I gotta say the p500 5-29 release with the working wifi kernel has been running awesome stable since the day arjen released it, i've been using it as my daily rom since then. The blackscreen bug is minimal, i haven't had to pull battery ever, and I can't really find anything other problems. I'm using lg thrive, old baseband of course so using baseband fix. OCing 480/600 with ondemand govenor.

For who wants to play, a new p500 nightly is available. Next release has the new cm mascot as bootanimation.

Send from my phone...

Currently running OBB, CM9 RC0 for p500 released by arjen and kernel as well. OBB fix, CPU at min 480 Hz Max 600Hz stock theme although I'm having problems incoming calls while on Bluetooth(mostly static)

Okay, I'm having the same problem some other people had a few posts back. What happens is I boot into CWM, wipe evrything (including /system), flash the ROM, kernel, and Obb fix (I have a thrive), then power the phone off and turn it on. It boots fine, colors are good, and everything works. Then I turn it off, flash the gapps, then try to start the phone again. After this it shows the lg logo then a black screen and then turns off. I've tried doing this with a ton of combinations and orders of flashing stuff and the same thing happens every time, that second time turning the phone on doesn't work.

Can someone please help me with this I've spent hours on it and couldn't fix it.

I tried it with the kernel from the third post in the kernel thread, and with several different ROMS, but not arjens 5/29 ROM so I'll give that a try later, but I did figure out what the problem was and a temporary solution.

The problem was that I couldn't turn the phone off, I could only ever reboot. If I turn the phone off the next time I turn it on it would shutdown before the boot animation and if I just reboot the phone would start and work fine (with a small blackscreen bug)

Has anybody with this problem found a real fix so I can turn the phone off?

I said in my other post I cleared everything, and I've tried the whole flashing process at least 20 times, and cleared everything every time so I don't think that's the problem.

I have had that issue a few times as well from what i can tell some roms are corrupting the kernel or the rom its self aokp build 38 worked and so did most of the p500 kang builds the ones that say p505 gave me the most trouble with not wanting to restart. But i never fully turned off yet i will give that a try here in a bit and see if i can pull a few logs for arjen if i get the problem

No, don't clear everything.
ONLY clear the dalvik cache and cache. Then try starting it, it'll get past the power off.

Okay, just to double check, I'm on a gingerbread rom right now, and I should just clear the dalvik cache and cache and then flash the ROM and kernel?

No, when you shut down your phone, in order to not get the black screen and shut down bug, you must clear dalvik cache and cache. Then it will boot fine. When installing you clear everything.

Okay, thanks for your help, I'll try that now, will I only have to do that once, or everytime I start the phone?

Everytime you start it unfortunately.

actual you do not have to delete the cache or anything just go to recovery and select reboot

appears to be a bug in the kernel i have a feeling it has to do with the battery stuff but i have tested it for the past 20 min turn on then off then turn on and it turns off so i boot into recovery and select reboot device and boom it boots normally

and you have to do it every frigging time lol

but i repeat YOU DO NOT NEED TO WIPE ANYTHING just boot to recovery and click reboot that's it simple yet aggravating

as for installing you must wipe everything system/dalvik/cahce/ (optional battery)

oh and for the ones that do not know the dalvik cache and battery is under advanced in CWR

That's a bummer, I guess I'm stuck with gingerbread for a while then...
Hopefully arjen can find a fix (and qualcomm can release OpenMax llibs so we can watch youtube)
Other than that ICS runs amazing on our phones
