Or will I have to use a back up to restore my phone?

Thank you in advance.

Are you using the prepackaged kernel that came with Syndicate? Twilight Zone v1.1.0?

Just wondering so we know where to proceed to next...

Is there anyway to enable Ads in the browser? I run several websites and need to make sure that the ads are running, so I would need to be able to see the ads..

Let me know :)

I should be, I am very new to this, so I'm sorry, I'm not sure exactly how to check, but I did not change anything about the rom. I simply installed from the zip.

You could download AdFree and hit the Revert button. That's the easiest way I think, but it'll restore ads in all apps, not just the browser.

Correct. Ad Blocking Host file is baked into the ROM, by doing as Jinded suggested this will revert that host file back to normal and you will once again have ads displayed everywhere on you device.

I'm not sure of a specific app or method to work with just the "browser" only for controlling ads displayed.

Ughh.. I really wanted to run this.. But only want ads in the browser

You can wait and see if the dev (k0nane) of Syndicate has some other suggestion for you. He usually checks in on this thread at least once a day sometimes more.

I updated my phone to 1.1.0 2 days ago and everything was working perfectly. All of a sudden, everything on my phone starts crashing.

Things like android.process.acore and processes related to swype popup with a force close message box. It renders the phone useless because even when I try to make a call, the phone dialer application crashes as well.

Has anyone run into this before?

Sounds similar to what was happening to Paul. To fix, enable journaling by wiping and reflashing ROM, make a nandroid backup and immediately restore that backup.

I'm on 1.0.2(malanga), and I was wondering if there was a way to flash just sprint-tv? I downloaded all of the removed apps from the thread on XDA, but I don't want to restore all of those.

I was also able to find it here, but I don't know if it's compatible with malanga/eb13.

Edit: Nvm, it works.
