[ROM] CM7.2 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 3/9 zvd only

Re: [ROM][WIP] CM7 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 10-23-2011

Flashed. Still doesn't look exactly like the first picture but it looks better than before. The top part didn't change. I guess it's the theme cuz it says missing assets for my screen size? The dialer in the System theme does look different. But at least it doesn't look broken anymore. Thanks.

Is it possible to get this caller screen in this ROM?

instead of this one...

Make sure the number your calling doesnt have a +1 in front of the area code it took me a while to figure that out...

Ohh that worked. Thanks! But why does it only do it after awhile? And do i have to edit all my contacts? Or is there an easier way?

Using the contact manager at the Gmail website is pretty fast if you have to do it manually.

Hey guys,

I am totally new to this phone modding thing, but I have some questions hopefully you guys can help me with.

A few days ago I rooted and modded my phone for the first time. I did the rollback to Froyo, then rooted and installed the the ZVH per the instructions here. I did the Xionia Clockwork and then finally got gROM. I love it, but want to try out some other roms too. I did all of it manually using a terminal and the instructions. Here begin the questions:

What steps do I need to take to get the CM7 Port? Do I need to rollback using clockwork to my first backup after I got ZVH (basically to rooted factory)? Do I just flash the new rom? What about these kernels? Do I need one or are they optional? If so, do I install a kernel first, then the CM7 Port or the Port, then the kernel? I'm confused as to the order of operations.

Please go easy on me, I'm still learning and figuring these things out. I understand some of the technical speak, but the more simpler terminology you use, the less questions I'll have later.

Thanks in advance for the help! I am so grateful for the support this forum provides. Totally unlocked a new world of Android for me.

You will need to roll back to ZVD first. CM7 won't work with ZVH.

For now CM7 is only working on the old baseband ZVD. You will need to downgrade to ZVD. Make nandroid backups in Xionia recovery before attempting the downgrade to VD baseband. BIggest step is to load a stock recovery. http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...sprint-zvd-froyo-downgrade-now-available.html

Then Root with Gingersnap.
Install Xionia recovery again, boot to recovery and do the necessary data wipes.
Then flash this ROM or Drew's CM7, then flash the Google apps afterwards.

Oh jesus.

Well, being that I'm a total newbie. I have NO idea how to rollback from where I'm at right now. Help?

"A few days ago I rooted and modded my phone for the first time. I did the rollback to Froyo, then rooted "

Pretty much the same as you did before, but stay in VD (Froyo) this time. Obtain root, install Xionia recovery, install CM7 Rom and Google apps.

Re: [ROM][WIP] CM7 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 10-23-2011

Another question Kraven. I followed the instruction from a post in this thread and installed the visual voicemail and got it to work. But everytime I get a voicemail I also get an annoying text from 9016 saying someone sent me a voicemail. I searched every single related post on this forum and the xda forum. So it seems if I uninstall Mms.apk or block 9016 through sprint, the VVM won't work. The only way is to block 9016 using another app or something like Go SMS or Handcent. They say that the 9016 message is automatically hidden in stock Froyo but VVM needs it to work properly. Is the Mms.apk from this ROM the stock messaging app? Is there a way to stop the texts without having to use a third party app or losing VVM? Thanks!

I also tried Google Voice but I don't really like it. Google Voice sends me texts too even if I uncheck the notify through text box in settings. I like VVM. Just don't want those annoying texts:confused:

Re: [ROM][WIP] CM7 Port for Optimus S by thekraven 10-23-2011

kraven,

I looked at the guide you provided and I assume I do this option on the guide:

"c) [Radio: any] / [ROM: any] => rooted ZVH Radio/ROM/Recovery
In this case, we just install the ZVD update.zip in Xionia CWMA Recovery knowing there will be a Radio/ROM mismatch and data likely won't work. We don't care because we are just going to root the ROM and go back to ZVH. From Xionia CWMA Recovery, use "install zip from sdcard" and turn off "signature verfication", then use "apply sdcard:update.zip" to install the ZVD update.zip. Next use [GingerSnap] [GingerBreak] to root ZVD. After that follow the ZVH rooting steps."

But, it says my Radio/ROM mismatch will happen. Does installing the ROM fix that since I'm not updating back to ZVH? I'm just confused about which option to follow...
